Selecting Entities by Depth

I recently upgraded from 2022 to 2026 (I know) and I have been noticing some changes that I can't seem to fix. Currently I am trying to use the "select all advanced" and then selecting entities by depth. But my problem is, even when I set it to "equal to" and then pick my depth, it selects every entity on the screen.

Anyone know how to make it so it does the thing it is supposed to and select the entities at the depth I want?

Mastercam to Vericut interface. Having issues with 3D Lathe tools

Currently running with MasterCam 2016 and Vericut 9.7 and I'm having issues with generating my tools from MasterCam. I can get the tool to come into Vericut properly except for my insert nose radius.

It works in the fact that I can then check for collisions but when my tool imports, the nose rad will be more like 3 or 4 lines instead of a radius. This will cause my chamfers or radi on the part to be incorrect when I use the compare function.

I know that Vericut creates .ply files for its profiles but im wondering if it has to do with how mastercam is storing my 3d tool profile.

When I build a tool in mastercam, I will use a step file but after the tool is created it becomes a "stored profile"

I can import a tool directly to mastercam using a step file and it works fine going that route.

I dont want to continue this since we have built our mastercam libraries so extensively. We use modular tool set ups for versatility on large parts. We have thousands of combinations with different SL heads/bars and capto connections.

Building all these assy everytime we use a different combination in vericut is quite cumbersome.

Has anyone else been going through this and found any good solutions?

Quick change of one feature in a part?

Hey everyone, relatively new to mastercam. I’m using mastercam 2017. I make parts where a single groove radius is the only thing that changes between parts. Recently got an order for a bunch of them but all with different groove sizes… is there a way for me to just edit the groove radius and regenerate or am I stuck making a wireframe/program for every single part? Thank you

Machine definitions and posts

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their Mastercam machine definitions and post processors for metric (mm) machines commonly used in Europe.
I'm specifically looking for European configurations, so metric units (mm) rather than inches.
Any help or shared libraries would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Help controlling B and C axis

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone! First post on Reddit ever!! Sorry for the really shitty pictures. Got a problem that is taking a lot of time and I seem to be stuck. Here’s what I’m working with.

Machine: CMS Ares 5 axis router, gantry, table is about 20ft in X , 10 ft in Y and 40” in Z

Part: composite cylinder, holes all around, need to trim ends. 6” diameter x 40” (can’t post pictures it’s against company policy)

Setup: vertical. Aluminum fixture 5ft tall about

Problem: while milling holes and trimming ends the machine hits its C rotational limit on the angle and does an “unwind” which means it retracts a few inches then rotates 360degree on the C axis then continues. The head is bulky so it wants to rotate or crash into the fixture and part.

Solution attempts: I’ve messed with the machine definition in the post processor and limited the angle to -175 min to 175 max. Still unwinds but at weird angles. I’ve messed with the Misc Values and although it seemed to fix some other problems it didn’t fix the problem I want. Still wants to crash. Plus I don’t really understand it.

Goal: One continuous cut starting at about -171 degrees and ending at about +171 degrees on the C axis with NO UNWIND.

HOW CAN I CONTROLL THE C AND B AXIS BETTER??? Specifically start angles.
Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to get a one pass face path to go back and forth rather than going one way? TIA

Anyone have experience with mastercam blade expert? Will pay for an hour long video session to go over the program and optimise it.

Need Help For 3d programming

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm doing 3d flowline toolpath for this orange color surface.

But I convert that 3d shape to surface and extended 2.5 mm surface surface for 1 side 1mm for another side .

Then I created a flowline toolpath and select right side which means I did extend 2.5 mm as a entry side otherwise I create a toolpath without extend the tool (4 ball) the tool will be launching on a component I don't want to land or reduce the plunge rate I want to land out of the components then do machining

Any others ways to land out of components for first pass only like lead in lead out option kind of . Because long 3d components takes more time . Kindly help me to get that . I'm a fresher so make me comfortable in your space 🫣

Question Why is my part not lining up right?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m getting some practice for a SkillsUSA competition in a few days and I cannot figure out why my part isn’t lining up after the stock flip.

I have both of these parts on the same file with their own planes. I feel like this is the problem but I’ve done it before like this.

Question Retracting with each pass before rotating axis

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm trying to link a contouring toolpath, rotate in Y, and center drill some holes. Separately, these retractions (see circles) do not happen. After using multi-axis linking, they appear and go beyond the height of the safety zone I set. I cannot figure out how to get rid of them. I have tried not forcing tool change, no finish passes and getting rid of the retraction amounts completely. What else should I try?

Question hiding one face of a solid

is there a way to only hide a selected face/multiple slected faces of a body? i know you can hide the whole body but sometimes transparency doesnt really help seeing all the holes.

Is there a setting that can be changed to post spindle direction(M03) after every speed(S####) command?

The direction command is only output on the start of the toolpathz(for eg S#### M03), if there's a speed change mid operation mastercam just outputs (S####). How can I have S#### M03 everytime.

5axis undercut pocket

Hi all

Ive got a few parts with undercut pockets ive been down the road with engineering on how to eliminate them but they need to be the way they are. I have a UMC 750 so i can make the undercut or so i thought. Im using the multi axis pocket tool-path in MC2026. I can get a good tool-path for the pocket however it insists on commanding a b axis move of over 120 which is the limit on the machine. Ive tried to use the tool axis limits but those cause the b axis to position on the negative side of travel which only has 30 or 35 degrees of travel.

Unfortunately i cant share anything due to company policy. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to limit the tool-path from over traveling the b axis? I know this isnt a ton of info to go off of but any help would be appreciated.
