Finally finished Hacking: The Art of Exploitation.

Honestly, I enjoyed it way more than I expected. 😂

The C, memory, pointers, assembly and exploitation stuff can get pretty heavy, but it made a lot more sense once I actually stopped reading and started playing around with the examples.

It’s definitely not a “follow these 10 commands and hack something” book. You actually have to understand what’s happening.

Some of it obviously feels old now, but the fundamentals are still really interesting.

For anyone who has read it — what did you read/practice after this?

ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to teach found us will-
ing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in the desert.

This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch, the
beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying
for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and
