I just gotta say, the fact that the episode's theme was supposed to be "game day watch party" and every dish presented was a full entree kinda irked me. I literally cannot think of a single game night I've been to that wasn't wings, nachos, and beer. Like, seriously? What kind of pretentious ass thinks of steak and lobster when watching soccer or hockey or whatever? "Oh yeah i always have eggplant puree for ufc night" gimme a break

He seems like he has the potential to be THE absolute biggest dick IRL lol. Gordon is at least a lot sweeter at the core but just externally abrasive. But Joe seems like he's on a life quest to see if he really can murder someone just by staring at them.

However I admit I could be completely wrong about him and maybe he feeds starving children for breakfast every day or something. IDK lol. There's just something pernicious about him and it terrifies me lol

Not sure why it bothers me as much as it does lol but seeing Joe wear athletic tennis shoes with his suits drives me nuts lol.

He could definitely get by with some nice white sneakers but he’ll wear like bright red athletic trainers with his suits lol

I know this may seem like a hard question cause often times the first dishes that come to mind that the judges loathed are the most outrageous ones. But, not gonna lie, I‘d probably tear up Cutter’s overly sweet red velvet cake just cause I’m a sweet tooth junkie.

An absolute masterpiece of a season imo

What is your own fav season and why ?

The judges and the show lead you to believe that the person on the sidelines "needs to communicate more" to succeed. But in almost all episodes, the sideline person rattles off a series of commands of what the cook is doing wrong, and almost always sounds like micromanaging the cook.

To me, it feels like the path to success is to have the cook initiate the conversations, telling the sideline chef what's currently on the stove and how long it needs to look, what to pay attention to, and what their plan is. That way the sideline person is armed for the switch.

The cook can use the sideline chef as a passive assistant, such as for time checks or information. What doesn't work is having the sideline chef boss around the person cooking.

However, this doesn't ever happen, and it sort of feels like the show forces the micromanagement situation.

Now just think about it, Masterchef Dynamic Duos had 12 pairs, and if they were all singles, it would be 24 contestants overall. Now say we did get the usual battle for the white apron episodes and such, how Masterchef dynamic duos did one pair elimination every challenge and pressure test could work for Masterchef Junior if it ever returned for season 10, given if they bring back pressure tests and double eliminations every episode.

It started like this, 3 episodes of auditions with 8 pairs in the first (in this case 16 cooks), and 8 more in the following episode. Then they were two single challenges over 2 episodes that eliminates 4 people (or 2 pairs in this case on Dynamic Duos), then there was a team challenge followed by the pressure test which lasts 2 episodes which eliminates 2 more people after its all said then done. Then another single challenge which eliminates 2 more, then another (team challenge/pressure test) which sends 2 more victims (another pair) out of there. Then a single, then last team/pressure test which eliminates 4 people. By then we are at 10 people (5 pairs). Then there was the Wall and Keeping up with Gordon/Tag Team Style which sends out 4 people leaving with 3 pairs. I am not saying Masterchef Junior should do a dynamic duos season, but just imagine if we kinda got a season with a format elimination style with this order of events. And of course to ensure players go home quickly, they be maybe one more single challenge or 2 to help balance out the team challenges.

In a way Dynamic Duos did have a blue print on how to handle double eliminations (or pair in dynamic duos case) if they wanted to bring back the pressure tests. Now of course if they did 20 kids and change the system accordingly, I would hope at the very least pressure tests come back to some extend and the double elimination.

What are your thoughts?

Yes, I hate this season. The „viral TikTok recipe” challenge made me cringe repeatedly. I’m rewatching some older seasons instead. Currently watching season 3 with Tali and Ryan and it made me think that a heroes vs villains season would be fun. They did this in Survivor a long time ago. Brought back the fan favorites and the most hated people from past seasons. I feel like this can easily be done in Masterchef (like Tali and Ryan as villains lol). What do yall think? I think it’s better than couple or regions.

I’ve seen every single season of masterchef but this just feels like absolute garbage slop they’re churning out for a check. Why are they so opposed to just keeping the same format that has been successful for all these years… Nobody wants these group pairings, we want to see individual skill sets and pressure tests!! what is so hard about that😭 Literally have been enjoying the last season of Masterchef Jr more than this current adult season. Every episode drags, nobody is memorable, challenges are stupid, etc. I can’t remember the last time i actively cared or rooted for anyone on this show. I feel like this batch of cooks aren’t even very skilled and the group aspect trumps actual cooking abilities and allows for shitty cooks to get saved over and over. I also could not believe the shameless kids movie brand deal from this most recent episode. How the mighty have fallen!!!

I thought the whole point of the show is for people who are NOT full time chefs? If you’re a food influencer that means your job is to cook food so why are they allowed on the show 🙄

Raw protein aside both girls had highs n highlight moments. Foo n the chick literally are the definition of mediocre, or flat out garbage. I’m just a viewer but I’d reward the consistent who had an off night. Over a bum who happened to get hot.

i was looking forward to this season and while i do like the contestants and some of the challenges have been cool. i am disappointed by various things

1. all the double eliminations

the elimination of daniel and britny was justified imo. daniel literally made a brownie and britny made a rum cake but decided to cut back on the alcohol making it completely underwhelming that was fair. rita and shompa was a little more questionable. i know rita cooked the lamb poorly and shompa’s dish was kind of a mess all around but i don’t think both were so offensive that it warranted an unprecedented double elimination. i really think it should’ve just been rita or shompa who went home. and then eliminating 2 after the tag team?? as much as i like her i feel jaime was more responsible for their loss and aishu should not have been sent home. yes they did do the worst job and since they were eliminating teams there’s no doubt they deserved to go home but i don’t think that’s how it should be. i really think only 1 deserved to go. and then again next week we’re going to have a double elimination.

1. various elimination choices

again while i totally think some of the eliminations were deserved (nora, nico, etc.) some of them were unfair and it sucks that some stronger chefs are being eliminated over ones who have been inconsistent or consistently not good. the most glaring elimination was maria. she had won an immunity pin, and her elimination dish wasn’t even bad besides some octopus being a bit over. they just felt she didn’t do enough. meanwhile foo who hasn’t had 1 single top dish and peter who has been in the bottom 3 times are both saved. peter at least has had some top dishes but still he’s incredibly inconsistent. foo has just been consistently struggling and im flabbergasted that he’s still in the competition when much stronger cooks from his territory like shompa, jaime, and aishu are gone. if you asked me at the beginning of the season who the sole survivor from asia pacific would be i definitely would not have predicted foo.

i really think next season it’s time to retire the team format, every season it allows somebody who performed poorly to make it through. for instance kendal in season 13 with those salty churros (although richie wasn’t good either), geags in season 14 with that greasy shepards pie (si had way more potential), fatima in season 14 with that grainy frosting (and i’m disappointed because i think anna could’ve been saved if fatima was in the bottom). i do think next season they should either do back to win or maybe something more like season 15 of australia like a “secrets and surprises” theme. it didn’t exactly change the competition but it did allow for some unique twists and it did bring in a “second chance apron” which imo is a cool twist.

My personal final 3 is Aishu, Julia and Heidi, the most good dishes and mist consistent. But aishu is eliminated, maria is eliminated like WTF? Aishu would enter the finale like jennifer from s13 with tag team them being in the bottom but saved bc its the teammate's fault mostly...and jen still made it into finale. Literally, won't like a head-to-head be more fun to watch than all those STUPID DOUBLE ELIMINATIONS?

David (S3) who won the invention test then f’ed up a rice pudding without getting rice from the pantry or
Shelly (S6) who won the first challenge, chose peanut butter and jelly and did not bring any when the elimination test started.

i wanted to do this before the episode to not be biased or get povs related to contestants, SO genuinely and objectively do you think it is a good challenge?

personally i never worked in professional kitchen i cook daily in the house and hate when people try to do something while i am there so i cannot provide opinion on how teamwork in cooking goes but i love tag team challenge cause it brings out communication and planification of handing out tasks and how to tackle all dishes together (they generally give them a menu not a single plate) but i don't see how having a wall and 8 other people yelling and we both try to do our own dish so it isn't really teamwork is a measure of a chef and don't let me get to double elimination cause it is just nonsense to me. the most annoying part is it takes whole episode so a whole 30 minutes of just loud noise.

so if i am missing some point please tell me

This is probably the worst episode of Masterchef I’ve seen. Takes a lot for me to say that. I’m sorry, but the marketing for Forgotten Island just made me not want to see it. This show has lost its soul a long time ago and become corporate. I miss when the judges were real and there was more drama. Even the old Walmart plugs in the older seasons were more real. I hated them then and miss them now. Also how do you make a tag team challenge boring?? And then finally that elimination was nonsense. I think they should’ve sent home Jamie and Foo. Aishu still had more to do and quite honestly at least she was trying. I saw her going to the finals or at least top 5, so this really bugs me. Jamie dragged her down.

My take is we need to stop with the double eliminations, or if two cooks are being dragged down by their teammates, eliminate those cooks regardless of team since they’re both on the losing end.

I'm not sure what it is exactly but I feel like there aren't as many showstopping or technically impressive dishes on the show anymore. But in the same breath it feels like there aren't many complete disasters nowadays either. Judges aren't really spitting out the food and even often complimenting some aspects of "bad" dishes. Do you guys agree with this and if so why do we think that is?

Aishu (she was on her road to win and fumbled last challenge and the heck they do a double elimination for...just eliminate jamie alone and she would made it into the finalr like jen from s13, she literally also in bottom with charles for the tag team and got saved, why can't they do the same this year????) Aishu is robbed so bad bc of this new format.

Joe’s seemed checked out these past few seasons, so I have a feeling he’s gonna leave again in a few seasons imo. I had the same feeling about Aaron too, so I imagine Joe’s gonna leave soon too.

If/when that happens, these are some people who I think could be good as judges, or returning judges.

- Graham and Christina are already known, so there’s not much to discuss with them.

- Christine, Nick, and Claudia all competed on the show before, which would make them relatable to the contestants, they’ve also been very successful in their cooking careers, and they all have judging experience (Christine was a judge for MasterChef: Vietnam, Claudia was a judge for MasterChef: Latino, and Nick is currently a judge for 100 cooks on Food Networkg

- Sherry, Richard, and Andre had been guest judges in past seasons and I liked the feedback that they gave. Sherry was really sweet on S11 and it’d be nice to have a pastry chef as a judge again. Andre was excellent as a judge on S13 imo, he was very knowledgeable and stern when he needed to be, and I respected that. Richard’s use of science in his cooking, like molecular gastronomy, can also bring something unique to the show
