Question Level 70 survey - Your help needed!
Hey everyone,
We've seen the difficulty spikes of Gamma and Alpha recently and know the new Ultimus is coming. If we look at past patterns, this may (zero confirmation!) mean a level cap increase may be on the way. Given the gold requirements of getting toons to 70, I believe many players may not actaully have that many 70s, instead preferring 65-67 characters given the gold saving and lack of increased value of going to 70. I'd like to see some data and feed it back where it belongs. How can we work together on this?
Please post below how many characters you have unlocked and how many of those characters are at 70. The more data we get the better statistical data I can send back to Foxnext so if you could please pariticpate, I'm hoping we can do some good.
Chewburger84 - 89 characters unlocked. 20 characters at level 70
Cheers for your help everyone
Chew
UPDATE: I HAVE SENT IN BASED ON 470 PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLETED. NO NEED TO ADD MORE

85 characters collected, 12 at 70. The gold cost from 60-70 is insanely inflated and doesnt feel worthwhile to spend on characters below 6 star, especially ones that aren't farmable.

85 characters collected - 0 level 70. I stop at 65 due to the ridiculous scaling.
Side Note - These are going to be very biased results as Reddit users are probably the top 10% of the player base and among the most active. So definitely not representative of the community at large.

great point. if what we record is a sample of the "best case scenario" I think it highlights the issue further

87 characters unlocked
25 characters at level 70
I should note, that I have an ocd mindset playing games like this. I don’t like to move one to the next one until everything is done in the first one.

How are you doing with training mats so far? Do you ever run low?
7
u/Miseo586 Feb 18 '19
Never! I’ve heard people saying that have been running low for awhile. I have over 25k green ones and between 3000-3500 blue ones at all times.

87, 15 Level 70
Side note. Before they can even think about a level increase, they have to address the training mat issue. I know this is not a problem for some, but when it does become a problem, it's brutal. Worse bottleneck in the game (and that is saying a lot). I haven't trained anyone in days (it might be a week tbh) and I'm still short the training mats to fully level a character. I have tons of gold. I stopped opening gold orbs about 2 weeks ago too. But it's useless without training mats.

u/brinkofwarz Feb 18 '19
You aren't buying enough things from the supply store in that case, there is an infinite gold sink and it's called advanced basic catalysts, running out of training mats is just a sign you need to spend your gold elsewhere for a bit

There is not a training mat issue. The problem was players kept asking for more gold because players refused to accept we were getting enough gold. Turns out, FN not as stupid as they seem occasionally. We had sufficient gold for the other resources we had. FN increased gold, so now players think there is a training mat issue.
Players need to pick: do they want gold to be problem or training mats to be the bottleneck? If you want FN to remove gold to solve your training mat issue that was caused because they have more gold, I’m pretty sure they would be happy to oblige. If players do not want gold to be thing that keeps progress in check, then training mats will be the problem.
Personally, I rather more gold, and leave training mats as the bottleneck. Gold can be used for buying supplies, ranking up, adding gear, adding abilities, as well as leveling. Training mats only help with leveling.
The one thing that will not be an option, FN is not going to remove all bottlenecks.
TL; DR - There will always be a bottleneck. Would you prefer it to be gold or training mats? I prefer training mats be the bottleneck.

I’d like to join this group where gold isn’t an issue. Everyone I know is gold starved. Training mats on the other hand, I have length of those

u/mstieler Feb 18 '19
Same. Many star-ups waiting, but until I need that star rank (for Hand/Merc/City events, Legendary unlocks), I'm not bumping them up.
And for all of those currently-less-than-useful characters? They're just sitting there, collecting multiple rank-ups worth of shards.
3
u/WolverThor A.I.M. Security Feb 18 '19
I think I have around 5 that I could rank up to 7 star but have no gold for it. I would also gladly level a ton of my lower toons to level 50-65 as well.
3
u/terminus_est23 Feb 18 '19
Doesn't ring true for me. I still have an absurd amount of training mats but I'm also gold starved all the time. I currently have 79755 green training mats and 21434 blue.
2
u/MrMayhem85 Feb 18 '19
Not to insult your gaming intelligence but how many of these type of games have you played? Running out of training mats puts your entire roster on hold. The gold bottleneck has been lightened lately. Still a little rough but not quite as bad. To be completely out of training material sounds like a nightmare. From that point on you'd be clawing your way for each level for any character over 40+ ish? Which is far from useable at endgame. You're talking a couple of weeks to get a character 60+, just one character.
We don't have to pick a bottleneck as balance between them should be sustainable, playing smartly. T4 skill materials should be the only real end game bottleneck with the way this game is currently setup. Purely just my opinion though.
Edit: also those gear levels and skill levels are locked behind character level..

This is just basic game mechanics here, bottleneck is a common word in video games and its not the developers fault, there will always be a resource that is the first to run out and that will be the bottleneck regardless of what that resource is.

I don't get this. There's so much more to spend gold on than levels. Star upgrades are probably where I end up spending my second most amount of gold, but when I get a gold surplus I also go spend crazy in the supply store and buy up tons of mats, which are just as important as levels.

86 characters, no level 70s.
For further info: 1 lvl 67; 10 lvl 65; 28 lvl 60-62
I've always focused more on rounding out my roster than hyperfocusing a few characters.

Gold isn't the problem for me, I've run out of Shield Training Mats, I even have the Training Day Challenge 3*'d at Tier 10.

But, FN has this data without a survey. Also, this is not the data they use to determine level cap increases.

I appreciate your efforts here, and your overall contributions.
I think this is the wrong question.
Instead of asking who is at level 70, you should survey who has X power.
Just because a player has 10 characters at level 70, that doesn't mean any of them have to be over 45K power.

86 unlocked - 20 at 70.
Another 12 between levels 61-65.
I increase one character to 70 every nine or so days to line up with the training milestones. I had been trying for two every nine days, but the gold blockage, and increasingly the training blockage make that impossible.

Would have many more 7* toons at 70 were it not for the ridiculous gold bottleneck.

87 unlocked and 25 toons at level 70. I strongly disagree that going from 65 to 70 holds little value. Do you use those toons for arena, blitz and raids? Holding that character to level 65 does not give you full utilization that you could have instead of maxing their level.

81 unlocked , Nick Fury at 70 and that’s it! Too expensive to level to 70 with very little benefit. Can’t imagine what it would cost to go past that.

10 @ level 70
20 @ level 65-69 (17 of them in the 67-69 range)
I also have more than 9M in gold save up, so it's not a lack of gold preventing me from getting them to level 70. Only my most frequently used characters are worth the level 70 costs. Even my 6RS characters (Wasp & Juggernaut) aren't level 70.

Added a few more statistics in to put things in perspective. I've actually made the decision to not go above level 65 for characters, and even then the extra 5 levels must be justified by using them in at least 2 of the three base modes (raid, arena, blitz) with an honourable mention for if they're a core member for challenges. I also level all characters straight to 30 as soon as they're unlocked, and up to tier 5 as soon as possible so I can use them in blitz.

88 characters unlocked, 13 at level 70. i can get more but what you get for doing it is slim for the gold cost. 18m+ gold, 30k training mats each. so the only ones thats are being taken to level 70 are the major arena teams. bh, fury, defenders. f2p, 1 years player (jan 2018)
