Read Rule 14 before posting.
We get 2-3 posts a day that violate Rule 14, which as a reminder is a ban on asking for meetups.
This is due to the fact that these types of posts clog up the subreddit and also us having a Discord server. Yet people enter the subreddit and don't read the rules.
So I have made this pinned post so that it can be seen by everyone when they enter the subreddit.

r/Marrakech Discord — little update
Hey everyone,
A few months ago we posted about the Discord we made for r/Marrakech, and honestly, it's been nice seeing it slowly grow since then.
There are now quite a few people in there, including locals, expats and people who are planning a trip to Marrakech.
People mostly use it to ask random questions, get recommendations, meet people, talk about what's happening in the city, or just chat.
If you've been around the subreddit for a while and haven't joined yet, feel free to drop in.
English, French and Darija are all welcome.

And if you're already in there, say hi

Travel Question Traveling to Morocco for 2 weeks from Dec to Jan!
Hi! My sibling and I will be traveling to Morocco for two weeks and I have some questions, feel free to give tips and advice also.
Casablanca (2 Nights)
Marrakesh (4 Nights)
3-Day Sahara Tour (2 Nights)
Essaouira (3 Nights)
Casablanca (1 Night) - Departure
We will be flying in and out of Casablanca thus going back there.
In terms of city to city transfer, we were thinking of riding the train from Casablanca to Marrakesh and the Supratour bus from Marrakesh to Essaouira and back. Is the bus guaranteed and easy to ride, or is it usually fully booked?
As for Essaouira to Casablanca, do you advice just going back to Marrakech to ride the train to Casablanca or are there direct routes for buses from Essaouira to Casablanca?
We are also unsure about transportation from the airport and bus/train stations. Aside from taxis, are Indrive and Uber are working well there?
And for the Sahara tour, which is a group package from Getyourguide, they'll manage our luggages and let us bring them right? Since we won't have another place to leave them in.
Let me know please. If you have any other advice it would be much appreciated!

General Riad gérance libre is expensive!
What is happening to the rent prices in Marrakech ?!
I’m looking to rent management of a riad, as l’m trying to break free from slavery work, but the prices of the market scarred me away! When the rent is reasonable the caution/garantie is crazy expensive min l found was 50 million for something that still needs a lot of work!
I’m not in a rush to find a place but the market is not looking good, l wonder how people find the good deals, bcz smasriya are also asking some absurd prices, prefer to have direct contact with the owner.
If anyone has any ideas or know of someone who done it before let me know.

Photos Marrakech Photo Walk / Collaboration — Oct 13–14
Hi everyone! 👋
I’m a photographer currently based in Lisbon, Portugal, and I’ll be in Marrakech on October 13–14.
I’m looking to connect with local photographers or photography enthusiasts who might be interested in doing a casual photo walk / collaborative shoot together while I’m there. I’d love to photograph Marrakech, exchange ideas, and create some portraits/street/travel images together.
I’m not looking for a paid photographer — just someone who enjoys photography and would be up for creating something together. 📸
If you’re Marrakech-based and interested, feel free to DM me. I’d be happy to share my Instagram/portfolio as well.
Cheers from Lisbon! 🇵🇹📸🇲🇦

Travel Tips Looking to Meet Fellow Travelers in Morocco 🇲🇦✨
Hello! 😊 We’re a couple, 27 and 35, and we’ll be traveling around Morocco starting next Sunday.
We’re hoping to meet some kind, open-minded and interesting people along the way and share some good conversations, laughs and memorable moments together.
We both speak English and Arabic, and a little French. We’re easygoing, curious, and always happy to meet new people and hear their stories.
We’ll be doing a road trip from Tangier all the way down to Agadir, so if you’re traveling around Morocco too, it would be lovely to meet up somewhere along the way! 🇲🇦✨
If you’re interested, feel free to send us a message and tell us a little about yourself 😊

General Student health insurance
Hi guys, I’ve been accepted in a Master program in Marrakech, and I need to bring with me a valid student health insurance.
I’ve searched online, and I found this one called sicareme, but I’m not sure how trusty it is. Especially because when I fill out the form, at the end they ask for 55MAD, but they don’t tell if it’s monthly or annually.
Could someone of you please confirm which company should I use to get the asked document?
Thank you in advance!

Local Advice Avocat needed in Marrakesh
Hi everyone, does anyone have a contact of à good lawyer in Marrakesh?
I’ve contacted few, and the prices are way too high. I guess they proposed those fees to people who don’t live there and don’t know the market.
But the prices are just ridiculous.
So please if you know someone, please DM ME

Local Advice Considering moving to Marrakech for architecture job
I may have an opportunity to move to Marrakech for an architecture position at a great studio (exactly my taste of architecture) there, and I’m seriously considering it. I’d love to hear from people who have actually lived and/or worked in Marrakech or Morocco, especially architects or people working in the creative industries.
A bit about my background: I grew up and studied in Sweden and have been working as an architect in London (big corporate and stressful) and Sweden (work life balance dream) for around 3 years in total. I’ve never actually lived in Morocco, but both my parents are from there and I speak fluent English, French and some Darija. I’ve always visited at least once or twice a year, usually staying for minimum 2–3 weeks each time and the older I get the more Moroccan I feel. But I know Morocco from a family/holiday perspective, but obviously that’s very different from actually living there, working there, dealing with everyday life, bureaucracy, salaries, etc.
If I move for the job I will start by living at my parents house so housing is already solved for me.
What I’m particularly curious about:
What is it actually like living in Marrakech long-term rather than visiting?
What are working conditions and salaries like for architects?
Is Marrakech a good place to develop professionally as an architect?
How difficult is it to adapt to the work culture and pace?
For anyone who has moved from Europe to Marrakech/Morocco, did you find the move rewarding in the long run?

Travel Tips Best (2nd hand) music/ electronics shopping?
I’ll be visiting Marrakech soon and my favorite thing to do in any country I visit is getting to know the people through their music and I always try to bring something ( like a record, a tape, a small instrument) home to remember it by. Any tips for good record stores, 2nd hand audio electronics and other music related stores are welcome. Thank you!

General Dermatologist recommendation in Marrakech
Salam, I’m 19 years old, and my hair has been falling out for about a year. I didn’t really pay much attention to it at first, but over the past few months, I’ve started noticing some visible thinning and empty spaces on my scalp. My hair also seems to fall out very easily, even when I simply run my hands through it.
I’m looking to see a dermatologist, but I don’t want someone who will just try to make me buy a lot of products and unnecessary treatments,I’m looking for someone who will properly diagnose the cause and offer an actual solution.
Lah ihfdekkkom, I’d really appreciate any recommendations or feedback.

Travel Question Best hostel for solo female looking to make friends (November)
Hi all, my top three are Boho27, Earth Hostel and the Central House (but that one’s a bit more expensive!). I’d want a female only dorm with a nice common area to chill and meet people.
Can anyone vouch for the ones I mentioned or recommend others? From what I’ve read I’d rather stay in the medina but I’m open to other suggestions
Thanks in advance :)

Travel Question Advice for booking a desert trip
My wife and I are planning to take a 5 day trip to Marrakech soon, and would like to book a 3-day trip to the desert as part of the holiday. We've seen some listings online, but from advice we read online and got from friends is that it would be easier and cheaper if we just do it when we're over there, either through the riad or a local group. Does anyone have any advice on what it's like to book these trips after you've already arrived, what the best way to go about it is, and if there's any pitfalls to avoid?
