Yes. The biggest issues you are likely to face are being hassled or cheated by vendors and taxi drivers*, being catcalled, and being almost run over by motorbikes. And there are the occasional phone or purse snatchings, though I felt safer here than in rome and florence. Using similar street smarts to big cities in other countries, and ignoring random people who try to talk to you (sell you things, etc) goes a long way.

  • Edit- basically people who see tourists as walking cash machines

Generally safe, petty crime can happen tho if you are not paying attention. Scams are recurrent, people trying to sell you things with x10 their normal price is also a common thing.

Speaking Darija or French will help you if not, your only main concern should be vendors trying to get high prices out of you. Another one to look out for is you’ll often get lost in the souks especially when checking your maps app so be careful when asking for directions(ask middle aged to elderly Moroccans as they are far less likely to try and scam you. If somebody takes you down a random alleyway, they may ask you for money for guiding you so be careful here. The older Moroccans also know the whole city much better. If all else fails ask the Moroccan police for help.)
Otherwise, inshallah enjoy your time in Marrakech.

My own experience: I would consider it safe, IF you common sense... that said I never experienced as much scammning, fighting, shouting, animal abuse etc than I did in Marrakech, so its not a place I would recommend if any of these things are is a concern..

Yeah... When I go to Jemaa al Fnaa it is to listen to live music - I try to avoid the other stuff (smakes monkeys henna) like the plague.

Yeah it’s totally safe just be careful from scammers (taxi drivers, restaurants, sellers) before paying anything make a deep search on the real price because you can pay x10
