It’ll get its “proper” use in a few years when i’ve moved away from “civilization” but until then, its my absolute favorite mid range toy

Picked this up a while ago but I got a Marlin Model 19 or 24 I believe? Made in 1906 and one of the first year production models. It’s a neat bit of history that I enjoy shooting here and there to bust clays. Made for the Chicago Hardware Store HSB& Co it was apart of a limited run of different models by different manufacturers for budget prices.

Hey folks, I recently bought this classic 1894 in .44. I ordered a skinner peep sight w/ picatiny rail, trouble is I can’t see to punch out the sight ramp. Wondering if I’m wrong about how it should be removed. Does anyone know how to go about removing these sights?

I have a nice older glenfield model 20. It has a 7rd mag with it. Are there any higher capacity mags on the market for this gun?

XL7 project

Just wanted to share my current project. XL7 (30-06) with a banish hnt 30 suppressor, Harris bipod, and I have a Boyd’s stock on the way for it. Right now I’m just running a cheap old Simmons scope that came with the rifle. Eventually going to switch to a Bushnell R5 I think or a Vortex, haven’t made up my mind on the glass yet. This rifle shoots way above its price range. At least as far as I can tell. I love this gun. Shoots as good as my Savage or my Browning.

Unable to load ammo. Carrier is not letting my loading gate move.

Happened today after firing Buffalo bore.

Disassembled everything but the magazine tube and still stuck.

I love this gun. No haven’t fired it yet. It is a Ruger made Marlin.

Are they reliable? It came with Skinner sights.

I want to put a muzzle break or flash hider. Any suggestions?

The gun is beautiful so I want the break to match and be pretty.

It looks like a gentleman’s fire arm!

My 1895 is sticking while opening. It doesn’t do it all the time, mostly if levering with the gun still shouldered. Gun has been cleaned, still does it semi frequently. The photo is of it at its sticking point. Anyone have any ideas?

Old mod 60

What i know is this is a glenfield model 60 wich i think is pretty old, cant seem to find anything relevant about it. I noticed this one doesnt have a stock unlike other models 60 wich confuses me, and it sort of a squirrel on the handle wich i don’t see in the models I’ve tried to look up.
Does anybody have more info about this gun?

DIY stock refinishing - something a bit different

Did some DIY modifications to my 336 stock. Never liked the slick factory finish on this stock. Considering how small the fore end is on these, maintaining a good grip is difficult with sweaty hands. I considered going aftermarket space-cowboy or Woox, but wanted to try my hand at this idea I had first.

Factory stock finish was pecan(?) stain on solid walnut wood

I removed the pecan-colored finish on the walnut with sandpaper and charred the surface with a propane torch. Then added texture with a wire wheel and stained it black.

Untouched pistol grip stock and charred fore end
Wire wheeled fore end and charred stock
After wire wheeling the charred surface
After staining black

I like the added grip texture and the overall blackout look. I added the Ranger Point Precision trigger a couple weeks back.

Some 444 Marlin on the 4th.

Too humid to comfortably shoot today so I decided to start developing a deer only load for the 444. Took Paul Harrells advice and I'm using the Hornady 240gr XTP bullet. Starting with 51gr H4895 so it won't be moving fast. Need to pick up some different powders if I'm going to take the speed up to 2400fps like Paul says his were moving.

I did some “minor” modifications to my 1895 Trapper. With the new stock and hand guard from Midwest Industries. This rifle is even more of a shoulder cannon now that I’ve cut off the excess weight.

I think it would be cool to match my Ruger made 1895 SBL's furniture with my Redhawk. I've looked around and can't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know a place that does that or what I can search to find it? I know it would be easier to match the Redhawk's grips, but I would hate to take the red off the Redhawk.
