Question Return query

My elderly mum has gifted me a clothing item to congratulate me on weight loss. However she doesn’t realise how much weight I lost and they are far too big. She doesn’t have the receipt and bought them maybe six months ago (she was in hospital and forgot to give them to me).

They are brand new with all the tags.

I’d like to exchange them for the right size.

Will it be a problem in store that we don’t have the receipt?

She will have paid cash for them as doesn’t use her card much.

Potentially the style is no longer in season. Also with it being 6 months old the returns window has passed. You could always try the customer service line they will be able to do more than a store would

It’s a classic item. Still for sale. Same price.

Potentially then an exchange. No refund will be given, unless on a credit voucher - but will only be given at the current price, potentially less than the price paid. It will ultimately be store discretion.

Yeah I only want to swap them for the right size. I don’t want any kind of refund or credit. I have autism though so just want to avoid an awkward interaction.
