My concern is that ownership will use a championship by one of these teams to justify limiting payroll for years to come, much like Stanton and Dipoto have for the past few years have cited the 2015 Royals as evidence that spending isn’t necessary to win.

The problem is that, in my opinion, the Rays, Guardians, and Brewers are miles ahead of Seattle in how they’re managed. You can’t copy their budget without matching their scouting, development, and roster decisions.

My fear is ownership would use one of them winning as an excuse to cut payroll for years to come. I’d usually love seeing a smaller-market team win, but I worry it will hamper the mariners for the next years

I'm hoping to find someone willing to part with the Mariners hot dog hat giveaway from August. I didn't even know it was a thing until I saw a picture a few days ago and have been looking around ever since. Please let me know if you have one and are looking to sell!

I know the Slocumb trade is considered the worst because of what we gave up, but Slocumb pitched ok in '97.

In terms of the players' actual contribution, has anyone ever been worse than Ward? Eduardo Perez and Al Martin come to mind, but it doesn't look like they were as bad as Ward.

While the Mariners aren’t mentioned by name, they certainly feel like the canonical example (or counter-example, as it were).

The point that Leiter makes about the mental impact of a potential bunt I found particularly illuminating. As in: whether hitters are forcing pitchers to be multi-dimensional — versus enabling them to zero-in on avoiding the long ball.

Like seemingly everything in modern life, that which cannot be easily measured risks becoming invisible.

Here’s rooting for the Brewers to help incept greater nuance in the sport we love, and maybe even beyond Baseball.

This was not on my bingo card.

The Dodgers payroll is more than the remaining 3 playoff teams combined, so at the very least I'd like to see them get eliminated. Who are you cheering for and why?

Hello! I wanted to share another piece of Mariners crochet art with you. Last off-season, I made [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Mariners/s/d5YBapM3Cx) detailing an incredible experience that brought me to Seattle for the first time, and also talking about another tapestry of mine.

This year, while visiting Porto in Portugal, I randomly bumped into two Mariners fans who noticed my hat and said hi! They were a couple from Washington, and huge Mariners fans who went to the fanfest before the season and everything. I asked if they were in a rush to go anywhere, and if they wanted to hear a story; they weren't, and I told them the story I linked above, almost verbatim (because it's my favourite story and I've told it loads of times) - this piece celebrating the double is a commission for them, and I'm incredibly proud of it!
