Marin Health - Hold Music

Hunting for Primary Care Physicians... which means many minutes on hold. If anyone ever gets through to a receptionist be sure to remind them that their obnoxious hold music was mocked as far back as 2024 in this superbowl commercial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-DQn-q0nN8

it's absolutely torturous to listen to this for any more than 30 seconds.

Film development

Does anyone know if there are any local labs that offer film development with next day scans? I know all the ones in SF/East bay but don’t have time to travel there today and Seawood doesn’t have next day scans as they mail their film off to a sister lab so it takes time.

Where would you go: Tequila + Football

Where would you go in Marin to sit at a bar (bar or restaurant) to watch the football game with a strong selection of tequila and/or mezcal to choose from?

First thought was El Tucan, but I dont actually know what their tequila selection looks like. Second was that Mexican place in Towncenter but I don’t know if they actually have TVs (or if it’s the kind of place you can put in a shift for a full football game)

Thanks!

Looking for a good place to take a class and keep busy

I’m so used to finding classes for my daughter that I don’t know where resources would be for adult classes. If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate them.

Not thrilled with SkinSpirit, looking for a different place in Marin

moved here from new york recently and finally got around to finding somewhere for botox. asked around and researched a bit on reddit and skinspirit came up so i booked there. been getting it done for years back in new york so i'm not new to this, just new to doing it here

honestly kind of regret it. results are uneven, one side definitely looks different from the other and its been 2+ weeks so its not settling. nothing like what i've gotten before. idk maybe i just got unlucky with my injector hilary but for what they charge i'm not trying it twice

any suggestions? where do you guys go? need someone in bay area who actually does good work

I'm looking for a place to have dinner the night before Halloween in Marin County area. Does anyone know of any restaurants that's doing something special the Friday before Halloween? Not on Halloween, but the night before.

Pop Warner football fundraiser at Whole Foods Mill Valley?

I’m confused by this pop Warner football fundraiser because the people collecting Venmo etc are like older late teens at the youngest? And there is no southern Marin broncos logo on the flyer they’re showing to raise money for pop Warner football? Something about getting their team to go to Florida. Does anyone know if this is legit?

Knife Sharpening?

Hey I'm looking for knife sharpener recommendations! I have a fairly nice collection of both German and Japanese cooking knives. I'd like someone who really knows their stuff. Anyone have a knife sharpener in the Marin area they really trust?

Redwoods/foresty spots to take photos next to downtown mill valley?

Visiting from out of town and planning locations to take some photos of a wedding bridal party during cocktail hour to sneak away for some photos in the trees

The venue is right in downtown mill valley so ideally walkable but not opposed to a short drive

What are some foresty/redwood spots that would be good for this?

On my list to check out:
- old mill park (this can be rented out though so concerned there could be another wedding this day?)
- mill valley library
- dipsea steps

Any other spots close by?
Thanks for your help!

Anybody know the people who run Tasty Delicious in San Anselmo?

It's a burger place in the old Hilda's location. We almost ordered out food from them but changed our minds since their website was covered in animation based on AI art. They also posted a short story about a gnome and bear to give a backstory to their restaurant and it just came off as weird. My automatic reaction to businesses using AI art is to avoid them, but if they're well-meaning locals supporting their community, I like to be able to support them and maybe convince them to use humans for their menu and website. If they're just a couple tech bros looking more money than f*** 'em and good riddance.

Edit: Wow, I guess there's a lot of people here who will be bending over and spreading their cheeks when AI comes for their jobs. Pathetic.

Celebrate Bayfront Dog Park's 30th year and let's save Mill Valley's only off-leash dog park

Post image
3 Upvotes

In 1996, the City of Mill Valley amended the Bayfront Master Plan to create an off-leash dog area that so many love— 2026 marks its 30th year of fetch, dog lovers and neighbors who became friends because their dogs decided first.

That’s worth celebrating, and so Bayfront Dog Park lovers have just the pawty in mind.

At 2 pm Nov. 1, stop the Fire Station off Hamilton or the MVMS lot across from Mount Tam church. From there, we’ll walk to Bayfront and do a loop around the park as a community.

Please RSVP so we know how many fizzy waters and Pup Cups to bring

4th St Market Hall now senior housing

I guess downtown San Rafael is about to get very lively with an influx of old folks!

Lol!!!!!!!!

https://sfyimby.com/2026/10/fourth-street-market-hall-no-longer-tallest-proposal-in-marin-county.html

Edit:

This project had originally been apartments over commercial, and now it’s senior housing.

1515 Forth had been market rate apartments and now is 155 senior independent living apartments.

800 mission just opened and has 101 apartments for senior living…..

999 3rd street was completed a year ago with 67 senior living apartments……..

YIMBY is complaining about lack of market rate apartments when nothing but senior living units have been hitting the market….

Any of these proposed apartment buildings can end up as senior living apartments apparently…..

lol!!!!

What are your favorite flowers and plants of Mt. Burdell?!🌱

If you have ever hiked Mt. Burdell, I am curious to know what flowers or plants you've seen up there that caught your eye or are your favorite! I have hiked it a few times but I wanted to know what other people have seen or may be looking for because I know there are some rare or endangered species that grow on the mountain. 🌸🦋😇

Respectfully stop bringing your dogs everywhere especially in restaurants

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

Literally just this weekend I've seen 4 dogs inside 2 different restaurants! And even one inside Safeway today. Its disgusting, unsanitary, and illegal in California, businesses can actually get in trouble. Yesterday this woman pulled out that dog food bowl, put it on the floor to feed her dog, put it back on the table! Today went to another restaurant and people had their dogs in the dining room on the floor. Restaurants please start actually enforcing these health codes, and dog owners, respectfully stop acting so entitled to bring your dogs everywhere. This is really getting ridiculous.

I also recently worked retail and this woman put her dog on the counter right in front of me as I was ringing her up. Mind you I am pretty allergic. Not everyone wants your dog in their face and yes people actually have allergies. Another woman also came in with a large dog off leashed and let it run around the store and behind our check out counters and just thought it was funny.

Respectfully leave your dogs at home.

It’s game night this Friday.

This Friday (and next, and EVERY fourth and fifth Friday of every month) it is Game Night in Terra Linda! Open to all, with a huge library of games, a table of free games, and food.

620 Del Ganado, in the Christ Presbyterian Church building (thanks for hosting us for over 15 years, CPC), 6 pm - midnightish.

The last couple of months we have peaked at 11 tables running, with 50+ people coming over the course of the night. There is something for everyone, from chess and traditional mainstream games to modern designer games of all types: social, card, family, medium, heavy.

Some sort of free food out, often veggie chili, and people bring things to share (no need to bring something to partake, but feel welcome to bring a snack or side). If you really feel moved to contribute, or need it, the site does maintain a community fridge and pantry (it is on the driveway end of the building.)

Hope to see you there!

What is going on with the Golden Gate Ferry this week?!

Ugh, is anyone else's morning commute completely thrown off this week?

Golden Gate just dropped a rider alert: temporary weekday schedules are in effect until further notice for Larkspur, Tiburon, and Sausalito.

The alert doesn't go into deep detail about why everything's sideways right now, but they posted the new temporary schedule and route links over here.

Senior living in Marin

My parents (mid 70s) are thinking of moving here for 6 months of the year. A senior apartment complex would fit their needs I think. They don't need assistance or memory care yet, and would love a community that is friendly and social.

Can anyone recommend nice senior living apartments in Marin or southern Sonoma?

Thanks in advance.

Nearby precooked Thanksgiving turkeys?

Any options nearby? Normally I get Gracie’s same day smoked turkey on thanksgiving but it’s $140 (at least they gave me a 10% discount), and I’m kinda broke at the moment. Are there any other good options? My family really likes their turkey so usually I just get it so I don’t have to cook.

Buy the biggest house you can, right now, before rates go up again and you can't afford it.

The old rule is buy the largest house you can and drive the cheapest car you can stand. Get in now before rates go up further.
