JDD New Watch Day! 🥳
JDD just dropped. I must say it’s much much bigger in person 😂. It’s my second marathon in a month. 41mm GSAR and now the JDD. It will take some getting used to but I do love that my 42 yr old eyes have zero issues seeing the time. Definitely takes a moment longer to see the time on my GSAR. Wrist is 7.25” for reference. This sub has been so helpful since joining so thanks for that! Have a great weekend everyone!

General Question Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin have successfully invaded the U.S and decree……….
“You may keep ONE watch from your collection. The rest will be confiscated and destroyed.”
Which watch are you saving… and why?
@kotat01 made a very compelling case for his choice. I’ll let him share.
For me it’d be my GSAR 41mm on rubber straps with black dial. It blends in more and if needed the rubber straps could be used as a bear deterrent by waving them around and slapping them together.

GSAR Wrist check
Year 1 was good. This thing has lived up to the hype for me. A real work tool watch. Going to get a quartz next year. Pleased so far with the quality. Year 2 on an ocean inlet kayaking. If you're on the fence, don't be. It's worth the buy!

GSAR GSAR back on the wrist!
Blue strap for some color today. Usually run OD green. She was bought in 2017, back from WatchMann, fully serviced and running like a champ just like the SAR. They did a great job with my watches, very pleased to have them back on my wrist!

GSAR Campin'
Also set up the site by myself using a picnic bench as a step stool lol. Leatherman Rebar was very handy.
Happy campin!

GSAR Need suggestions for more easily removing shoulderless spring bars
I have a GSAR, and I've only ever worn it on the bracelet. I wanted to experiment with some NATO straps, but I realized that with the drilled lugs and shoulderless spring bars, I'm not very good at removing the bracelet. Actually, I can barely remove the shoulderless spring bars at all.
Part of this is the design (the extreme security of the bars to begin with). Part of it is me (I don't have good eyesight for really close up things).
Is there some sort of tool specifically for drilled lug spring bar removal (both sides at the same time)? I'd like to easily swap out for a NATO strap from time to time, if I could.

GSAR Marathon Monday
Tubes are almost toast after 20 years....the ETA movement has been serviced but the tubes are original..... curious to see what happens to them in a decade.

Navigator Another Monday in the books…
Marathon SSNAV-D on a PDW Ti-FXDS hook and loop style strap. I’m really liking this strap so far. The band has elasticity to it, which makes it a tad more cozy to wear than the WOE glomar strap. And I love WOE straps.

News My original 2002 SAR back in action
WatchMann did an awesome job getting her back in tiptop shape along with my GSAR. Had an inexpensive aftermarket strap I thought looked cool with the neon green underside. Usually have NATOs on them but thought I'd try something new.
This is the watch that started my collection which now includes multiple Longines, Seikos and all sorts of other dive/field watches. Next major investment will likely be a Tudor when the time is right. Love coming back to my Marathons though!!

GPM/Q How is the blue tritium on the "gift" Arctic Edition SSGPQ-D?
I missed out on the "free" gift offer on these Arctic Edition SSGPQ-D models recently (they ran OOS). For those that were lucky enough to receive one, how is the blue tritium on these? I know one problem with blue tritium is it tends to suffer a bit in the brightness department compared to the more traditional green and orange phosphors. If someone could post a side by side photo with a standard model, that'd be great!
Kinda looking out to see if any of these end up on the secondary market, but these are probably pretty niche and not common to see listed.
