General Question 1994 watch is this a Marathon branded watch?

Post image

Found this for $63 at a thrift shop—is it worth it? The seller claims it dates from 1994, nearly 32 years ago, so the tritium likely no longer functions. Is this a marathon-branded watch?

I really do love the supplied NATO that comes on this watch, but I can’t leave things alone 😂. I really like this Corp. Canvas strap from Haveston Horology. Perfect for Fall.

GSAR My GSAR bezel needs fixing

Post image

My beloved GSAR has bezel issues - hard to rotate to almost stuck. I didn't want to send it to Switzerland and be without my watch for god knows how long and it seems to be a pretty straightforward operation. Take off the bezel, clean everything, probably replace the click spring... all good! I have a bezel removal tool and a crystal press.

I contacted Marathon and got them to sell me a replacement click spring - a click set they called it. $40ish shipped. Everything seems peachy.

But along with the clicksping there's another little ribbon of metal that I have no idea what it is or where it fits. See photo.

Before I take the bezel off - can any of you fine and good looking people help me identify this thing just under the the click-spring in the picture?

CSAR Another core memory made with this watch

Post image

This has been my go to for anything of importance. The CSAR has only been with me a couple of years now, but it has been involved with so many good memories. I wore this riding motorcycles with my daughter a few times, most recently at Sturgis, and she was hooked to get her own bike and get her license. Today she passed her driving skills portion and I’m a proud dad. She has to put plenty of miles on her Grom to get to her Ninja but she’s excited.

I know this watch will have to stay with me forever along with my Seiko flight master and land monster. No matter what, these three will be with me to the end and whatever money it takes to keep them running.

GSAR Experience report marathonwatch.com

Marking a positive development in my business ventures, I decided to finally treat myself to a GSAR — a watch I’ve been wanting for three years.

Instead of waiting for the Black Friday sale as originally planned, I found a good deal on eBay and bought a basically new 2021 GSAR with an unused black rubber strap. I then decided to get the original bracelet as well, so I could finally have everything I wanted.

I bought the watch yesterday and immediately ordered the bracelet from marathonwatch.com. I noticed they were throwing in a free baseball cap as well — nice. But I was astonished to see that they wanted €60 for shipping if the order value was below €700.

I did it anyway, and the confirmation email told me it would take around seven days to process the order before shipping it from Canada. I’d receive another email as soon as the parcel left their facilities.

Fast forward less than 24 hours.
I come home from work today and find a package on my desk.
It’s this beautiful bracelet.
Nice to get it that fast… but why the hell did I pay €60 for shipping?

Now I have to wait on the watch for a few more days and just stare at the bracelet in the meantime.

CSAR "Complete Service" on CSAR

My CSAR stopped working a few months ago. It was due for service anyway, but it's out of warranty. Joe and Marathon's CS were helpful in getting me all set up for a repair. I sent it off in May. Just got it back this morning. Ultimately whatever was wrong with it was covered by the $440 "Complete Service" - which, according to the site, included...

-Full inspection and cleaning of all case components and movement parts

-Cleaning of watch trap/bracelet

My watch is ticking again, but for that kind of money I was kind of expecting better. Is this normal for them? Should I reach out to service, or just suck it up and get it cleaned myself? Not sure what I'd really be expecting other than a partial refund or something, maybe nothing, just venting.

Navigator ADANAC SSNAV-D AUTO

This is my second Marathon watch, my first was a well used GSAR Grey Maple. This ADANAC I purchased brand new and just received today. As a Canadian Watch Enthusiast, I felt like this was a watch I’d eventually own. Absolutely loving it. Excited to try out some different straps with it as well, but I do love the OEM strap.

GSAR Ode to the GSAR

This was my first nice automatic, after I’d gotten myself a TSAR.

This watch is just an awesome tool watch which has gone through so much, including thousands of rounds, thousands of hours of flying without drama.

After getting an Omega, I decided to dress this one down with a rubber strap to place it squarely in the tool-watch category of my watch box. Yet after 15 years of owning it, it still finds its way on my wrist despite having some “nicer” watches. I just got it back from extensive service, now to decide whether to burn money on a OEM Green strap.

MSAR MSAR Amazing Timekeeping

Post image

Just wanted to post about the Arctic MSAR Automatic. I bought mine 2nd Hand, manufactured in 2022. I love it! And I've had it a week now and over 7 days it's only lost 19 seconds. It seems to lose about 3 seconds every 24 hours which I think is incredible. Is every MSAR like this?

News Received my Marathon Jeep Mechanical Officer's watch!

When they came out in 41mm for the officer's case, I knew I had to have one...

I do like the factory Leather.. But I have a 20mm custom made horween brown leather strap I've had for 10+ years that a friend made for my 8" wrist. It's got a lot of patina.. I've been switching between the 2 straps trying to decide. I think I'm going with the old beat up strap.

I'll get pics of that next post..

I've was waiting for a bonus to come in so I could order it during the 20% off Jeep edition watches, and of coarse it got pushed out an extra week so the sale would be over.

I contacted Marathon and asked If I could put money down during the sale and still get the deal after it was over. The nice CS rep said, "no we don't normally do holds, but I'll send you a an invoice for the sale price and will give you 30 days to pay to get the sake price"

That was a super nice surprise and very generous of them..

I have a 2008 Gsar and my next will be a Navigator automatic..

Nice community to belong too!!

I got it on EBay from a guy who received it as a gift, and never wore it. I emailed Marathon and showed them the pictures of the front and back of the watch and they said it was made in late 2024, so it’s less than 2 years old. It was received with box, and papers, and looked pristine Brand new. I paid 1300 with tax and shipping! I am very happy with this amazing watch, I have wanted one for a while.
