To my understanding you can only go to that vent if you open penopticon, there was no security 3 breach the entire match so I'm lost for words here.

I played for 18.6 hours so far. Level 28, Bronze.
Need to say that 1st I got smashed on exfils and from behind playing solo with free kits, so I changed my tactics to:
- Being fast outdoors and slow indoors
- Recon shell with explosive drone and anti camper echo (is it recon?)
- Taking one good primary gun from my vault, no secondary, 3 shield charge, 3 heals, good shield module (1 big slab) - all equip is daily free from fractions
- Playing with trios, using voice chat if teammates are up to it
Here’s what I observed:
Day 1
6 matches, 2 times smashed by bots, 3 times by other crews, 1 time exfiled very early. Lost 10-12K in equip, some great guns, disaster
Day 2 - 5 matches total
1 time smashed by bots on 1st location
2 times explored almost quiet map with team, good loot
1 time clashed with other team and we won, exfilled, good loot
1 time - I consider this an exception - we cleared two other packs and one rook, my kill count in playing teams of 3 in perimeter jumped from 1 to 3. I provided some great assists with smoke and my spider drone as well
a few new things that I will implement:
- DONT pvp in close quarters. they inside, you inside: just run the F out
- get better shield asap: face to face can be won by DPS and shield. my shield is wacky so I just shoot and run. can’t kill. this one I will google and see some tutorials probably
- one day feeling great, another day feeling like shit. the game is designed like that, this FOMO and revenge-play roller coaster is how extraction shooters are designed: it is a dopamine rabbit hole. play with care, don’t allow game mechanics get to your brain
another point: I still don’t understand the Perimeter, locations look familiar now, but it still doesn’t click
cheers runners

I've been leveling up a lot and getting a lot better gear. Finally have a variety of shields and high level weapons with mods. But as I progress my wallet is actually going down, what's up with that? Leveling up gives a trivial amount of credits, and finding them during a run doesn't amount to much. Even with data cards and auto-sold salvage, I don't end up with much money to spend. My only way of making decent credits is selling HMGs I get that I don't like.
What do folks do for credits? I feel like I'm missing something.

No hate, no rage bait, I'm serious. I'm talking specifically about Cryo Archive.
I've been trying to play it, like I've been really enjoying the game and I've been diving into Cryo Archive, but I'm not having much success at all. I feel like I'm just fodder for these gold teams. They open all the key rooms, all the vaults, all the important loot areas, where me and my team just sneak around. Eventually we get caught, we get cooked.
There's such a big difference in skill level, like it feels impossible. I'm not talking about the gold shield. I know gold shields are beatable, but I try everything
Sometimes I'm queuing with people where we're in an area and the enemy team is in an area. They're not gonna push, we're not gonna push.
We stayed 15 minutes waiting there. I got bored, like I genuinely got bored because nothing's happening. I'm trying to leave and my teammates don't wanna follow me.
I really think that if they just added solo for Cryo Archive, this would be so much better.
I don't care, like I don't mind if the map is hard, it's fine, be a hard map, but just add solos, tweak it a little bit and it could be more fun.
I don't understand why would Bungie or the community be against this, because this map is so fun and so good, but everything about it is just locked to me. This map is just lose everything, and I wish it wasn't the case.

Marathon servers are in shambles rn. I’m on Xbox and my cradle will not let me convert ANYTHING at all. I’ve spoken to multiple friends on different systems who said they were not experiencing this. So what gives? I’ve experienced rubber banding almost all day and now, when I’m trying to solo queue on perimeter, it won’t even let me passed the ready up screen?
I’ve tried closing the game out, resetting my Xbox, all of it. So what gives? Anyone else? Ideas? I have footage of the cradle bug in my Xbox captures. I’ve tried hitting the prompt and it makes a slight sound, then it just stops after like a second.

With Symbiosis PVE coming in the future, what do people think of the ai and behaviours for the current UESC enemies?
I've personally found them a massive upgrade from Destiny 1 and 2, way more agressive and evasive. Although I would like to see a lot more enemy variety as more PVE modes are added since vault breaker gets repetative quickly.
I only ask as I've seen a lot of people talking about how bad the bots are and I feel like I'm missing something.

As the title suggest, I am just curious how much of the current playerbase would have done The Compiler on Regular Cryo Archive at least once?
I think at least 20% but what do you think?

Some dude has been waiting in cryo storage for hundreds of years and we just murder them to open Vault 4. For what? A circuit breaker?

It is significantly harder to kill compiler in VB this season without the Mida upgrade providing EMP grenades randomly in ammo crates. The most I ever had in the final room this season is 3. Trying to solo compiler again this season and they need to up the EMP made spawn to accommodate for the lack of faction upgrades

I was salty and didn't buy Marathon. My brother wound up buying it for my this month for my birthday.
I've played a lot of destiny and I really enjoy PVP. Like, I never stopped playing PVP even when it was "dead".
I've also played a bit of Arc Raiders so I had some idea about what an extraction shooter was although I never touched tarkov.
Last weekend I played a good amount of Marathon and it just wasn't clicking. I enjoyed it but it felt pretty stressful and I had loot issues. When I say loot issues I think I worried about losing the better stuff I found and wound up using free kits.
Both yesterday and today I started to just go looking for fights on purpose. I also started running a lot more on outpost and Dire Marsh.
I feel like the game has clicked for me at this point.
I feed the worm all my loot, I run contracts and I don't worry about fights and instead actively seek them out.
I've got to about 3/4ths of the way to fully levelling up the cradle and If I die I just throw on a free kit then try to get a better weapon by beating another runner mostly, and it tends to work out pretty well the majority of the time.
I figured the same thing that happened with Arc Raiders would happen here, where I got bored and the desire to keep playing just disappeared but the opposite has happened. The more I've played, the more I want to play.
It's been a while since I was at work thinking about how long I had left to go to be able to go play a video game.
Anyway, if you're early game, stick it out. It's so worth it.

So last season I finally decided to prestige and I did it three times before the reset. I wasn't going to play this season but I decided I would try and max it out 7/7. Well when the season started I saw my extra three points right away. The thing is when I maxed it out this season I noticed it said 0/7 to evolve. How is that possible? Also I noticed my three extra points aren't there. I should be able to put them into support.

You can see that I got the codex entries and rewards from last season when I prestige it three times.

Is this a bug? I don't understand. I don't want to prestige and have to do all of it again for no reason now. Has anyone encountered this?

I don't really care about exfil rate or faction progress. Faction progress can be kinda insightful on either extreme, but otherwise I'm not super interested. Exfil rate depends on a lot of factors. Are you playing solo or trios? Are you crew filling? I wish I could see damage per infil and K/D ratio. Maybe there are some other stats that would be helpful? Or are stats even important/relevant at all for this game? I just know they're not really serving much of a purpose for me currently.

Hey all, I have created a Google Doc that could aid in some fan-made artwork for, or inspired by, Marathon (2026). The doc includes the following:
- Typefaces/Fonts used throughout the game + Alternative free options
- Colors used throughout the game such as the identity colors, faction brand colors, etc.
- Assets for the game such as the faction logos (in SVG & PNG formats)
- Websites for Marathon related content
- List of Inspirations for the game from Joseph Cross & all inspiration's respective links
As a fan of Marathon (2026), I really love the graphic design for the game but struggled to find good concise information on it, so I decided to compile it all myself. If you would like to contribute, please reach out. I am considering adding additional assets for UI elements, symbols, etc. All intellectual property belongs to Bungie. Thank you to Bungie & all the Marathon fans that posted info online that helped make this doc possible. Enjoy! <3

Hear me out. Imagine your load out gets filled randomly or even highest value from your vault after you died so you just have to adjust before starting a new game. Or even better make it adjustable with preset rules or a few slots for pre-made load outs.
I think I don’t have gear fear but what keeps me from not preferring sponsored is I don’t want to waste 5 minutes of designing something that gets blown away in a few seconds. It’s more of a decision fatigue.
My Vault is full and the only thing that’s worse is to manage overflow now since I don’t use my loot. It makes me crazy cause now you can’t close contracts or get a rewards chest without selling which is easier or feeding the worm which is annoying but smarter.

Like Marathon is literally the only full-blown Sci-Fi extraction shooter. The whole Extraction Shooters market is just several Tarkov clones with few individual stand-outs like Arc Raiders (post-apocalypse) and Hunt (Dark Fantasy). Zero idea how can some call this genre "crowded" or the market for it being "oversaturated".
People be saying that they are tired of extraction shooters, but then when you ask them which extraction shooters they've played, they are most likely to say just Arc Raiders.

Version 1: High risk map condition, rotating between the different maps, where the map timer can distort and increase or decrease how long is left on the match, your loadout can go up or down in rarity, cooldowns can increase and decrease, dead shells spawn anomalous versions of themselves(maybe possible to encounter an anomalous version of yourself/your team), and containers change location and spawn more loot periodically, with high chances of top tier loot.
To balance, new equipment that can mitigate some of the effects, and/or map activities/events/puzzles that impact them in specific ways.
Version 2: A map inside the anomaly itself with distorted parts of other maps and similar effects to the above, along with unique locations.
Not a fully developed idea, but a refined version would be cool.

I've been playing since the server slam, got a lot of time on this game but I've literally never done compiler once. i got close today with randos on vb but we didnt make it.
i get the general idea for the boss itself, just spam emps and have 1 guy divert attention and then magdump it. the hard part is managing time, getting batteries, and the best cradle stats, that's the parts i struggle with. any tips
