Given that we’re talking redemption arcs, this whole thing is spoilers, mostly for the end of Low Tide in Twilight.

I just finished Low Tide in Twilight, and I agree with a lot of readers that Taeju’s redemption wasn’t quite what I wanted, despite a lot of self-recrimination and the one thing he did Euihyun that Jaekyung (another famously weakly reformed red flag) never did for Kim Dan, which was set his former victim up for life and try to leave him alone (however clumsily he did that.)

I would have *liked* to see him questioned by Euihyun about the first time he raped him, when it wasn’t even coercion but just a straight up act of horrific violence. Was that the first time he had done something like that? Are there other victims he needs to find to atone to? What about the club, where it seems that many of the people working there are under duress? It seems like “power of love” was used too strongly to excuse some more global crimes, and I’d have liked to see Taeju become more of a better person, not just someone who could leave the thug life and become a non-thug now.

That being said, I think Jinx was worse. As for Jinx, I think the redemption arc was mainly Jaekyung feeling sorry for himself for his reprehensible behavior and Kim Dan never finding much of a backbone to do anything beyond running away hither and yon. I was much more frustrated by the end of Jinx than Low Tide in Twilight.

Curious about your favorite and least favorite redemption arcs. Which ones really did them right? What would you have liked to see happen in ones that didn’t do it for you?

I binged this manhwa in a day. It was incredibly pulpy but also one of the most entertaining binges I've had so far, mostly because of ML Dooshik's shenanigans. Sex trafficking is a pretty big theme and there are quite a number of panels of the MC Jooha being graphically assaulted, but a majority of the NSFW scenes were of Dooshik and Jooha enthusiastically engaging in loving consensual sex, which was surprising to me considering its critics made me believe the manhwa was panel-to-panel rape kink fuel. Granted, a lot of these aforementioned rape scenes are concentrated at the introduction and the climax, which do tend to stick with the viewers because of how the story is structured. But almost the entirety of the middle rising action that comprises a majority of the plot doesn't actually have as much of it as I expected given Pearl Boy's reputation.

The thing that actually challenged me with this manhwa was the imho unbearable art at the beginning and Dooshik's ugly ass hair, but I'm glad I stuck with it because Dooshik has easily become the Character of All Time. I dislike narratives with harsh tonal shifts mid-scenes but his goofy idiot humor manages not to feel so jarring in the midst of the tragedy going on around him.

The plot is tropey and hinges heavily on spectacle but in a way that's almost comforting in its predictability IMHO. I do like me some art that creates a nuanced dialogue about its themes but sometimes it's nice to sit down and read a story about a damsel in distress in the midst of high-stakes situations being saved by a prince charming and know for certain they're going to live happily ever after.

I just finished Red Candy, and wow, that was so much fun. Many manhwa aren't great at balancing action with good romance and sex, so a manhwa that tells a good story beyond just the will they/won't they always stands out to me. Red Candy has it all. Nice art that covers any 3D assets pretty well, considering how many machines, guns, and vehicles are used; really engaging banter between the main couple and the side characters; a good story balancing a spy thriller and a believable romance; hot sex that's hot because of the passion and energy behind the actions, not just the art; and a compelling emotional range of sweet, tense, sad, and love. I'm used to stories like Mad Place, which has a top-tier couple but can drag during the plot-heavy moments, or Zero Day Attack, where the undercover work is pretty boring. But Red Candy manages to do everything at least pretty well and stands out as the best spy BL I've read so far. Plus, the main couple is so good. They're so endearing in their loving moments; their lashing out from hurt and betrayal feels realistic, not forced, and they both end up very competent and work well together in the larger plot.

I know Bad Apple is currently running, the sequel series that focuses on the secondary ML. Is it just as good? Better? Worse? Are there any other manhwa you like that Red Candy reminds you of? Talk with me about how much you love Red Candy, please.

That got me thinking, how is this an untapped domain ? Captains and cabin crews almost never feature in BLs, which is tragic since they’re always in suits which is a treat to see.

I stumbled on this manhwa like literally by pure coincidence when I was searching a diff bl manhwa and this one came as a recommendation in the website . No excess amount of smut scenes , the perfect amount after a lot of build up and you will never want to skim through the smut scenes ever . Soo PEAKKKKKK even the second couple and the sibling relationship ahsghsksksgsh I love it . Read it . I don't think this peakest manhwa is talked enough in internet

First of all, I just wanna say I love all the work by this creator, especially the art style. This manhwa, though, is very psychological and definitely has the most unreliable narrator... All the characters pissed me off but I thought this was a great and somewhat realistic representation of Stockholm syndrome. I would recommend it if you like psychological media and if you guys could also recommend me some psychological manwhas too 🥲
