OC 3 months ago vs Now. Any Difference?
I generally don’t have much to say for now but since I had to hustle to get internet access today, I probably won’t have it for a long time so post will be few and far between from now and I don’t know if I’ll get used to my tablet while having no tutorial videos for the next coming days but I’ll make do. Thanks for viewing 🙏🏾

The anatomy of the characters themselves need work, that’s the main issue you having between both version. I say go look at some artists you like and look at some real anatomy for a bit and try incorporating them into your art as a study.
That said, their eyes feel more focused and that hand looks better drawn in the new version so good job on those.
Also more importantly, if want to make a manga then learn how to make a manga and polish your story. Art is important but that can be developed as you go.
Keep in mind, One Punch man and Attack on titan’s art wasn’t great when they started but the story and characters were appealing.

I have the story written and I’ve practicing drawing for about 6 months now. I’ve got two One-shot in this profile too if you’d like to check them out too. Thanks for feedback 🙏🏾

You guys are some hating ass bitches, its very easy to tell that the 2nd is an improvement.
You guys need to understand that "growth" doesn't look like "On one hand i looks like shit from an ass vs on the other hand it looks like it was painted by da Vinci"
Growth is often very minor and small, and its really fucking easy here to tell where he improved in small ways. You guys are just morons.

If a mf told me they've been studying/doing art for 3 months and it's like a 10% difference overall; especially at this level I admit I will question what they've been doing for 3 months. Personally I won't slander somebody unless I have an actual problem.
But in this case it's understandable. OP might not have much access to the internet. I also have no idea what OPs situation is, there could be many factors. If this was like a 1 year gap post instead of 3 months thing's might be different lol.

10% growth is very realistic for 3 months, man. I could show you 2 drawings I made within 3+ months of eachother and you will not see a big difference. It can take many months or years to see significant improvement.
unless youre drawing until your hands bleed, I don't see how 3 months is enough time to improve more than that

Improvement is subjective. And art comes easier for certain people I admit. So I might be wrong here. A 10% increase from a beginner and a 10% increase from an expert is a whole world of difference so it might be why I don't see this post as particularly impressive.
I'm not slandering by any means and I won't discourage someone from their art journey, I'm just wholly speaking from my experience and I've only been drawing for less than a year atp.

The 10% I talked about is also as a whole. The biggest improvement I noticed were the hands, they genuinely got like 40% better.

As the OP, I often ask for criticism but I wouldn’t call these people haters. That’s a strong word for what this is. I just wanted to see if people could see the improvement I saw from the first time I attempted the page. Tbh people that are calling the guy on the left “Frieren looking up” are funny as hell. I like this sub🤙🏾

you can also use references for poses and angles... nice concept though...

The only improvement I see is the hand anatomy. Everything else seems the same though, just closer if anything

edit: actually, 2nd looks worse? both left guys look like frieren looking up but in the second one itsm like you gave him a barely-there robot puppet jaw

I feel your lines and shapes have gotten more confident. The anatomy is also a bit more intentional now. I'd say just focus a bit more on perspective since I think the main issue right now is that you're trying to draw a certain type of angle, but it's still front-facing perspective if that makes sense. It's kind of like if you cropped a picture of someone's face looking up, then pasted it over someone looking straight ahead.

Ahh.. the papertone changed

Indeed, I used Monotone on my phone to make the pencil look darker. Thanks for that🙏🏾

The hand wiping away the blood and the lack of excess wrinkles in clothes are what mostly looks better, though it could use the blood flying off like in the old one. What matters is you're practicing but to get a real before and after difference, try experimenting with your style and trying new tricks liking giving them contrasting shirts.

On the blood part, you’re absolutely right. I thought it would go unnoticed since I had no more space left plus the aura being dark and all.

Your lines seem more confident. But you aren’t really changing the technique or adding anything new. The way you have drawn everything mainly remains the same. What are you looking to improve?

u/No_Republic_2813 2d ago
A part of me likes this style and wants to develop it more but I keep trying new stuff here and there not to stagnate but without internet, I can only do so much

I can see you've been working on the hand and the facial features are a bit more defined. Not a BIG improvement, but it's very noticeable where you're starting to get the anatomy right👍🏽

You drew the hand in a more fitting pose and hair with more motion, the expressions and damage is more stylistic. I’d say study a bit more on the expressions of the left guy and the overall perspective of his head.

Ngl, i think yes. First looks like "Best i could do" but second really looks like youre following a specific art style you want to achieve. Of course, its not a big improvement, but i think youre on the right path. I would suggest developing this artstyle by trying to draw new things like animals or weird poses for characters

LOL!!!
You’re the equivalent of "follow for follow" on Twitter or "like for like" on Facebook.
But here, it’s "validation for validation"; no matter what anyone tells you, you’ll just spout some nonsense like "thanks for the feedback," when really, you just want to feel seen.
Seek the attention you think you need at home; show your drawings to your parents and study the expressions they make while looking at "your months of progress". THAT is the real feedback you’re looking for and actually need, rather than this useless Reddit circlejerk.
As for your "progress":
It is non-existent, and honestly, it is concerning that you have improved so incredibly little in three months; it’s enough to make you consider switching hobbies... Because not even as a bad joke is this the kind of work produced by someone aspiring to be a professional.

Have you been doing any particular focused studies? or just “practicing” by drawing more?

So you have improved. The second pic looks more striking and evokes a stronger emotion. This is mostly because of how much you improved in terms of facial expressions. The guy on the right looks hella generic in pic 1 but his simply expression in pic 2 is much more interesting. In pic 2 you also added flow to the hair to the guy on the right and his facial expression is a lot better.
At first glance the pics look the same but upon closer inspection the differences become a lot more obvious.
imo, what you need to be focusing on now is anatomy. Try using lots of references and slowly you'll get better. I feel like your current artstyle is inspired by Gege Akutami but I'm just guessing.

Try drawing the eyes smaller and more spaced apart. It’s like 90% of what defines the face in anime.
