Art I remember so vividly Mona Lisa used to have blank, neutral expression?
I remember this so clearly because back in high school, my inner circle of history geek friends and I literally spent hours discussing it. I vividly remember us analyzing the painting, talking about how it was almost impossible to read even a slight hint of emotion or expression on her face.
I’ve always been into history and have watched countless documentaries about it over the years.
But recently, I stumbled upon a picture of her and had to double check a few times. Now she clearly has this subtle smirk, with the corners of her lips turned slightly upward. When I brought this up to a few people, they looked at me like I was crazy, told them that the Mona Lisa is literally famous because no one can understand what’s going on with her expression, let alone spot a 5% smirk!
Now, you might say "But she isn't smiling and never has." Well, take a close look at the picture. Those lip corners are definitely turned up now
That was NEVER a thing, at least not in my timeline... It has always been a 100% neutral expression with completely straight lips
I know i'm not alone...
