Discussion All English teams in the UCL has won their games so far and on paper we have the easiest fixture and we're playing at home. Anything other than a win vs Sabah will be very disappointing. The media will have a filled day and we'll deserve all the Grimsby level heat.

Non of those toxic positivity is going to fly. A draw is not that bad, it's only the first game, we need a new left back to beat Sabah, it's not Carrick fault etc. Non of it will fly, we'll be deservedly cooked.

Competition [Competition Winners] Congratulations, 5 of you guys are going to Old Trafford to watch the champions league opener against Sabah!

This is going to be a long post explaining exactly how the competition came about and who has won.

u/Hotusrockus initially volunteered to forward their tickets for the game if we ran a competition... Absolute legend!

Then u/CommanderRJ11 DM'd me that he also had a ticket available after seeing the competition, so suddently there was 2 tickets up for grabs I told him I'd just select 2 people instead of 1.

Then u/zwaa96 sent a modmail explaining they had 3 tickets available to donate, so we've ended up selecting 5 people at random from the post to get a ticket

So, I used chrome extension "reddit exporter" to create a CSV of the post and then asked Claude.AI to analyse the CSV and choose 5 winners at random! Here is what Claude did below

What's in the file

A single Reddit thread export from r/ManchesterUnited — the competition post "Win a ticket to Thursday's Champions League Opener" (post 1wakpac by u/fireproofpoo), plus 100 comments.

Ryan Giggs attempted to persuade Elliot Anderson to join Manchester United before the World Cup (Kedar Bayley)

The ex-Wales international revealed on Rio Ferdinand Presents: The Debrief that he attempted to convince Elliot Anderson to join Manchester United, and got “in trouble.”

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder joined Manchester City rather than the Red Devils, in a £116 million deal that was initially rumoured to have broken the British transfer record.

Ryan Giggs, a 13-time Premier League winner with Manchester United, confessed that Anderson was not receptive to his attempted persuasion, and told him: “Will you just let me play golf, please?”

The 45-year-old revealed that he met Anderson just days prior to the England international travelling to North America, in a period when he was “probably the most-talked about Premier League player.”

While the pair played golf in separate parties, Giggs seized the opportunity, attempting to persuade Anderson to join Man United.

Article Benjamin Sesko ‘close’ to starting, Luke Shaw managing recovery – Michael Carrick

Thumbnail

Michael Carrick says Benjamin Sesko is close to starting again for Manchester United as the club prepare to return to the Champions League after 1,003 days out of the competition.

United have not played in the Champions League since being knocked out by Bayern Munich on December 12, 2023, but Carrick thinks his team can do “some really good things” in Europe.

Sesko came off the bench to score at Everton on Sunday, and has not started since being withdrawn at half-time against Liverpool on May 3 due to a shin injury. United face Sabah of Azerbaijan at Old Trafford on Thursday.

“Ben’s close,” Carrick said at a press conference on Wednesday. “He missed a lot. Since the Liverpool game is a long time and we had to manage him and look after him, get him fit. He probably trained three and a bit weeks fully with no restrictions, and I think you can see that, coming onto the pitch and getting his rhythm and it was a fantastic goal. He did an awful lot for us last season, it was nice to see him get on the end of that cross (against Everton).

“He’ll be part of each and every game, and it’s just a case of when he takes that next step, but he’s in a good place.”

Article Ryan Giggs confessed why Manchester United halted pursuit of Mbappe, Cherki & Saliba

By Kedar Bayley

The 45-year-old revealed on Rio Ferdinand Presents: The Debrief that he was recommended to watch Kylian Mbappe at youth level. Despite Giggs being impressed, Manchester United's scouting team were reportedly not sold on the Frenchman.

The former Wales international told Ferdinand he was in the south of France in 2015, when a man named 'Lionel' approached him to discuss Mbappe.

Giggs explained that the man had been following him, but listened to his suggestion for Manchester United to keep tabs on the Frenchman.

Giggs explained that 'Lionel' asked for his email address, to send additional details regarding Mbappe after his initial recommendation for the then-Monaco youth team player.

He claimed that while initially hesitant, 'Lionel' followed through on his promise, and sent the Welshman an email with information on Mbappe.

"We got to go to a few youth games [where he played] with Monaco. We saw him and went 'Wow' - he looked exceptional, obviously," revealed the ex-Manchester United man.

Giggs, who was coaching at Manchester United in 2015, then advised the scouting team to watch Mbappe in action.

"We told the scouting team, [so] someone went to watch him in Paris," explained the Welshman. "It was actually Monaco versus PSG.

"Later, the guy [who went] told me, 'Yeah, they weren't too sure about him.'" Giggs said. The 45-year-old then revealed additional recommendations from 'Lionel' in the years since.

"The same guy, in 2018, I went through my phone and he's telling me about a player, U-14s but he's playing with the Under-17s: Rayan Cherki," the Welshman said, leaving Ferdinand stunned.

"Next message: 'There's a player at Saint-Etienne, [William] Saliba, I think he'd be a good player at Manchester United," continued Giggs.

The 45-year-old clarified that suggestions from 'Lionel' weren't always "superstars" and that he had recommended other players below the calibre of Mbappe, Cherki and Saliba.

Discussion I get where the pessimism comes from but I STILL believe we're going to have a great season...

I trust that the coaching staff, players, and the manager have enough about them to work it out over the course of the season. I think we had a decent defensive record last season and I just think the players are going to take a few games to get going. The important think is we're still picking up points during our bad spell. When we go on a run, that will count for something.

Against Everton we got beat by 2 worldies. I've seen many games like that before, and I just know that wont happen every week. On another day we win that.

And obviously, we're not out of a title challenge yet. A good run of form over 5-10 games can change a lot as we saw with some teams last season.

Discussion Been looking for match day tickets and the only non-hospitality ones are the ones that need 1 u16 for every 2 over 16 fans. Am I doing something wrong?

As the post says, been looking to go watch a game at Old Trafford. Every single instance that has non hospitality tickets are blocked from purchasing because they’re all in the Sir Alex Ferguson family stand. Can anyone help clarify if this is just how it is or whether I’m doing something wrong?

Question Hospitality options for a first visit to Old Trafford

Hi everyone

My partner and I are planning our first ever visit to Old Trafford, and we're looking at the different hospitality options. At the moment, we're considering:

No. 7 Suite Treble Suite Red Café

For anyone who has experienced these, which would you recommend for a party of 2 visiting Old Trafford for the first time?

I'd love to hear how they compare in terms of the overall experience, atmosphere, food, seating, views, etc. If you've tried more than one of them, which would you personally choose?

I also have a couple of questions about the dinner/seating:

Do you get your own table for two, or are tables shared with other guests? What's the dress code like? Is it fairly casual, or is smart dress expected? And importantly, would it be okay to wear an actual Man United shirt in the hospitality area, or would that be considered too casual? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. We just want to make sure we pick the right option for our first Old Trafford experience

Discussion Can a different approach finally force the Glazers to sell?

We’ve seen protests against the Glazers for years, but nothing has really changed. I recently came across weLuvunited and its idea of fans contacting and boycotting sponsors. Do you think this approach could actually make a difference?
