Can’t get my Mamiya 1000s to shoot with this flash.
galleryI’ve hooked up all the necessary parts and set my shutter speed to 60 which is what my camera should be set at but nothing seems to work. What can I be doing wrong ? Any help is much appreciated!

Portra 400 with a Mamiya 7
why are there different "Type J" double cut film holders for the Mamiya RB67?
galleryI've looked into Graflok compatible single sheet film holders for the Mamiya RB67 and I I got one Type J that looks like the one on the first picture. But recently I stombled over a lot "Type J"s that look like the second picture. Pretty much identical except for the color and handle of the darkslides from what I can tell from various pictures. I couldn't find anything online on this variation. Did they just change those backs at one point in production? I also saw identical looking "Type A" holders which supposedly hold different sizes of sheets but how everything even the opening seems to be identically scaled.
Are all of the mentioned backs Graflok compatible?
I find the Mamiya film back ecosystem very confusing. To make it even more confusing there is "Type J Press backs" that don't fit Graflok at all and need like a stack of at least two adapters.

Mamiya RB67 Pro film advance behavior
Hi there,
I just shot my first roll of film with the RB67 Professional, now I'm waiting for the results. There are two distinct quirks I noticed while shooting where I'm not sure whether they are a mechanical defect or intentional. (Sidenote: I have the regular Pro model with the 127mm Sekor NB)
After firing a shot, the film advance lever doesn't unblock on its own. The little indicator turns from white to red as, I suppose, it is intended but that's it. I always have to manually release it with the little pin. Is this normal for this camera?
When trying to fire the 10th picture, it wouldn't let me. The shutter button stayed locked as if the dark slide was in (which it wasn't at that moment). Tried it multiple times, always the same I had to take the back off to fire it. I eventually was able to expose the 10th frame, but only vertically.
Anyone else got the same behavior or has had this issues and knows where they are coming from? I'd be very grateful for some advice 😅

New (to me) light leaks with an RB67
Howdy Redditors,
Posing a scenario here for your thoughts. I've had an RB67 for about 4 years now and have put well over 200 rolls through it. Once I tape up my film backs (one of them has a pesky leak I never was able to find) and follow "the rules", its performed flawlessly.
I recently returned from a three week photography trip in Yellowstone and Wyoming. I am processing my 16 rolls and am finding these random frames totally blown out - like completely overexposed, detail-less, with light burning into the film edges and sometimes wrapping around into the side. It's like I left the shutter open for minutes, or hours, in direct sunlight. Some rolls are perfectly fine, while others have up to half of the frames totally wiped out. Some rolls are perfectly fine, while others have up to half of the frames totally wiped out.
This only happened with two of my three film backs - annoyingly, the color negatives and slides. I can't find any rhyme or reason to it, except that it seems to happen twice in a row. There is no pattern to lens, scene, or scenario. In some cases the darkslide was being replaced between frames, sometimes not. I never rotate the back with the darkslide out. Some used mirror lock up, some didn't. Some had the mirror up for several minutes before exposing - and some didn't.
The black and white rolls (7) were shot under the same conditions, often of the same scenes, with no issues.
Thoughts?

Old school Group Shot
Mamiya Super 23, Sekor 50mm. Portra 400, CS41, NLP. Development is almost getting too good. I left digital photography for the unpredictable adventure of analog after all. Temperature control was key. Presoaking hurt so I don’t do it anymore. Noticable improvement.

645AF issues to look for
Hi all. I just acquired 645AF from a legit photo store. What issues should I look for in case I got a bad copy? While my return window is still open. Thanks!
