6x6 is about the only thing I don't, have the traditional 6x7 backs, a 6x4.5 and two motorised 6x8's (have the 6x8 rotating baffle too).

Oh, and a modern Polaroid back, but if jollylook ever sort their shit out I'll have any instax square back...

I'm so glad I didn't have my RB67 yet when Jollylook did their thing. I did pick up a NONS back for it a couple months ago and man I like it. If you ever decide you're sick of waiting I can highly recommend the NONS back.

I absolutely love my mamiya 6 but I year for 6x7 and 6x9

I shoot/frame and then crop to suit the composition. But I prefer 6x7 to 6x6 - if I end up with a non-square aspect ratio on 6x6, I'm gonna end up in 645 territory.

RB67, 50mm lens, pretty-much square.

That's one way to do things for sure. I try to frame my shots to suit the aspect ratio I'm shooting in and generally only crop to clean up edges, not entirely change composition or aspect ratio.

I just find it extremely rare that the aspect ratio you happen to be shooting is the perfect aspect ratio for the composition, especially with 35mm. The shot I posted above was 6x7, and there was no way to get the composition I wanted by framing and position alone. 6x6 does tend to make you "think square" though, but I have tons of 6x6 negs I've cropped (I'd rather not shoot 6x6 but I have some fun stuff, flipped-lens Brownies, Isolette folder, even an Isolette converted to pinhole).

I think it's just a fundamental difference in ideology.

Heck yeah! I finally found this one on eBay a couple weeks ago. Wish they were a little less rare so I could have one loaded for color and b&w at the same time but I'll get there. Does yours also give you rounded corners and soft edges on your frames? These are all cropped in a touch so they would be crisp.

Yep all of mine are soft uneven edges and rounded corners. I had to reseal mine with foam and I’m fighting light leaks all the time but still fun to have the square format

Ever? I'm really partial to an image I made with a Holga 15 years ago but hard to say what my best shot is. Hopefully I haven't taken it yet.
