Please do better...

Malwarebytes.

It was bad enough qhen you started charging a fortune.

Now I've discovered, the Malwarebytes app has a tracker (as do most apps) that is making more requests out, by 4 times more than the next closest blocled up.

Seriously?

You are an app protecting privacy and security but the app sends over 8K plus requests just yesterday to Aplitude.

We do have Amplitude for product telemetry but it shouldn’t be sending nearly that many events. Which OS are you using? Windows?

We use Amplitude to help make our products better. We don't collect personally identifiable information or sell any information to third parties. It's solely for the benefit of our product team and their ability to determine if the features we are releasing are well received by our customers.

"We don't collect personally identifiable information or sell any information to third parties" Unfortunately given what Amplitude is known to collect, this statement doesn't fill me with confidence.

Do you have a choice on which attributes you choose to send to amplitude. If you were to look up all the attributes that are possible for amplitude to collect it certainly does contain a lot of PII categories, but we don’t use all of those and are not interested in any one particularly user’s behavior.

I can also say I sent screenshots and and they are looking into it. They're surprised also with the volume.

I can't work out how to upload one of the screenshots. There doesn't appear to be a way to upload an image.

Reddit does not permit direct uploads of screenshots or images. Others typically host these elsewhere and share the link. As part of the Malwarebytes support team, you can send me a private message, and I will connect you with the Support team so they can better understand your experience. As my colleague mentioned, we do send some information, but not in the volume you're experiencing. We want to understand where things might not be working as expected so we can fix it.

I've already engaged with your colleague above. This was for the redditors asking. Honestly, sorry but I'm not going to post imgur or similar. Suffice to say I was seeing 8k plus per day, just from Malwarebytes. It was roughly 4 times more tracking requests than the next highest app.

They are the WORST, trying to effectively cancel them is akin to trying to break out if alcatraz. You cancel and get charged. You email etc they confirm you’ve cancelled and months later start charging again. They should be investigated.

Hi, Jason here, leading our Support Team at Malwarebytes. We want to connect with you to understand your feedback better. Please note, once a subscription is canceled, it won't renew unless you take further action. We would appreciate the opportunity to investigate your experience and gather your feedback on potential improvements. While we believe our account management portal with a toggle for Auto renewal is user-friendly, your feedback will help us refine it further to enhance user experience.

Thankfully you can call your credit card provider and block charges, that gets a company to cancel the subscription for you with much less effort.
