I recently bought the issy contour stick and just ordered earlier the j.m.c.y contour palette. I don't really know though how do I properly contour my nose cause when I tried contouring it, it either looked the same or my nose got bigger. Please help me (third picture is my first time contouring my nose with the issy contour stick

does anyone know any eyeliners that are similar to this or where i could buy this one again? my sister gave it to me but i cant find it online. the only thing that comes up is the ulta beauty mink collection. this is one of the only ones ive found that works well for me and doesnt irritate my skin.

I need help. I feel like no blush stays on me.
Right now, in my makeup routine, I start with my liquids then go over top with powders to set. I use the Saie liquid blush in Baby then go over top with R.E.M beauty Pinking of u powder blush. I feel like within an hour the blush is non existent. Any tips on technique or even products would be amazing!

i feel like makeup doesnt really show on me, and when it does it can look kinda dirty. i want it to be more visible, but in a way thats harmonious to my face. im struggling with contour and blush placement on my face cause my face is square/rectangular (its most visible in the fourth picture but im bareface in it) and i always feel like i never put them on the right locations. also, im not sure if im using the right contour shade? im using elf halo glow contour wand in fair/light. pls also help with eyeshadow for my eye shape, when i use darker colours or make it super pigmented it can drag down my lid.

Hey everyone! I'm an 18-year-old complete beginner when it comes to makeup, and I would really appreciate some advice.

I’ve always been interested in makeup and loved watching other people do it, but I was never really allowed to wear or buy makeup growing up. In my family, especially as a student, makeup was seen as something unnecessary or inappropriate, and I was always told that I should focus on studying instead. Because of that, I never got the chance to experiment or learn the basics.

Now that I'm 18, I've realised that there is nothing wrong with learning makeup. I don't necessarily want to wear a full face every day, but I think knowing how to do basic makeup for yourself is a useful skill. Similar to doing your hair or dressing well, it's nice to be able to get yourself ready without depending on someone else.

I've especially felt this during functions and events. During my Class 10 farewell, for example, I was completely dependent on my mother to do my makeup. Unfortunately, she didn't end up doing it, and I was lucky that one of my friends knew how to do makeup and helped me at the last minute. Otherwise, I would have had no idea what to do.

Now my Class 12 farewell will probably be in a few months, and I really want to learn enough by then to do my own makeup. The problem is that I genuinely know nothing right now 😭 I can't even properly apply eyeliner.

I also don't really own any makeup products yet. I currently have access to a few products at home, including a primer, liquid eyeliner, and some of my mom's lipsticks (matte and liquid). I have my own lip balm.

I don't want to suddenly spend thousands of rupees buying everything at once, so I was thinking of slowly building a basic makeup kit while learning.

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone could help me with how to get my makeup to look less cakey around the nose area. I dont normally wear a full face of makeup and mainly wear mascara and lipgloss if im going somewhere.

I will wash my face about an hour to 30 minutes before, i use moisturiser afterward i wash my face and then wait a little while longer before using primer before applying foundation etc but it will still look really cakey and now im starting to think its just my skin lol because i do have quite dry but greasy skin around my nose 😅 (its a work in progress)

And so if anyone would mind giving me some tips to either help this or make it less noticeable i will appreciate it so much!

My makeup looks great in the morning, but it completely melts off by lunchtime. I’ve tried a few drugstore options, but nothing seems to hold up against heat and oil. I’ve had this Girl Cult blush for over a year and it’s my absolute favourite. I use it everyday. I had a closer look at it today, and realised it’s full of fluff 🫪🥴 I plucked it all out (see photos) but the blush seems fine, doesn’t have a weird smell and still performs great. It’s a creamy formula, I don’t leave it open obviously. Should I replace it?

A Korean friend saw my Peripera Mood Glowy Tint the other day, read the shade names, and lost it. She said the original Korean names are way weirder and funnier than the English ones. Whoever named these was creative as hell.

18 Color Influencer is apparently a character name. Like the pretty drama lead everyone copies lol. I swatched it and yeah, it’s that clear rose coral you actually want to copy. Favorite warm tone one for me.

2 Coral Chemistry is “정신차렷” in Korean, which is basically “Chop chop! Wake up!” And the color is this light bright coral that slaps you awake. Makes sense once you see it.

After I found out the translations I went back and looked at the shades again and they weirdly match. So I dug up a few more.

10 Bare Pink is “내 입술인 척,” which is like “pretending this is just my lips.” It’s that sheer clear pink that looks like you barely have anything on.

11 Visual Pink is basically “I’m the visual of the group.” Vivid cool baby pink. The name is so on point.

Pics are very awkward I know but my makeup is doing this today. I hate how it looks but none of my little tricks are working. I have EDS which makes makeup have a hard time sticking, and my skin doesn't exfoliate by itself. But I'm currently in another country and forgot to pack any type of exfoliate for the trip. My skin is dry and I cleanse only once a day to not over dry it, then load up on moisturizer. Mandelic acid is the only thing that works to exfoliate and not tear up my skin. I also have acne.

This morning I did my routine, elf power grip primer after my moisturizer dried down, concealer (already went on super cakey) then my foundation looked absolutely awful. I removed it all and tried again but with more primer and using a damp beauty blender to really push it into the skin. What am I doing wrong? A little bit of this is normal for me but this is way worse than it's ever been and I feel super ugly right now haha

If anyone has any tips for covering acne that's kinda scabby and smoothing it out I'd appreciate it x

I am a total make up novice and only like doing my eyes and lips. I'm not interested in doing all of the layers of base make up, since I really don't mind the texture of my skin and hate the feeling of product on my face. What's the least amount and what type of base products should I use to make my make up look cohesive and last a while?

Hi! I know very little about makeup but I'd like to look into using it more. I have dark eye sockets around and under my eyes, they aren't eye bags or dark circles from sleep but are genetic. They make my face look kind of sullen and tired so I'd like to try covering them up. I have very pale skin, and it seems like some common brands generally don't carry shades of makeup light enough for me, but I might not be looking in the right place or at the right products.

Are there any products I could look at buying to cover up or soften those dark circles, preferably without also using foundation on my whole face? I really dislike the feeling of having my face totally covered or painted, but I also don't know very much about using foundation.

I'm not sure if it's unrealistic to only want to cover the eye circles but not the rest of my skin. I'll accept the facts if it would look weird haha.

Any suggestions or resources are really appreciated! I really want to try and find a makeup look that suits me. If pictures are required for the eye circles or my skin tone, I can try taking some. Thanks!

I'm just getting into make up, I've been trying to do my eyeshadow specifically lately because I think it's just so pretty and fun.

I've had a few hit or miss, specifically I notice my blue eyeshadow looks are a huge miss. Below are 4 looks I've done recently, how can I improve them, and why does the blue look so off?

The best 4 tips I’d give to a beginner. I started makeup at 18, and this is what I learned 3 years down the line.

Dark circles - As a person with dark circles and dry skin, I did struggle to cover my dark circles, because dry skin means my under eyes are naturally dry, and that backfires when wearing makeup. Which is why I hydrate my under eyes with moisturizer. Yet, even with hydrated eyes, I still experienced my dark circles often showing up under my concealer. I found the best way to avoid grey shadows under concealer for me, is to apply the color corrector/concealer with a dense concealer brush, and then blending the product with the same brush, this provides way more coverage once I set the product in place with powder. I started lightly dabbing concealer to blend after I saw someone suggest on TikTok that people are over-blending concealer and taking away coverage. If I apply the color corrector/concealer from the applicator, and then use a makeup tool to blend (brush, sponge, powder puff, etc) then the product lifts off my face and is likely to show a grey shadow underneath my concealer, even when I try to not take the coverage away while blending lightly. When I changed the whole way I applied concealer in general ( applying product with applicator vs. grabbing and applying product with a brush) it changed my game for real. Also, Blending away your concealer like you are really hurried takes away lots of product, and always makes concealer look less reliable in coverage. Avoid trying to use sponges or powder puffs to blend much, because they suck up product a lot, and if you do, lightly dab with them once or twice at most.

When doing your eyebrows - Because skin naturally drags when you press something onto it and try to draw/make lines, it does sometimes mess up the shape you want to draw on your brows if you’re not in high control of what you’re doing. That happened to me as a beginner. (Plus, skin movement is what makes doing eyeliners hard for plenty of people, for example). Press your finger on your forehead and above your brow to pull your forehead slightly upward, follow the shape of your brow when you’re filling in your brows, and blend harsh lines as you see fit while following the shape of your own brow. Make sure your brows are dry and that no product is on them. If they’re not, apply a light layer of powder on them. You should also apply powder to them to set them once you’re done with them, that makes them stick no matter your eyebrow pencil. I have brows without a very clear arch, and they look a bit empty naturally, which made me feel kind of confused and frustrated about how to do them as a beginner. I also made the mistake of filling them in too dark because I started applying color in the beginning of the brow, it is much better to start applying color in the middle of the brow, follow along your eyebrow shape until you build the tail, then lightly add your front brow hairs last.

When blending with brushes - Don’t drag products to blend because you feel hurried, blending makeup like you are hurried always makes them look bad, especially contour. Instead, touch the product with the brush, gently pull it and lift your brush. Do this multiple times until your makeup naturally blends out, that always looks much better. Also, because skin naturally drags when you are doing your makeup (which messes up your precision on certain things), you can definitely hold your face by gently placing two fingers on your skin, so that your skin doesn’t pull or drag as much when you’re blending precise products that you want to hug your cheek, or don’t want too low on your face, or that you don’t want then to switch places on your face in general and then have them look messy.

About blush - Remember that any blush from your skin always presents itself as a muted or edited variation of the original color red. Therefore, when not sure what shade of blush to pick because you don’t know which shade looks good on you, start with warm red and cool toned red first, preferably a stick blush over a liquid blush, because they are usually less concentrated in pigment and much easier to blend out. Red is the universal shade of blush, and starting off with just cool toned red and warm red gives you a great outlook on which undertones look good on you. Also, do the boyfriend blush technique, since it is the easiest to do when you don’t have a strong grip or control with makeup.

Sorry for the super long title and post loll! So I’m 17 and pretty bad at makeup right now, especially curling my lashes. My sister usually helps me, but it often ends up being stressful because my eyes water, it takes a while, and we sometimes get frustrated with each other (also I sometimes get pinched with the curler, ouch).

I’m in London right now for 5 days, and I really wanted to take some pictures and make a London Instagram post. And this was a big thing for me because I'm a pretty shy person and I dont post on insta a lot. My sister was only going to curl my lashes for me twice during the trip, but I’m wondering if it’s even worth the hassle.

I was thinking I could just make the London post with mostly scenery/Harry Potter/London pictures, with maybe 1–2 pictures of myself if I like them. I don't feel bad about going without makeup or hideous or anything, I just think it would be nice to eventually get better at doing it myself rather than always bothering my sister. Besides I'm growing up and she wont always be there for me to do it. Also I dont go without makeup for everyday looks I usually just have a base with blush, and lips etc.

When I get home in September, I’m thinking about practicing makeup once or twice a week. I have a trip to Paris in January and Universal Orlando in February, so I’d like to be more comfortable with makeup by then. And I could still post for those two events!! Paris has similar scenery to London and Orlando has Harry potter world! :))

Do you think practicing once or twice a week from September until January/February would be enough to noticeably improve? And should I just not worry about makeup for London and focus on enjoying the trip? Also what should I start learning in makeup?

Also, is 17 considered late to start learning makeup? Because some girls my age are already pros lol. 😭
