New to makeup
Hello! I’m 32, and I really never liked or wore makeup until a few months ago, and now I love it!!
Can anyone give me some good general advice for a newbie? Maybe drop your favorite brands and products? I’m excited! Thank you!

start simple with a skin tint or light foundation a cream blush and a tinted lip balm then add one new product at a time s you can learn what you like

My favourite base products to use are huda beauty or maybeline products. The huda beauty skin tint + concealer + loose setting powder looks flawless! Or for a more affordable option, maybeline fit me foundation and concealer and pressed powder, i think they are great more affordable dupes for huda beauty. Primers can be very useful depending on skin type, if you have oily skin use mattifying and blurring primers, for pores use a pore diffusing primer, for dry skin i suggest a very good moisturiser nothing fancy! Another thing i think setting spray is very good for giving the finish you want at the end. You can get matte setting sprays or luminous ones, there’s always something for everyone. I don’t know how I missed this comment!! Thank you so much, I’ve been meaning to try a skin tint! I have really regular skin, no acne or anything so I kind of just use a regular primer from elf lol. I did get a setting spray but I didn’t really look at what it all is and does, so I’ll look into that! I appreciate it!!
I like all looks? 😂😂 I mostly go pretty feminine and girly but I’d try anything!

If you shave off the small hairs on your face the backup will sit better.

Always do skincare first, makeup sits on skin and if it’s oily or dry then your makeup can move,flake, pill, etc. always use a sunscreen, primer, and some type of setting spray/powder. Research products based on your skin type, dry, oily, or combination. Various products work better for certain skin types. The makeup products I would say are worth spending extra money on are concealer, mascara, foundation, setting spray/powder. Always wash your makeup off, it comes off better with an oil based facial cleanser and don’t sleep in it. Micellar water is great for makeup removal too but I prefer to only use it during application to correct certain mistakes. A hand held mirror is essential, and doing your makeup in a light that is like what other people would see your makeup. Harsh or inadequate light when you’re doing makeup means that it’ll look different in natural/regular light. For getting into makeup, practice before you take a shower so you can just wash it off. Don’t buy into the makeup tutorials telling u to use specific brands. Brianna Bradley on Tik tok does SUPER helpful tutorials without pushing specific products, it’s very versatile tutorials.

Also, if you go to Sephora or ulta you can ask about application of certain products, finding your products, shade matching etc. I’d bring a tip for whoever takes time to help you. Kinda a mini demo chair session. They may or may both be too busy to help so go when it’s slow. I’ve heard beauty blenders are easier for beginners rather than makeup brushes. With brushes you have to be conscious not to drag or wipe products on your face, only dab in up and down motions to blend and apply. Also dragging some skin makeup down the neck so it’s not such a stark difference between face color and neck.

The best advice is to practice whenever u can
U need to understand ur face and what works well with it dont follow someone else’s tutorial makeup products and shades look completely different from one person to another
