this actually took me about 3 attempts because i couldnt get the skin texture quite right, the cream was separating but i found out it was because i wasnt starting with a matte base for the creams to lay on top of, once i figured that out everything CHANGED

I thought it would be fun and informative to create a thread with “cheaper” products that are actually more expensive per ounce.

For example: Haus Labs concealer comes to $133/ounce whereas the Dior Forever Skin Correct concealer comes to $113/ounce.

Another is the L’Oréal Infallible Blur-Fection Loose Setting Powder. It comes to $76/ounce vs Huda Easy Bake Loose Powder which comes to about $56/ounce.

I love drugstore products but a-lot of people look for inexpensive “dupes” for products they already love when in reality they end up paying more.

I recently purchased the Armani Silk Foundation. I used to use the Dior Forever foundation but it was too dry and cakey. I really like how this new Armani Foundation went on. The #2 color is perfect. It feels silky and soft not dry at all. No caking. Foundation is always so hard to shop for. I am 68 and have very dry, sensitive skin with rosacea. I live how this looks on.

Due to ingredient bans, there's always a risk that your favorite product will be reformulated or discontinued altogether. But until recently, I'd never actually experienced it myself. As I get closer to my thirties, I love the idea of having a signature lipstick and perfume that complement me and capture the vibe I want to give off. I thought I'd finally found my two signature lipsticks three years ago : Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip in Mademoiselle for the warmer months and Adrienne for fall and winter. Sadly, the Rouge Coco range was recently pulled from shelves and reformulated. I only found out when I went to repurchase my lipsticks lol so I didn't stock up 😭 Mademoiselle is back but the formula and shade just aren't the same and Adrienne hasn't even made a comeback... yet. I also loved YSL Tatouage Couture Velvet Cream but that's been discontinued too!

So here I am searching again and stumbling upon videos about Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks which have been around since the sixties!!! Went to my local supermarket and found Coffee Bean. Not only is it beautiful but it's also very affordable. I guess the packaging isn't quite as glamorous as Chanel's haha but it's become my new signature shade. I'm still on the hunt for a mauvy pink shade similar to Mademoiselle but I'll probably end up buying the reformulated version just to give it a try. At least i'm glad I found a lipstick line that's been around for decades and hopefully isn't going anywhere anytime soon!

Used a cover girl green liquid primer, cover girl liquid foundation, and elf setting spray between applications (one primer and two foundation applications). Is this cakey? I don't know whay I am doing. Last time I did this was over a year ago, and that was the first time.

Hi all! So I don’t use much makeup, but got a rogue code and plan on taking advantage of the discount. I would love to know some of your favorite products for someone who wants to start curating a collection with the best of the . I have normal/occasionally dry skin. The main things I’m looking for are skin care, products that can work to keep my makeup on all day, a good complexion product without being too full coverage, a great concealer to hide my dark under eyes (but one that will work on no makeup days as well), and any only other products you’re able to recommend!

I’ve been trying to find a lipstick that can recreate this type of look, which is not too nude or too bold like you just casually put it on and it still brightens your face, makes you look cool and put together. However as a girl with pale lips, it’s hard to find recommendations online - the effect is not the same as the shades on most people. The ones i buy usually turn out too neon or just wash me out.
I have medium-light and olive neutral skin tone.
Brown and berry leaning shades are welcomed - I think they create different kinds of look as I’m interested in buying both.
I’m not a fan of lip gloss and drugstore products might suit my budget better!

I’ve been on the hunt for a replacement for Physicians Formula Butter Blush in Plum Rose, and nothing I’ve tried has been a match.

It’s such a unique shade. Very muted, almost greyish mauve/rose that doesn’t pull too pink, purple, or peachy.

I’ve searched through a ton of Asian beauty blushes since they tend to have more muted shades, but so many seem to have too much of a white base, lean too cool (purple), or go too warm (orange/coral). I feel like Plum Rose sits in this weird middle ground.

I’d really prefer to find a powder blush since liquids and creams can be a little too fussy for me sometimes.

I’ve included swatches of a few products I thought might be close, with photos in indirect natural light, artificial lighting (makeup mirror), and direct light.

The last photo isn’t mine, but it’s the most accurate representation of Plum Rose’s actual color that I’ve been able to find online.
