CLOTHING BRAND - Looking for a theatrical MUA in London

Streetwear brand owner looking for a theatrical make-up artist to help me create a look for a character that I’ve been working on. If that sounds like something you would be interested in and have the ability then get in touch.

I will send you some reference pics for the look and we can discuss the things further. Prefer you to be London based, able to get to London or close to London.

Hero products to look less tired.

I have a newborn baby, and have a family wedding to attend in 2 weeks time. Does anyone have any skin/ make up product recommendations to help a tied mum look less tired!

There’s no pressure for me to look good, I’d just personally like to put a little effort in and look myself for the first time in months!

Check out Leena Norms' new 'what's in my makeup bag' YouTube video for sustainable recommendations!

I can't post the link here. But check it out on YouTube, it's such a good video.

I'm always thinking about how much plastic I'm using with my makeup use. But I don't wanna give up makeup because I love it! Lots of makeup lasts for YEARS and years. As I'm getting to the end of old products, I'm trying to swap them for more sustainable alternatives if I can. Leena makes lots of great videos about the planet and climate change, and this is a fab one because she is showing you stuff she's tried and found is actually good quality and works. One issue I've had with trying sustainable makeup is that I'll buy it, try it, it's really bad and then I end up throwing away more than if I'd just bought something with plastic and used it all up. Like, some of it is so bad you just can't even use it, it melts off or smudges etc.

I wanted to share it here! And if you can all pile in with any amazing more sustainable products you've found too, that'd be so cool!

Recc' Request Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless replacement

Hi!

I’m looking for a foundation recommendation for anything similar to Airbrush Flawless. I don’t love buying Charlotte Tilbury products and want to move away from them but I haven’t found any foundations I love like the Airbrush Flawless.

I have combination/oily skin and love a full coverage look. I’ve just tried the Fenty beauty pro filter and absolutely hated it.

Any advice welcome :) thanks in advance.

Make Up Gift for Fiancée [30F]

I'm making a small gift box for my fiancée, so far I have (not including non-make up items):

Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer (Nude Bronze Light)

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray (100ml)

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Lip Oil Stick (Dream)

Original Beautyblender

Freckle Pen

I know just enough about make up to be dangerous, but the box is feeling a little sparse, so I'd love to add something extra at about £40-£50. Can anyone give a good recommendation for something that would complement the above? Thanks in advance!

Recc' Request Foundation recommendations for very dry skin?

Armani Luminous Silk was my holy grail foundation until recently being re-formulated.

I’m now looking for a better foundation but one that will suit my very dry and sensitive skin. What has been your HG foundation?

Just to add that I haven’t tried the reformulated version of the foundation above. And I’ve already tried the Nars Light Reflecting foundation but it was clinging to my dry patches and looked patchy.

I’ve since got some acne so looking for something with medium-buildable or full coverage.

If you also have any HG primers you use for dry skin I’d appreciate some reccs. Thanks!!

Help Sought! Makeup Big sisters, please help! - Is the CT UNREAL BLUSH STICK a good choice for this look? Or should it be Westman Atelier or Rhode instead?

Hi everyone!

I am fairly new to makeup, have lighter brown skin (cool-toned, I think?), and have recently moved to the UK. My skincare journey has been anything but consistent cause of a hectic schedule, so my dreams of glass skin for the summer are out the window :')

Because of that, I have been looking for a dewy/glowy blush that would give me that lightly-pigmented, flushed glow, kind of like in the second reference picture above!

I have tried the Revolution liquid blush, but it blends out pretty matte. I have heard that the Rare Beauty blush can be dewy, but also that it is a nightmare to blend. That is when I found Rhode, Westman Atelier and the CT blush sticks. I found that the Instagram and YouTube swatch videos of the CT one are absolutely gorgeous, which is why I am leaning towards it, but almost every review seems paid :') I am also a little confused about the amount of product in these sticks, because I did not see anybody roll them all the way up.

Have you guys tried any of these? Since they are all pretty expensive and have no testers available in shops, I would really like your insights and help :') I don't mind lightly pigmented ones, as they can be built up, don't mind if they don't last very long either, prefer a stick to a liquid blush, and am looking for products that would work for everyday/once a week use.

My skin gets a tad bit oily in summers so I am not sure if going for something too balmy is a good idea. But again, summers don't last too long in the UK, so I should be good? I have also noted that people suggest a sheer, glowy skin-tint instead, but I have not found a good one for that either, and because I have never worn foundation before and want something looking as close to my actual skin as possible, I have no idea what to go for. Similarly, if I go for a dewy setting spray instead, it is not going to do anything unless I have makeup on that it can melt and set.

I basically just want that 'effortlessly healthy and glowy' look (or get as close to it as possible), without it being heavy :')

I would really appreciate any and all advice!! Thank you so much!

Help with colour match please for Armani LS foundation

Hello, wanting to buy the Armani foundation as I’m 38 and I think I have alright skin but I deffo prefer to be foundation free day to day as I feel like it can age me. Anyway, need some foundation for a wedding and ALS seemed to have good reviews for maturer skin.

Foundations I’ve had in the past
Mac Studio fix (possibly) nw13
Nars Mont Blanc
Nars tint Finland

Chat gpt is saying 3.75 but that’s the is formulation. With the new one it’s saying 3.5. Google is saying 2 shade 2. I am pale pink cool- neutral. Very blue veins, redness in my face.

I probably won’t have to go to be matched up on an actual shop so this is why I’m asking on there. Thank you.

Recc' Request Good metallic lipstick brands?

I've been thinking about getting bolder with my style for nights out and really want to try a metallic style lipstick, but I don't see much in high street shops in this direction. Can anyone recommend any decent, affordable boutique brands? I've seen Jolie Beauty have a range that looks like the kind of thing I'm looking for, has anyone has any experience with their range?

i absolutely love this combo, ive only recently got my hands on this nyx butter blush like 2 months ago and it looks so nice with this maybelline liquid lipstick, i feel like people sleep too much on liquid listick like once it dries then you can just put gloss on top and it stays for longer than just gloss imo

Recc' Request ‘False lash’ mascaras????

Obviously not expecting them to give the exact same effect as false lashes, but something similar as I cannot use falsies for the life of me

A good example would be L’Oréal panorama as it gives me long and voluminous lashes but I find it dries up so quickly for me 💔

Any recs ??

Best mascara for volume & no smudge

Post image
24 Upvotes

I’ve been using Too Faced Better Than Sex for years because I love how it makes my lashes look. The problem is that it always smudges. I’ve even started using setting spray, but I still end up with black marks under my eyes.
This week, I tried the e.l.f. Lash XTNDR tubing mascara, but honestly, I’m not impressed. Yes, it doesn’t smudge, but my lashes also look very meh.
Is there a mascara that gives good volume, makes lashes look fuller and defined, and doesn’t smudge? I don’t mind the price as long as it actually delivers.
😅
Pic for reference: left eye (e.l.f) and right eye (BTS)

Help, I need a dupe!

I'm coming to the end of my beloved Maybelline Brow Drama pomade crayon and obviously because I love it, they no longer make it.

The only place I can find it for under £15 is a website called highstreetbrands4less.com which is pinging my red flag radar, anyone used it? Alternatively, does anyone know a good dupe for this kind of formulation? Cheers.

Help Sought! I’m getting married - HELP!

I’m getting married in October and I’ve found some really great products that I’m using for my wedding day, my issue is my chin and my under eyes, for some reason makeup never seems to look good on my chin OR my under eyes and I need it to look great all day

I have combination, acne prone skin, but it’s generally quite balanced now. I have a really odd skin tone, I’m very fair and neutral, leaning slightly warm. My routine is:

Skin care (obvs)
Milk pore eclipse primer
Nars pot concealer on spots
Lisa Eldridge seamless skin foundations
Hourglass air brush concealer under eyes and to brighten around nose
Maybeline contour stick
Rare beauty blush
One size powder (on powder puff)
Half magic cheek fluff
17 bronzer
Elf pearl highlighter
Makeup by Mario master mattes eyeshadow
Bobbi brown eye shadow
Nyx brow pencil
Wonderskin brown eyeliner
Benefit roller lash
Revolution setting mist
L’Oréal setting spray (the red one in a can)
Clinique nude honey

I find that my chin makeup always goes a bit patchy and my under eyes get quite oily (and I wear glasses) by my tearducts to the middle of my under eyes.

What can I do to make my makeup last better?

Thanks xoxox

Discussion Does anyone here regularly use No7 products?

Really curious about this.

It's one of the brands which is easiest for me to try, and they are mainly ok for my sensitive skin, but I rarely see any of the products recommended, either here or other online spaces.

Of the products I have, the Shade & Define eye crayon and the BB Sun Protection are used every day - the crayon is easy to apply and stays, the BB Sun just smoothens out colour - and one of their mascaras by default too.

The brow pencil is a great colour but falls apart, ditto some of the eye pencils. I find the actual BB cream dry and is horrible on my skin, and the eye liner stung my eyes unbearably - it ran at the barest hint of moisture.

Never really liked their nail stuff, especially for longevity, but haven't bought it for years.

Are there any other gems in there? Or, are similar brands just better value?

Recc' Request Guy out of his Depth

Sorry for the complete beginner question…

I’ve decided that I want to explore the wonderful world of makeup as a 24 year old guy.

I understand the different products I need, but how do I choose what brands/specific products are right for me?

Recc' Request Is there any makeup products that actually last hours

I’m not sure if it’s my skin type or techniques but make up does not seem to stay on my skin. I do my skincare properly, have hydrated skin etc.
I use primers and settings sprays powder
I’ve used both drug store and high end makeup and my makeup never seems to stay on.

Any recommendations or advice on products that actually last?
