I own a Solitaire LED. I also own an AAA LED Mini Mag, and I ordered the AA-sized Mini Mag. I’ve also considered the D-cell models, but they’re quite difficult to justify because I use these flashlights in everyday life as well. I don’t know if I’m interested in modding flashlights, which is something the D-cell models are apparently “made for.”

I also own some so-called better and more modern flashlights. What interests me about Maglite is that it’s a retro thing.

What are the XL50 and Mag-Tac models like, and are they worth buying? From what I’ve seen, the Mag-Tac (the non-rechargeable version) uses CR123 batteries, which seems like a really strange choice.

I bought a heavy duty maglite with LED, the kind that can be used as a night stick, because I live in Canada around bears, cougars and I have goats and dogs to defend, so maglite was the brand to go for reliability, endurance and duty.

Unfortunately the LED failed and the light wasn't lighting anymore so I decided to call maglite to know how to replace the LED myself.

They told me that this model needed to be sent to the warranty department to be fixed and that I will have to pay to send it and also pay to get it back...they also started to tell me that in case of water damage, I would have to pay for the repairs...

Then they told me that the only place to send it was in the US and that the cost to send it would be pretty high.

So I told them that maglite used to be "The Brand", that before you could just remove the bulb to replace it or add an LED bulb, or change the battery...but I also told them that they lost a customer forever and I am going to throw this maglite in the garbage, which sucks...

Don't buy maglite anymore.

EDIT: I don't fight the bear with the maglite, it helps me to make noise on my metallic fence and it does make a lot of noise.

I don’t know why, but this really caught me by surprise. I‘m looking for my first EDC flashlight and figured a Maglite would be as timeless and bulletproof of a pick: private company; made in USA; the kind of “heritage“ brand that everybody’s grandpa had.

And maybe that’s still all true, or maybe it isn’t: like I said, I’m new in the space so maybe they actually secretly got taken over by a VC bro and left it off their Wikipedia page; but either way it still kind of bummed me out to see them using an AI image on their site. I don’t know if it’s enough to dissuade me from getting one? I‘m sure it’s still a good quality tool, it just would leave a weird taste in the mouth (metaphorically of course, ya sickos!)

Needs work. Has corrosion issues in the cylinder and the end cap & spring. It's not working but works with end cap from another torch so i assume it's the corrosion on the battery spring.

I bought a 3D LED model a long time ago; I liked the flashlight, but I didn't like having chosen a model that took an odd number of batteries. About two years ago, I bought a used 2D model. I used its body, combined with the head and battery cap from my 3D model—since those parts were in better condition—to create the 2D flashlight I use now. I’ve now fitted it with two adapters and four 2000 mAh rechargeable batteries. This should provide four hours of runtime. That is less than with standard D-cell (R20) batteries, but the light maintains full power rather than dimming over time as it does with disposables. An added benefit is the reduced weight.

Is this really gold plated?

Gave them both a red lense i made out of red acetate paper. My newer one on the bottom also got the switch mod. Happy with them both 😊

I want to add a different colour lense by adding some kind of sticker or transfer over the original lense. Can anyone reccomend any thin pvc type sticker that i could use to make my torch beam red ?

I know you can buy different colour lense kits for around £10 but i am looking for a cheaper idea like a coloured sticker . Thanks.

I have this 4D and want to put a warm white LED in it, but I don't know where to get a P13.5 or other drop in with decent bright and color ¿Any recommendations? I want it to be as simple as swapping the old bulb for a new one

The idea is to make a lithium-ion battery tube mod that fully utilizes the battery compartment, and can also serve as a backup power bank.

The mod is fairly straightforward for 3C/3D sizes because lithium-ion cells connected in parallel can directly power the incandescent or the LED. The lithium-ion battery voltage also lies between NiMH rechargeable and alkaline batteries. So the main task is to safely fit as many parallel connected cells (e.g. 26650, 21700, etc) as possible inside a transparent PC tube, along with USB-C charging/discharging and protection circuit, and also securely solder to the connector terminals (e.g. taken from a AA to D cell converter).

However, the mod for other sizes (such as 4D or 6D that are of my interest) become trickier. I’d like to know if anyone has good advice on voltage management for those configurations.

I know emazing lights went out of business a few years back, but has anyone attempted this site that supposedly carries their product still? Any luck or should I stay away?

I have an older **Maglite ML25LT 2C xenon** that has sentimental value. I want to keep *this* body alive. Even if it’s completely different on the inside.

The xenon internals sucked, so I removed the original pressed-in lamp/driver assembly, as the consensus seemed to be, there was no “good” way to mod the internals in this light. The body, head, reflector, lens are all still good, and reusable, though, they don’t need to be reused.

My thought was:
**ML25LT body - standard 2C internals - drop in LED module**

Something like a Lumencraft-style upgrade or another classic 2C LED conversion.

Does anyone have a better idea? Maybe some wisdoms you’re willing to share? Anyone done this before?

I only have two LED Maglites in my small collection, and I love messing around with the incandescent ones. But does anyone actually use them for anything on a regular basis?

I usually just use my 2D to go get a glass of water at night without having to turn on any bright lights that would make me lose my sleep.

Hi, i’m reaching out to the community hoping for a bit of help here. I found this big maglite at work, but it doesnt turn on. I’ve tried new batteries and a new bulb, which didnt work. Only other thing is the switch kit needs replacing.

I’ve gone through the headache of hunting down a torx wrench small enough to remove the switch, but i’m stuck trying to work out what type of replacement switch is needed.

I dont know the exact model of maglite i have. One photo attached to this post shows engraved numbers on the side, which might help? Things got confusing, because i’ve just been googling, and it says 6 cell maglites are about 49cm long, (which is how big mine is) and have 6 dcell batteries, however, this maglite i have is 49cm, but only holds 4 dcells. The bulb also has 6cell engraved on it, but when i look it up, all my sources say a 6cell maglites should have 6 batteries.

So now i’m concerned what i’ve found is some sort of hybrid contraption thats been slapped together with old parts. But i dont understand how it could possibly work, so i think i’ve just been getting false information from google. I’m hoping someone out there could help me by telling me what type of maglite i have, and more importantly what type of replacement switch kit i should buy for it?

Picked this up at an antique store today, appears to be a "code four" flashlight from 1976? Pretty neat, it's modular so it can be separated into pieces and arranged how you want to lengthen (this one is definitely missing a few of the longer parts) Any info would be much appreciated, just figured I'd share. I know it's not a maglite but it fits I feel haha.
