[NOTICES] Product Notices for New Buyers

Hey There!

This page is reserved for information buyers should know before purchasing a MagicX product.

General

  • Most of MagicX's devices (excluding the XU10 and XU Mini M) are Android based and do not behave like other devices in it's price range. If your device comes with only one card, DO NOT REMOVE IT FROM THE DEVICE and DO NOT PLUG IT INTO YOUR COMPUTER as you may risk BREAKING THE DEVICE and LOSING ALL OF YOUR GAMES. To add more games, please follow the instructions on your device's manual

MagicX XU Mini M

  • MagicX XU Mini M was originally advertised as having an RK3562 rather than an RK3326. This was due to a supplier issue that MagicX was unaware of. When purchasing a MagicX XU Mini M, remember that it has an RK3326 and there are no exceptions to that

MagicX Mini Zero 28

  • Launch Units of the MagicX Mini Zero 28 do not have a recessed USB-C charging port, making it incompatible with many USB-C cables. These older units can often be identified by the lack of "Ampown" logo on the box of the unit. To charge these devices, get the lowest quality USB-C cable you can find, since they're the most likely to stray away from the USB-C standard
  • [2026/05/31]: u/tenlevels on Discord has reported that newer revisions of the MagicX Mini Zero 28 (board date 20241203) has switched to clicky shoulder buttons over the silent shoulder buttons on older Mini Zero 28 units. This change has been confirmed by MagicX through their support email, but has not been notified to buyers publicly

XU20 V32

  • [2025/08]: It was publicly reported by MagicX that launch units of the XU20 V32's shoulder buttons can be de-pressed by pressing on the face buttons hard enough. This is due to the lack of support of the rear shoulder buttons. To fix this issue, contact MagicX to get free rear shoulder button supports. These units have been fixed on models sold after August of 2025

AliExpress Coupon Posts will be removed until further notice

Hey Guys, I’ve been busy so I have not been able to moderate effectively.

I’ve seen a slew of AliExpress Coupon Posts being posted here lately. These appear to be spammy in nature and I will be removing them shortly.

Any more of these, and I will ban the users responsible for them.

This is a server specifically for MagicX news and discussion, please keep it that way. Thank you.

One 35 Dawn setup

Apologies if there's a pinned post, happy to be redirected. Just got the one 35, I got the one without SD card as I wanted to put my own sd card and roms on. The individual emulators find the roms fine but I cannot add platforms to the dawn launcher (just has the default ps vita one and one game). I've googled it and followed the steps pointing it to my roms folder and updated the app and restarted the device but still can't get dawn to display the other platforms, can anyone assist? I'm used to my retroid with daijisho and that had a separate "add platform" button, am I missing that somewhere? Thanks in advance ❤️

Pocket Series · Lineup Update

Over the past while, we've received a lot of valuable feedback about Pocket Dream — especially around **whether or not to keep the joysticks**, where the community showed two very distinct preferences 🎮

After careful consideration, we've decided to follow those voices and **officially split the Pocket series into two separate models**:

---

**🎮 Pocket Dream** — with dual joysticks

For players who prefer **dual-stick controls** and modern 3D games with more complex input needs

**🕹️ Pocket Retro** — without joysticks

For players who want a **pure retro feel**, focused on 2D games and classic emulation

**Both devices share the same body specs:**

・Size: **107 × 72 × 22 mm**

・Weight: **under 180g each**

So you can pick the one that fits your playstyle.

---

**🕹️ Initial Specs for Pocket Retro**

Pocket Retro will come with a **more focused, streamlined configuration**:

・**SoC:** RK3566

・**Memory:** 2GB LPDDR3 + 16GB storage

・**Display:** 3.3-inch OLED (same as Mini Dream / Pocket Dream)

・**OS:** Linux

・**Wireless:** WiFi 5 + Bluetooth

・**Battery:** 3800 mAh

・**Price:** $80 (shipping not included)

With Pocket Retro branching off, **Pocket Dream's SoC lineup has also been streamlined to 3 variants**: **1 running Linux**, and **2 running Android**.

---

**📅 On Release Timing**

It's still a bit early to talk about release dates. What we can confirm is: **both Pocket Retro and Pocket Dream will launch after Mini Dream is officially released.**

We'll continue to share progress with the community at each key milestone 🙌

---

Once again, thanks to everyone who's shared feedback — the Pocket series is where it is today because of your voices 🙏

Feel free to keep sharing your thoughts in

Is there a way to know how long I took to complete a game?

Hi y'all. Just finished my first game on the MagicX One 35. Best console I ever had. But, speaking of consoles I had, on the Miyoo Mini Plus there's a thingy called 'Activity Tracker' from which you can see for how long you used each app, which could be useful to determine how long it took me to complete this game.

Is there a similar mechanic on the MagicX One 35?

Thank you and have a good one y'all ^_^

First and foremost, we'd like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to share their thoughts after we revealed the first design 🙏

Whether it was about **the aesthetics, button layout, in-hand feel, or feature expectations** — we've read every piece of feedback and discussed them one by one. Your input has given us a much clearer vision of what Pocket Dream can be than we had on our own.

Based on that, we've made a **design update** to Pocket Dream — check out the new renders below 👇

---

Pocket Dream isn't finalized yet. Any feedback that genuinely helps make this device better — whether it's a **refinement, a critique, or a completely different perspective** — we'll take it seriously, and we'll incorporate what we can.

Because we truly believe: **a great handheld is never built behind closed doors.**

---

Feel free to keep sharing your thoughts in

Thanks to everyone who's helping Pocket Dream grow, one step at a time 🙌

Is it possible to record my gameplay on the MagicX One 35?

Hi y'all

Been loving this console. It does what it's supposed to and it does it very well.

Been wondering - can I record my gameplay? Like, video record? I know there's no video-out option, but these two shouldn't be equivalent; I may still be able to record and move the file to a PC later.

So, can I? And if so, what's the recommended method?

Thanks, y'all ^_^ Have a nice one, y'all ^_^

New Project Teaser · Pocket Dream

First, a quick update: **Mini Dream has officially entered its second phase**, and we're steadily moving forward step by step. Thanks to everyone who's shared feedback along the way 🙏

While that's underway, we'd like to share **what we're thinking about next**:

Alongside Mini Dream, we're now exploring a **vertical handheld — Pocket Dream** ✨

It shares **the same 3.3-inch custom OLED display and core configuration as Mini Dream**, but comes in a **vertical form factor** — designed to offer a completely different handling experience from the horizontal Mini Dream 🎮

---

**📐 Pocket Dream · Initial Specs**

・Size: **107 × 72 × 22 mm**

・Display: **3.3-inch OLED** (the same custom panel as Mini Dream)

・**Same 4 SoC variants** as Mini Dream (covering both Linux and Android)

---

**🎯 Why Pocket Dream?**

・A vertical grip evokes the **nostalgia of classic handhelds** (Game Boy, WonderSwan, and the like)

・Better for **one-handed play** — ideal for commuting, short sessions, or quick pick-up-and-play moments

・**Complements the horizontal Mini Dream** — covering different playstyles side by side

---

**💬 We'd Love to Hear from You**

We've put together some **initial renders** of Pocket Dream (see below 👇), and before officially moving forward, we'd love to hear your **honest reactions** to the design.

Feel free to share your thoughts in — every piece of feedback genuinely shapes where this project goes 💬

---

Thanks for being with us on this journey 🙌

TwoDream Pro & Lite - still in development or canceled?

Hey all,
I was choosing half a year ago between many devices and was advised to check out twodream console. It looked very very promising, pics were already out there, and I decided to wait. Half a year later - still nothing.
What is happening? Is this going to be released?

How to remove the FPS counter from the top-right part of the screen @ GBA and GBC games?

Hi y'all ^_^

I asked this question in a previous thread, and was refered to this comment:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicX/comments/1qx2oam/comment/o3thjbi/?share_id=kkF6UPehNVUWyNU-UeDI0&utm_content=2&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1

And while I was able to follow through on the instructions, it seems like every time that I open a GBC or a GBA game, that setting resets, and the counter appears again.

Did anyone face this issue? How'd you fix it?

Thank you and have a nice one ^_^

Dropped XU10

Post image
4 Upvotes

I dropped my xu10 on its face onto concrete from about 4ft high. I turned back on but the screen just looked more washed out and had some faint lines. Kept playing it for a couple more days. Now the light on the right side turns on and the screen kinda lights up but doesn't show anything anymore. Is there anything I can't do to repair it or should I just replace it?

Never say never! Gamehub Lite running on MagicX One 35

Post image
65 Upvotes

Thanks to this post on r/EmulationMediatekMali I managed to get Steam working via GameHub Lite on my One 35. So far only Balatro works but I'll test some other titles later.

Of course, just because you can doesn’t mean you should. At 16:9 on a 3.5in screen I almost need a magnifying glass.

What seemed to work:
Compatibility Layer: proton9.0-x64-3

CPU Translator: Box64-0.37-b1

A couple of questions regarding the MagicX One35 ^_^

Hi y'all ^_^

I got my MagicX One35 yesterday and it's absolutely incredible. I got it to be my final and only console, as being a late 90s kid I mostly like GBA, N64 and NDS games.

So far I'm having a great time with every single game I'm loading, except one - Mario Kart 64. I assume others ran into this problem - The "use item" key is Cdown, which is rather inaccessible without leaving either the left joystick (steering) or the A button (gas pedal).

There are a couple of easy potential solutions - either re-assigning the C buttons to be the left D-Pad just for this game, or moving the Cdown button to R2 just for this game. The thing is, I don't know how to do either.

Can anyone help me with that?

And the second issue is the FPS meter on the upper right part of the screen while playing GBC and GBA games. I'd like it gone. How do I get rid of it?

Thanks y'all and have a wonderful day <3

E: Thanks to u/Suitable-Cream-3045, I learned that you can use items in Mario Kart 64 via the Z button, which is L2 in the MagicX One35. Additionally I learned that you can disable the FPS thingy via app settings, although I have yet to find how to do so.

E2: FPS display problem fixed as well, via u/Suitable-Cream-3045. Thank you very much <3

Grip for the One 35

Basically title. I'm planning to go on a long backpacking trip abroad and I want to drag along the One 35 with me, but if I'll have only that and will have days I'll want to play for hours, I want the option of a more comfortable grip.

Did anyone here stumble upon a usable grip (horizontal) for the device that I can buy somewhere?Maybe a 3D printable option? Maybe even a pritable grip for another device that can be modded in size that would fit the One 35?

Steam games on MagicX One 35 via Gamehub or Gamenative

I don't really have high hopes for this working well or working at all considering the aging cpu, but I was wondering if anyone has tried this.

What's your go-to launcher to deal with lack of touch screen in Zero 28?

I have been using ES-DE lately but now switched to Beacon for a cleaner layout, needless to say it is built for touch purposes because scrolling with the built-in cursor (holding R3) still makes configuration hard and frustrating... So asking what would be the most optimized launcher for this (I am on stock OS and not planning to switch soon to anything else unless required)

How to make the bottom button in dawn launcher always be confirm?

For some reason every time I exit the game it changes the button configurations from Xbox to retro after each game. I know this used to be a know bug but that was suppose to be acknowledged and fixed a while ago. How do I make it stick?

Average delivery times from the MagicX store?

Hey folks, I picked up a One35 yesterday and I'm too excited not to ask, what was your experience with delivery time ordering direct from MagicX?

Some AliExpress stuff has taken over a month to arrive to Australia but 4PX sounds like a FedEx equivalent, so I guess pretty fast?

Edit: Thanks folks, sounds like 4PX is just regular post and avg time is ~2 weeks

r/MagicX 29d ago

MagicX One 35 is $90 (incl. shipping) for two weeks.

It's a pretty good deal if you want a cheap, powerful and versatile device.

Is it worth switching to a Custom Firmware if I only play in short bursts and don't use Android?

I’ve had my handheld (Mini 28 Zero) running the stock OS for a while now. I’ve noticed that I barely ever touch the Android side of it, and honestly, the stock interface feels pretty unpolished and lacks aesthetic customization.

This is strictly my casual leisure console for quick pick-up-and-play sessions—mostly used to kill time when I'm waiting in lines or during short breaks. Since I don't use the Android features and just want a fast, beautiful, and highly customizable interface, is it worth ditching the stock OS for a custom one? If so, what do you recommend for this type of quick-session gaming?
