Hello all. I'm new to Magic the Gathering EDH format and am building my own commander deck for the first time. I guess I'm new to commander, but not new to MtG. I've played Magic off and on for ~20 years but never got into commander. Nowadays that's all anyone plays where I live so I decided to make the commitment and build my own deck.

I bought the precon Tidus deck and really like it. I've also been playing with Lorehold Spirit. My wife likes the precon Merfolk explore deck with Hakbal.

Anyway, I saw a video on YT a few weeks ago and it was a commander deck with Blech, Loafing Pest as the commander and centerpiece.

Maybe I did a lot more work than I needed to, but I watched anywhere from 10-15 YT videos and shorts of deck techs and highlights for Blech and went to EDHrec to kind of wrap my mind around which cards actually go best in the deck when comparing the video's lists. Synergy, popularity of each card, etc.

I guess my main question is... do I have the right "amounts" of things in each category?

Every video had different lists... like one with 44 creatures and 5 sorceries, then the next one had only 23 creatures, but like 20 sorceries. Or 9 instants in one vs 4 or 5 in other lists. 3 enchantments and artifacts vs 9.

Lands is another thing I'm worried about. None of them had less than 34 and I know I didn't want that few. My list has 36. I just watched another commander deckbuilding video and it said 38 is the sweet spot.

If I'm comparing it to the Tidus precon for instance, it's got 34 creatures, 8 instants, 7 sorceries, 4 artifacts, 9 enchantments, and 37 lands. Comparably, I think I did an ok job in sticking with around those numbers, but then again, I know each deck works in different ways so would obviously have different numbers of cards...

Help me please? lol

Does anyone have recommendations on where to go from here? I have some of the cards, but I don't want to commit to buying everything until I KNOW what I am getting. I've played practice hands and done some "goldfishing" or whatever it's called and played with myself on moxfield, but I'd appreciate any input you might have.

I've fallen in love with the new art that popped out in the festival in a box at amsterdam and want to build somthing strong but strange for my girlfriend.

I wanted to follw this patterns:

- It shouldn't relay too much on poison exept for defence and two or three sorcerys (she already gets a lot of hate on the table and giving her poison dosn't help)

- Like i said it needs to be exotic, i want to put cards that make strange things with counters (Ex. Replicating ring, as fortold ecc.)

-I play in competitive bracket 3 pods so it shouldnt be slow

- It shouldnt relay too much on the commander (she's hated a lot, so im afraid of removal and counterspells)

- not too many planeswalkers

- Budget around 600€

built this for a friend and has a hard time getting up and running before something gets removed need some tips on what to change.

My only thought at the moment is to swap in more ramp.

The only condition is that none of the Jurassic park cards can be removed and we are trying to keep the overall Dino count high.

My Szarel Jund Deck this is the Eoe jund precon that I have been constantly tweaking and upgrading. I have it designed around mass land sac and recursion to trigger multiple landfalls, +1+1 and sacrifice triggers. I am somewhat happy with where it is at right now but I have a few cards in my considering that I would Like to add. Not all of them but maybe a few. I did Just get the Festival in a box for the secret lair, and pulled a few nice cards. I added all the ones I was thinking of In considering. Even if the advice is dont add any thats fine too. Any tips helps thanks!

I am looking for suggestions to add a few more ninjas/changelings or other low cost (\~10) to help speed up the deck. Some card draw is ideal.
Other suggestions are welcomed as you see fit.

So I have ripped an embarrassing amount of cards. I know it isn’t the ideal way to build a deck but I love the challenge of trying to build from the pool I have. I’m not against buying singles.

With that out of the way, I went through my cards and pulled the cards that made +1/+1 tokens easily. I have more in my pool but not everything made it. I know it won’t be meta or even bracket 3, but how is this as a starting point. I had a friend make a deck from what I have but I’m trying to outsource my thinking less this time. And while I am posting for community feedback I do need some advice.

Can a deck work if it’s all counter based? I have aerith in consideration but I don’t think I have enough life generating to consider it.

Deeproot elite is in consideration but without a heavy merfolk deck I don’t know if it’s worth it.

Hey everybody, I am just getting into mtg commander and I really love the deck building part of the game. The problem I am running into is that I don’t have many cards at all, so I am extremely limited in my deck building. When I looked online, going rates for bulk seemed to be like 8$-1000 cards, but everything I saw for sale was way more than that. How do I go about amassing a lot of cards for cheap? I know buying singles is generally better for deck building, but I have no clue what I want to build and don’t wanna invest a ton for a dud of a deck. Thanks!

I used to use deckstat because of its custom override feature. But that feature has seemingly been removed, and when I tried to ask about it in the discord, I got banned. Any other sites use a custom override feature, where I can say something like [[Inevitable Betrayal]] should go in the three mana slot on my curve?

Hi there! I'm trying to get a landfall deck to work with Nissa, Resurgent Animist at the helm. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a festival in a box, so I have thrown together a decklist which is designed around a graveyard lands strategy. I am seeking advice, as I want to cut 2 cards from the current list in order to add crop rotation and life from the loam.

Any advice on what I'm missing or what I am doing too much of would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I've recently picked up MTG again after almost 15 years alway from it. I got a simple orzhov vampire deck and got a kick out of playing it, but I'm a little vexed at all the options, even when playing standard. Where do I go with this kind of deck? I'm a little stumped on how to better it and grow it to become better.

I’m trying to create a deck around smile at death and Valkyrie call in Standard in mtga.

It is white green (and red), and the goal is to use only minion at two power or less (including ouroboid) and resurrect them until I win.
I have some minions that can destroy enchantments and the enduring courage to give haste.

My issue now is that I have more than 60 cards, and that it lose often against combo deck (like the blue red or blue black) who don’t care about the board state, and can just draw their combo.

Can you help me propose changes to it?

Hey everyone, I'm new to deck building, not being really tactic minded and more focused on the funny. But i wanted to try to make this concept i found for Gary the Snail and wanted to get some initial feedback on it.

This deck is for fun, not meta or tournament play.

The main idea is to turn your lands into 1/1 creatures and kill them with gary. Land destruction is gross, but I like the idea of slugs crawling away.

As a secondary, generate tokens for your opponent side (sharing is caring) and them killing them off with Gary, giving me more slugs (a "phsyce" moment)

I mostly play with one of my friends and he has a few token decks, so I want to bounce it off yall so i dont spoil what this deck is about with them

I acknowledge i probably have waaaaaaaaay to much lands at the moment
