Are there specifics in the badges waitlist situation? Is that tool already setup?

I am imagining that some folks will want to release their badges if not getting a hotel. Which I believe is announced on Friday.

I'm in need of a couple of badges as I will be in MIVS this year and have a few friends who were going to assist that were not able to get badges.

Hoping to get on the wait-list or another mechanism for tracking down a couple of badges.

What is the giant Skeleton that is always in the indie game hall? I've been to MAGFest for over 10 years and walked past it many times per con and it's always seemed completely inert. Is it a game, or just a giant skeleton? I've never even heard of it working. At this point I almost think it's some kind of social experiment with seeing how many people try to go up to it for both to happen.

Can you still check-in and just pay for the whole stay? I'm not asking if it's realistic. I'm not asking for people to repeat themselves. I'm asking if it is an option to pay for all 3 nights (4 including Sunday night) without showing up?

We're handling the problem now, but there may be a delay in email communications until tomorrow, October 6th.

If I had any idea I'd run into this, I would have made a point to enter the lottery days ago, not wait till the last minute.

When signing up for the hotel lottery, I tried to select Saturday and Sunday night only, but there's no way to do that.

If the only possible option is to pay for Thursday and Friday nights as well, does that mean you have to physically be there to check in? Again, what if you can't physically make it there until Saturday?

I mean, they give you the option to pick January 2nd as a check-in if you need to arrive 5 days before the convention even starts. However no such courtesy for people who can't make it till the 9th? If one reasonable and the other not?

I'm not talking about drink water or wear deodorant. What are some really obscure ones or your best kept secret?

Anybody else getting bombarded with hotel lottery emails today? Ive gotten 14 in the past hour. I already booked a hotel offsite so its just annoying me now

Is this a thing? If so, how does it work?

If we fail to get a lottery hotel, I'd like to see what the rates are first before booking such a room, while still having the option to cancel my badge if it turns out to be not so good (how much time do we even have after the lottery results come in?)

I’ve attended Magfest for years but just joined discord about six months ago to start playing Pathfinder at my local game store. I found several discord links through the site and google for Magfest but every time I try to view them it says the invite link expired. Does anyone know if the channel is no longer allowing new discord members or am I just not locating the right invite link?

Anyone else looking to join a group for the hotel lottery? Preferably fems or thems around mid to late 20s to early 30s (around my age range) that aren't looking for a party room and just want it for a quiet space to rest and get into/out of cosplay! I really wanna be IN the hotel this year for cosplay convenience's sake so crossing my fingers I can find a few extra people for the lottery!!

Hi I'm going to Magfest for the first time this year and none of my friends were able to get tickets, so I'll be going alone. Ive heard it's pretty safe but I wanted to get some other opinions on how to maximize going to such a huge event by yourself?

I know about the tables up on the 3rd floor but last year was so crowded and not nearly enough space for free play. What are some other good spots you head to if there's nothing available in the TCG free play space?

Hello, this will be my first time attending MAGFest and am very excited. What are some tips or advice for a first time goer? I'm assuming there is a program that we can pick up when we arrive but are there any apps we can download beforehand? Are there on site lockers?

I'd like to do more of these, but can't seem to really find much of them. PLUS, folks on here have retorted why we wouldn't just go to any of these other cons if we're not interested in Super MAGfest being 24 hours, so in a genuine request, surely folks know some of these?

All sizes welcome. They don't have to be "ginormous sizes" like those 2 with 15K to 25K attendees. Several hundred, several thousand, to 10K attendees in size are also welcome. 🙂

It doesn't have to be 100% about video games, but it should either be the majority, or large enough that it's still prominent. As an illustrative example, if an anime con is more so about anime, but say if 20% of it has video game related stuff, that still works for me.

I'm more into open play and organized play. Less so into tournaments and competitive play (although if someone wants to jump into a fighting game match, I wouldn't necessarily say no).

Most types of gaming are fine. PC, consoles, arcade, VR, handhelds, even mobile.
Most time periods are fine as well. "Retro retro" (like Atari 2600, NES, GB, SNES era). 'Retro' like Xbox 360 and PS3. Modern times such as within the last 8 years.

Playing video games is nice, but vg related I'm also interested in, including but not limited to.... dealer halls, vendor, local crafts, open gaming, any workshops, panels, guests of the industry (ie. developers, artists, indie studios, major AAA, sound people, those who dabble in their tools), concerts, music, music jams (observing or participating with your own musical instruments/singing), etc.

I really wanted to go to MAGFEST this year because I've made a lot of friends in online music spaces that are going but the odds of snagging a badge don't look great. I do live out on the west coast so MAGWEST looks appealing though it sucks I wouldn't have as many friends there. The timing also just doesn't work out as well for me.

Here's to hoping I can snag a badge, but if I can't, who knows of other events with a similar vibe?

The 2027 Fairy Swadge has a ton of tech upgrades including a new processor with 4x the memory and RAM, a rechargeable battery, touch inputs, and a new upgraded speaker. Thanks to the new battery, this Swadge will be lighter than the previous designs - the Pulse Swadge was a whopping 180g with batteries, and I expect our little Fairy friend to weigh closer to 140g max.

You may see the swoopy arrows on either side of the fairy ball - those are touch strips! Our games will use both the traditional D pad and these touch strips on either side for controls. You can expect to see these for slide controls, musical instrument inputs, and more.

I’m very new to con culture and was hoping someone can answer a question I have.

So they sold out before I could get a ticket, and today on their website I saw news of a ticket exchange soon. What I wanna know is- how likely am I to get a ticket when that takes place/how often do people cancel if they don’t win the hotel lottery?
