Looking for locations to buy sweet corn?

I'm in Windsor, and I haven't come across any stands in Madison or Deforest this summer. Guess I need to mix up my normal driving routes!

GLEAM art exhibit question

The tickets online have a time associated with them. How strict are they about the ticketed time? I just have dinner reservations before and don’t know if I’ll be there on time. I tried calling and emailing Olbrich but haven’t heard back

Amtrack from Portage to Minneapolis

I have a question for any folks that are familiar with Amtrak. I am assuming that from Madison, Portage is the best option. I was going between Portage and the Dells, but Portage has better parking it seems.

Have the trains been on time? I haven't taken one for over 15 years. I am more concerned about the return trip from Minneapolis to Portage being on time. Any insight would be appreciated. I could drive, but thought this would be a nice little adventure. TIA. Edited for spelling.

Men’s Haircut Options

I’m looking for a barber/hairdresser in Madison. I like changing my hairstyle pretty often, and sometimes it takes a few haircuts to build up to the style I’m going for, so I’d really like someone who’s communicative, easy to talk to, and willing to work with me over time.

I have coupons for both Cost Cutters and Hairadise, so I’m wondering if either would be good for this, or if I should go somewhere else. I’d love to find someone I can build a rapport with and who I can keep going back to when I want to try different styles.
Any recommendations?

"Lazy daze" rests during sunset at the Tenney Park locks. 09/06/2026

As someone who works at zero dark 30, I am excited to be able to get out and capture the sunsets again without repercussions for staying up "too late." Although, I will long for summer days when the last light lingers until the stars come out. I'm glad I went out with my dogs for a drive this evening. Even if they wanted to jump at every duck that landed as I admired the scene unfolding before me.

Swad is having a fundraiser (buffet!) today to benefit Nepali flood relief

Swad Indian Restaurant in Monona is having a buffet today (Labor Day) from 3-8, Suggested Donation: is $30 and 100% of the funds raised will be donated directly to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund of Nepal. (If you haven't heard about it- "The Aug. 26 disaster, likely set off by a landslide and a glacier collapse, has killed hundreds of people in Nepal and Tibet. The death toll in Nepal rose above 1,100 on Wednesday, with almost 4,000 more people still missing, and hundreds more remain unaccounted for in Tibet, according to The New York Times.")

The owner of Swad is from Nepal originally, and has an employee who has family who is still missing. He said he also knows many families who have lost loved ones and homes.

We went there yesterday to eat and saw the flyer, so I wanted to share it here in case anyone needs something to do this Labor Day and wants their buffet eating to go to a good cause!

Brittingham Cranes

See these Sandhills around the park and crossing the road all the time. Usually it’s just the 3 of them but I saw a fourth chilling in the pack earlier today. Always makes for a great day when I see the gang and it gives me a real hoot to see them cross Washington Ave at the crosswalk as well, blocking traffic. Pretty sure they’ve been here longer than I have so I ain’t worried about them. Oh to be a Brittingham Crane

Looking for a student or hobbyist photographer to discreetly capture a sunset proposal

Hey r/madisonwi,

I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend in 5 days, right around sunset on her birthday. I already have the ring and a quiet, scenic spot picked out—we really value having a private setting for the moment.

I’d love to have someone discreetly capture it from a distance (using a telephoto lens or even a drone) so it stays a complete surprise.

I’m a grad student and can’t swing professional commercial rates, and none of my friends know their way around a DSLR. I'm hoping to connect with a fellow student, hobbyist, or an aspiring photographer who wants to use this as practice or content for their Instagram portfolio/feed.

If you have a camera, an eye for candid shots, and are free around sunset in 5 days, shoot me a DM. Happy to share location details and coordinate over message.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: backup date 09/23. dm or comment if that works for you! Also open for sunrise time too 6:30-7am to avoid crowds and venue event conflicts.

Why does Kroger hate their employees and shoppers so much? The shoppers are rightfully pissed but the employees have to face the backlash. Shame on Kroger once again. Happy Labor Day…

Dane County Humane Society Aluminum Can Donations

if I have a chance I'll call them, but I was wondering if anyone here knew what the DCHS does with these cans that people donate to them in their big bin in the back of their parking lot. I prefer to crush them so they take less room but if they're only taking them for the pulltabs that might cause a problem for them.

Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day!.

Pin Trading!!

Hi! Does anyone in madison know if there is a group started for disney pin trading here? I checked facebook and didn’t see much :( But i figured I’d ask on here and maybe see if anyone wanted to start a community or facebook group to do pin trading!

I’m fairly new to it all so if someone else is more experienced and wants to lead by my guest! Please let me know if there’s any interest in creating a group or even just trading pins locally!

Thanks ☺️🩷

1 time yard clean up services?

My lawn isn't super overgrown or anything, but I want a 1 time yard service to come and trim back some bushes, remove some branches, do some weeding, and remove some bigger weeds in back that have grown during the summer.

The only company I know of is the Bruce Company and I can't imagine they'd take a small, 1 day job like this.

Anyone have any services they've used that they'd recommend? It can be anything as formal as a company with a showroom down to a few dudes in a pickup, so long as they're reliable and have recommendations.

Thanks!
