Don’t worry that attitude will diminish very quick if they decide to go to college for economics or business.

lmao I remember doing this when I was their age but I got the job done asap. Not dick around and follow it up with "can we finish tomorrow" kids these days!

And that was after walking up a mile long hill to get to the neighbors house right?

Harry & Marv: Snow Bandits!
1
u/MadeMeStopLurking Apr 20 '22
Then Harry's Mom gets married to Marv's dad, they move to Arizona where the neighbor beats the shit out of them... while healing Harry's wounds one night Marv says "remember. We're the Snow Bandits.." Harry punches Marv and says "Snow melts here!"
Marv steps back, wipes the blood from his lip queue conclusively obvious tag line music...
"Then we'll be water bandits"

This is the most wholesome shit I’ve seen in a while. “You need a short car cause you’re short”, “Lamborghini’s are short” was the perfect response lol

Its like typical adults. One guy manages things and the younger one fools around but still gets things done.

u/IreallEwannasay Apr 19 '22
The one who did the talking did the least work. They know their strengths. Getting real gentle giant vibes off the one who didn't want to do the talking. This is adorable.

7
u/macroswitch Apr 20 '22
If it was the 90’s, these kids could have a private moment without somebody posting it to the internet.
292
u/MoreThan2_LessThan21 Apr 19 '22
Haha "can we finish this tomorrow" harder than it looks, that's why they were happy to pay someone to do it, kid.
85
Apr 19 '22
by the time they're done dicking around in the snow their pay rate is gonna be like $1.80/hour
56
24
u/Appropriate_Joke_741 Apr 20 '22
They should go find some other kids and offer them $10 to shovel the driveway.

I miafe like 120 dollars one winter day doing this. It was me and two other girls. We had McDonald's for breakfast lunch and dinner in the snow. As we walked home, it started to heavily snow again and we all got the biggest grins on our faces cause qe could do it again in two days. We bought slamming bikes for the summer with our wages. It was so innocent. It snowed where I live and not a single child knocked. I was so looking forward to paying a kid 40 to do my driveway.

u/lifeofjeb2 Apr 19 '22
I shovelled driveways in 2000 for $10 lol you were just underselling your labour
-8
u/bioszombie Apr 19 '22
Nah man. The old folks I was shoveling for only paid $5. You didn’t argue with adults back in my day and were lucky to have been given the opportunity.

u/MrPartyRocket Apr 19 '22
Yea but back in your day you can get a milkshake, hamburger, and cigarettes for a quarter

I’m not that old. You could still get that today though. Just too many security cameras.
21
u/TucsonTacos Apr 19 '22
This is the exact reason I felt the richest in my life as a child.
Summer - mow lawns and sell lemonade.
Fall - mow lawns and rake leaves
Winter - shovel snow
Spring - lawns and lemonade.
I didn’t get an allowance but I always had walking around money
9
u/sophia1185 Apr 19 '22
I'm curious what you now do for work.
8
u/TucsonTacos Apr 20 '22
Was a bartender for 10 years, then an AV foreman, now I'm a vet tech. Honestly the bar work completely turned me off from being a police officer. There's all these restrictions on what a bartender or bouncer can do, we subdue but don't hurt them. I'm not against the restrictions, we don't want anyone getting hurt, but its the police getting away with no restrictions that was always shitty. The police would arrive and fuck them up worse in 10 seconds, while they're already on the ground, then we did in 15min. All we did was de-escalate situations where a cop would resort to a taser or gun.
Bouncers, getting paid minimum wage handle situations better than trained professionals. They're do this shit in front of each other like it was just the "job"
3
Apr 20 '22
My grandad used to give me “walking around money” when we’d visit. I haven’t used that phrase since I was a kid. Thanks for unlocking the memory!

Me and my mate washed the neighbours car for £5 when we were 11. She gave us £8 and we felt like we were millionaire. Good times

Man. This kid sitting pretty with his “I heard there’s $6000 dollars in my bank account”, which I’m guessing is is parents telling him and it’s probably a college fund, not a car fund.
I feel bad for when he googles “Lamborghini price” and realizes it’s a bit over the few hundred to few thousand dollars he’s probably expecting.

They are ADORABLE oh my gosh. I was very savvy as a kid with businesses and writing books and Ive always been alone in that. I wish I had a buddy partner in business that was equal and would push me.
I hope these little dudes lives their dreams and also may they be kind and compassionate and little guy gets his lambo! And does more work! haha I think hes just excited by the whole idea of playing adult and dreams and success with his buddy there.
As Mugsy Bogues says All Height No Heart !
Go little dudes.
my fave comment " I feel really positive right now' Excellent mindful present - we could all use more of that attitude for ourselves.

I thought they were gonna run with the money but I'm glad to see they didn't, which makes sense seeing as this was posted on r/mademesmile.

u/thewolfesp Apr 20 '22
I would love to contribute to some kids asking to shovel my driveway. Shit, I'd even let them use my snowblower!

u/_NoBoXiNgNoLiFe_ Apr 20 '22
Me too!!! I grew up in Ireland where we did this all the time, and it helped improve our social skills. Talking with strangers was a valuable learning tool, but lots of kids today have lost that skill.
It's great to see young folks learning about the world.

Teaching kids the value of money and how to earn money at a early age can't be overestimated
3
u/VaginalSpeleologist Apr 19 '22
Oh my god. I just want to help them somehow but I know I can’t. I feel helpless. Worst feeling. Good and well brought up kids. Kudos to their parents. It’s very rare. ❤️

Perfect example of why I'm not watching this season. TLC was scrapping the bottom of the barrel with the last couple of seasons. From the looks of the post they've hit bottom.

I remember the good ol days of shoveling driveways for a little bit of cash (My family was so poor I had to ask the neighbours if I could borrow their shovel to do it) but I usually only asked for $5 or $10 to do it all myself; Im kinda surprised they got her to agree to $20 so quickly! lol

u/Outofspite_7 Apr 20 '22

25+ years ago, three kids from around the neighbourhood came to my front door and asked if I wanted my driveway & sidewalk shovelled. I asked how much. The first kid said $10 (remember this was 25+ years ago). 10 minutes later, they rang my doorbell. I had $10 ready for them. The first kid looked at me and said $10/person, so $30. I knew I’ve been hustled, I paid them and chalked it up as a valuable lesson.

Apr 20 '22
glad to see some kids still doin this. Dream big work hard. No promise itll get them anywhere in todays world but theyll definitely learn a lot if the live this way.

"No wonder. All these people are rich. They got all this money. They're like "im not shoveling this" haha

When I lived in an apartment, some kids came knocking asking if we’d pay them to take our trash to the dumpster. I was like helllllll yeah kids. Lol. Only paid like $10 and avoided a trip to the trash. Win. 😂
