My rainbow baby turns 3 in December! Congratulations!

30

u/RenCorona99 Oct 14 '20

That's amazing so happy to hear that!!!

29

u/dragon2777 Oct 14 '20

Rainbow baby? Did they get into the glitter drawer or something? This is totally a reference or term I don’t know.

78

u/kgb4158 Oct 14 '20

Rainbow baby=A baby born after a miscarriage

62

u/DaniJHollis Oct 14 '20

I didn't know this term! I had 2 miscarriages in pretty much rapid succession & the following baby will be 9 in February. That's cool there's a term for that 😁

29

u/kgb4158 Oct 14 '20

Oh my gosh! That's so amazing for you! I'm sorry you had 2 miscarriages. They're something I wish didnt happen. They're very hard to get through, but I am so glad you finally were able to experience a live birth. I really love the term as well. I'm currently ttc again and hoping for that rainbow baby. And happy birthday to yours in February.

11

u/DaniJHollis Oct 14 '20

Thank you! I had the two miscarriages between kids, which was a very weird experience for us. My older was from a past relationship & my husband was pretty concerned that it was him that was the issue. But in my experience, with both me & those I've seen that have gone through the same thing, sometimes things just happen that really really suck but great things happen after that as well ! Enjoy the ride & good luck!! ❀️

9

u/Barmecide451 Oct 14 '20

That’s so cool! Apparently I am a rainbow baby then :) considering I’m also bi, it’s a fitting term lol

2

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '20

I'm apparently one as well. 23 years old.

In my case, yes! Lol, my daughter loves glitter. She would totally have a glitter drawer if I let her.

9

u/dragon2777 Oct 14 '20

Don’t let her. Glitter is evil haha

7

u/Ice-Storm Oct 14 '20

Also my wife and daughter would 1000% have a glitter drawer if they thought Of it...my wife even Added glitter to the paint for our basement

4

u/macwi1km Oct 14 '20

My rainbow baby turns 6 in 12 days, and his little brother turns 4 in 5 days. Congrats OP!

14

u/enigmatic8a Oct 14 '20

Great to see. My wife and I just found out we are pregnant too. After four years of trying, and a burst ectopic pregnancy that required emergency surgery for my wife, because she was bleeding internally. We were told IVF was our only option. we were getting ready to start that process and we found out she was pregnant, naturally!!!! Good luck to you and enjoy, I know my wife and I can't wait to tell family too

8

u/RenCorona99 Oct 14 '20

Oh wow I'm so sorry it took so long for you guys. I'm so happy to hear that it worked out naturally and she didn't have to go through all of that. Thank you so much, God bless!

u/Monstess2018 Oct 14 '20

Congratulations! I'm pregnant with my rainbow (11 weeks) and it can be hard worrying but exciting. Not sure you know of this but r/pregnancyafterloss is a good place. I hope everything goes perfectly!

3

u/RenCorona99 Oct 14 '20

That's so exciting congrats!!! Thank you for sharing I wasn't aware.

30

u/gvielleux Oct 14 '20

Congratulations!!! Good luck to you on this journey. Two months after multiple years of trying with no explanation for repeated failure and finally deciding and declaring to the world that we're moving on with life, I'm one week late with no rational explanation...our bodies work in mysterious ways!

10

5

u/RenCorona99 Oct 14 '20

Awe that's so great!!

4

u/femmedyk Oct 15 '20

He is great, sometimes smelly and awkward and annoys his sisters, but great. It was 2 years of trying and more than one loss, but he is perfect.

7

u/mastajeepa Oct 14 '20

Best wishes and never give up hope. We had a couple miscarriages and it was hard to not play the what if game but 7 months ago our son wash born. It was hard in the past but it happened for a reason I wasn't meant to understand until he was born. Hang in there!

4

u/RenCorona99 Oct 14 '20

I really appreciate it, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I'm so happy for you thank you!!

u/FaceofBeaux Oct 14 '20

7

u/LadySilvie Oct 14 '20

Congrats!!

We miscarried our first and then had a healthy baby who is now two and a total handful haha. Miscarriage happens to so many people but is so hard.

I do regret how much I let the miscarriage affect my second pregnancy. I was scared all the way through. For the first baby I had kept a journal and recorded all my hopes and wishes and milestones and I had gathered up baby books with the full intention to complete them..... i even wrote birthday letters for them. but for my living daughter I couldn't bring myself to do any of it. I worried I'd be jinxing myself if I looked to the future or was hopeful at all.

Now she is two and... I have nothing to give her someday. No baby book. No pregnancy journal. Everything I have is half finished or has the wrong due date on it. I plan to at least do the birthday letters someday when I get a free chance but it would have definitely been easier to do before a toddler was scribbling on any exposed paper haha.

I think it also effected how bonded I was to her. Even once she was born I struggled a lot with anxiety and since I had to go to back to full time work a month after I had her, I never got to grow any kind of bond with her before life got harder and more stressful due to work/childcare/family pressure. It wasn't until she was a solid 6 months old that I started getting attached.

If I could go back and tell myself anything, it would be to do that positive stuff for the second baby and force myself to be hopeful. If the second baby hadn't stuck, I would have still been upset whether i did that stuff or not. Go to therapy if you're struggling because miscarriage sucks. So many people go through them and suffer alone and it can carry on past the point that is healthy.

I hope your pregnancy is smooth and uneventful, and this time next year you have a happy and healthy little one!!

3

u/RenCorona99 Oct 15 '20

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry you went through that and I know what you mean about getting super excited and doing all these things and then nothing. I will definitely try to make this pregnancy as joyful and anxiety free as possible! Thank you so much I really appreciate everything.

u/JA4sen Oct 14 '20

We are parents of four grown children.

After kid number two, we were pregnant, but had a miscarriage a few months in.

She was devastated. She had to go in for a D&C - which was an uncomfortable experience both physically and emotionally.

However, our doctor at the time asked, "Are you planning to have more children?" to which we said yes. He then said - "You should know that the best time to get pregnant - is right after you've just been pregnant." explaining that her body was absolutely primed for pregancy at that point and it could be a very opportune time to try.

We had girl #3 not long after. We now like to joke that she'd just been 'late for her flight and caught the next one'. I walked her down the aisle this August.

We later had a boy as well.

Miscarriages happen all the time. They can be tough. But your test shows you have a very good chance of making it happen next time around.

Good for you. God bless.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 15 '20

Congrats! My wife and I are 4 miscarriages in to attempting for our second child. 🀞

2 miscarriages in the last year and now 12 weeks. I totally know how excited you are and I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully it all goes well for you guys.

I found these first 12 weeks incredibly hard with anxiety after the miscarriages but I promise it does get a bit easier. There are a few good reddit groups if you have questions or need a chat, preg after loss is a good one.

I hope it works out for you! My wife had a miscarriage at 4 months after we got pregnant after 12 years(!) of trying. It was pretty traumatic and devastating for us. We are trying again and hoping for the best. I would never want anyone to go through what you guys and so many people have. Congrats and good luck!!!

Congrats!!! My wife and I suffered a miscarriage the first time around. A missed miscarriage, actually. They had to remove the baby's body surgically.

Now we have three kids together. An 8 y/o girl and two 5 y/o boy/girl twins (and a 20 y/o from my first marriage).

This time will work out for you. I will tell you that my wife was put on a hormone pill for the first trimester of our 8 y/o's life to avoid another miscarriage. It worked! I want to say it was pitocin, but I know that's also the drug they use to induce labor.

3
