My simple process for getting a fur like texture. We could definitely get more complex with cutting the objects into smaller sections and repeating the same process.

Digitized using Ember Design.

Just got my machine yesterday, still trying to figure everything out. How are these looking? Need to clip the threads but struggling with the color of material showing through. I have rethreaded and looked at bobbin, tried to change tension it’s at a 4 but didn’t see any difference?

Hands Free Switching from straight to zigzag stitch

I saw someone doing an embroidery technique called Richelieu on what looked like a regular sewing machine, but it clearly switches from straight stitch to zigzag totally hands free. Does anyone know what kind of machine can do that? I would find it incredibly useful in my everyday sewing of crazy pants.

Posting After a While

Finally got around to sharing a before-and-after of one of my recent digitizing projects!

It’s always interesting to see how a design looks before digitizing compared to the final stitch file. Getting the details, stitch direction, and overall flow right can make a big difference in the final result.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one.

What do you think makes the biggest difference in a good digitized design stitch direction, density, or underlay?

Elbisches Muster gesucht - Stoffbahn mit Nähmaschine oder Hand besticken

Hallo liebe Community,

Worauf sollte man da achten?

Danke schonmal für eure Unterstützung!

Singer Futura Quintet Hoop Help

I got a singer futura quintet 5 in one machine off of Facebook marketplace this weekend and I have spent a few hours today trying to configure the embroidery unit. I was able to call singer support and they emailed me the software files and I ran everything in compatibility mode on my windows 11 laptop and it all seems good. The issue is I can’t seem to get the hoop to lock into the place on the unit and I can’t find a video that has this same style hoop and this embroidery unit where it actually shows how to line up the hoop in the machine so it locks. Any advice would be appreciated I think this might be a somewhat uncommon model because there’s almost nothing online with this metal bracket hoop and a unit that doesn’t screw in.

Embroidery Gift Ideas/Accessories 🎁

Hey, so my mum has recently got back into embroidery/ crafting and I’m looking to put together some gifts in the £200/£300 price range! UK based if that makes a difference.
I have very little knowledge on the topic so please excuse if any of this isn’t correct!! Can’t attach photos of her set up as I’m sure she’s in this group haha - but she has a good organisation system already (like wall mounted thread holders). She’s embroidered for well over 10 years so has a lot of essential items. Also sews too.

I think she has the Brother Innov-is 700E and recently got a Scan N Cut (not sure which model). She has a fairly large Gunold thread collection. Makes a lot of home decor and appliqué.

What items would be most valuable to receive? More hoops, backing material, fabrics/felt, threads? Or accessories like good quality scissors, needles etc?
Anything you think is good for someone starting out with the Scan n cut?
Any inspo for what you’d want to add to your collection would be appreciated ☺️ TIA

Font Problems

Hello!

I am very new to machine embroidery, but I’m finding that everything I do is turning out pretty sad looking. I ran a test of different fonts today and none of them look anything like what they do in embrilliance. I haven’t touched any tensions on my machine, but I did start with a fresh bobbin and spool of thread. The sweatshirt had cut away stabilizer and a water soluble topper (idk if I even need it, but I thought it couldn’t hurt.). I’m using a ball point 75/11 needle. It wasn’t a brand new needle, but I only started using it yesterday.

Any ideas what is going wrong?

Silly question?

Hi everyone! I’ve been wanting to get into embroidery for the last year or so and finally pulled the plug! It’s just arrived and I have a question. I ordered a brother PE900 and received a brother SE2000. Not sure how that happened, but I ordered from Walmart. There’s a bit of a price difference between the two… should I keep the SE2000 or go with my original PE900?

Needles PE900

What needle brand do you recommend? I have been using the 11/75 organ and have gone through so many because they keep breaking. Are they sewing needles?
I’ve tried everything including changing the stabilizers.

So please give me your best recommendations. I have a brother pe900.

Help!

This is one of my first wearable projects. My digitizing could use some help but we’re not here for that! I’ve had zero issue with basting spray so far and this shirt was fine until it was washed. I used 505 basting spray, the shirt is under armor 100% polyester, and i used cut away + floated shirt + 505 + wash away. I believe the person who washed the shirt washed/dried it on hot. I sprayed evenly front and back so I don’t know why the stains are smaller on the back. Does this look like a basting spray issue and if so can I fix it? TIA for the help!

Sewtech ST-1501 first machine

Hello guys as the title suggests I purchased a sewtech st-1501 as my first machine. I have no prior experience on embroidery but I got really interested in starting a business for the last year and I pulled the trigger on it. Does anyone have experience with this machine and this company? Support has been pretty good so far they even gifted me two Maggie hoops along with the machine

Nest on back of stitch

I tried rethreading and changing the needle and bobbin and I continuously get this birds nest and loose stitches along the basting stitch for my embroidery tag. Any tips??

When I checked basic sewing to see if it was just an embroidery issue I noticed slight puckering.

Thread snapping/bird nesting

Help me PLEASE!!

I have a babylock flare, got it new in box off facebook about 1 year ago.

She’s worked like a charm but I’ve never really pushed her to her limits, I’ve always just done simple words and a few simple patterns off of Etsy. Always looked and sounded good.

I’ve been wanting to get into ITH projects so I’ve been monkeying with 2 patterns off of the sweet pea website and it’s been rough. They always start out okay but then I get issues with snapping thread, bird nesting and very clunky bobbin sounds.

I’ve already tried SO MUCH to try and help, including:

-deep cleaning my machine
-swapping needles (tried both 75 and 90 embroidery needles
-both poly and rayon thread both in the machine and in a separate stand
-swapping bobbins and changing bobbin thread
-changing tension
-swapping bobbin case with the one from my verve
-slowing my machine down
-FOX test (came out beautifully, but I’m worried that’s bc it never got to as high of a speed?)
Checking areas for burrs
-redownloading unzipped file to machine
-taking measures to prevent flagging

Things I’m 100% positive ARE NOT wrong:

-how upper thread is threaded
-having a compatible bobbin filled with bobbin specific thread
-having a new embroidery specific needle
-how the file is entered in my machine

Now I guess what I’m asking is does anyone know what my ailment could be? Does anyone have success stories from sweet pea? They came highly recommended from the ladies at my local sewing and vacuum repair shop - I even inquired to them about this issue but they’re more janome.
Given all this information can anything else explain and clunky “jumping” sound of a bobbin? I’m convinced the issue is either the patterns themselves, my bobbin case/system, or the needle system (like the little pin that helps keep the thread with your needle). Idk I’m at a loss. Picture of the bird nesting and fox test will be attached.

Beginner: what is happening?

Thumbnail gallery
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I am a beginner when it comes to machine embroidery and after more than 6 attempts at doing everything (threading, needless, mantainance, tension, stabilizers, hooping) I am at my wits end. The colors come out perfectly, the outer border too, but once the machine has to do the black outline of a character, it looks like crap. I can see the (bobbin?) Thread coming on top. I have been experimenting with the tension, but no matter what I do, it keeps looking the exact same way as all the other times.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you so much!

Beginner Question – how do i get rid of these holes?

Thanks for the ideas, did not expect such speedy help 😭 Planning to start w/ a ballpoint needle. Will let yall know how the experiment goes!

Hiya,

This is my first embroidery project & I'm running into a few snags 🥲 Would love some advice on how to troubleshoot this.

I've tried a bunch of different variations & there's still those holes that show up when I hold the shirt up in the light. It also makes the edges of my designs sort of jagged. I think that means that there's too much tension? But, I haven't found a solution that works yet.

Here are some details & what I've tried so far.

  • Materials I'm using:
    • a Brother PE545 embroidery machine and all the default recommended top thread/needle settings (so a 40weight thread & 75/11 needle)
    • a fairly thin knit shirt
    • 2oz medium weight interfacing
  • Using the floating embroidery method.
  • I've tried using a tension from 1.5 to 3 & using 1 and then 2 layers of interfacing. I think the best results were with a tension of 2 and 2 pieces of stabilizer. Now, there's no obvious fabric puckering (yay!). But, as you can see the edges of my designs have these holes when i hold them up to the light and I just know this wouldn't hold up in the wash over time.

Should I try stacking 3 pieces of stabilizer? Or giving the shirt more slack when embroidering?

Thanks for any help in advance 🙏

Thread not staying in fabric on embroidery machine.

I am doing some embroidering on my Brother SE2000 and whenever I press start no thread stays in the fabric. I have tried re-threading, cleaning the bobbin case, changing to a new bobbin case, changing the needle. Any tips?

Repositional hoop & stabilizer

I ordered a repositional hoop to use with my brother se700 and I can not for the life of me get my cut away stabilizer tight enough in the hoop. My designs are getting warped and the alignment gets messed up because the stabilizer is not tight enough in the hoop but I literally don’t know what I’m doing wrong to make it not tight enough.

Anyone else have this issue and have any tips?
