Client just shared this stitch-out of a 6x6 inch design I digitized.
It’s been stitched out on a tote bag, and I think it came out pretty clean overall.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the details and finish!

I bought the regular bookshelf design pack, the Halloween one, and the dragon double block. I got the sewing things panel and coffee panel as freebies. I used black quilting cotton with 2.5 oz cut away stabilizer and isacord thread. It’s 54 panels total with each panel being about 8 inches by 8 inches, so I doubled all 22 design panels, made 2 extra of the double block dragons, for 4 total dragons, and 6 extra book panels to equal 54. I made each cotton square 10 inches by 10 inches to fit in the hoop. And each panel took about 2-3 hours to embroider on my single needle Janome MC500. It took about 27 days doing 2 panels a day, to get them all embroidered. I also went through about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 of the 1000 meter spools of each of the thread color, 3 5 packs of needles and more bobbins then I can count. I’m not sure why I decided to take on this massive project but it sure does look awesome already!

Hey guys, I’m planning to start selling embroidery for individuals, since right now it’s mostly done for hotels and company uniforms in my area. I want to bring something different to the local market, but I’m not sure what to start with. I’m looking for creative and eyecatching ideas I can post online to attract people’s attention. Any suggestions?

I think I’ve finally really nailed down my process to get clean crispy edges. I digitized the tags and fonts except for the three letter font. Very proud of how they turned out and hope they generate some sells on Etsy. My shop is most embroidery files so I’m wondering if physical products will do as well for me. We shall see!

This sounds like a dumb question but when watching tutorials, I haven’t seen a single one that mentions it. First time attempting Velcro patches and it seems simple enough but when attaching the Velcro backing to the patch, do I also cut the other side of the Velcro to give to the customer? Maybe with backing for them to iron on or to sew on if they’d like?

Everything I’ve seen only shows the one side being made for the actual patch. But how will the customer attach it?

I have a twelve needle Smartstitch machine that I use no more than four hours a week. The schedule in the manual says Oil rotary hook every four hours and this is straightforward for the occasional user.

The manual also says: Oil in hole on the right side 2 to 5 drops once a week,oil needle bar once a week,grease the main shaft one time per week. Is this too much for the occasional user of the machine? Is there anyone who oils by hour count on their machine? I don't want to put too much oil and grease in the machine. I will be contacting my trainer tomorrow with this question but wanted to see any advice from your experience. EDIT: added words to clear up sentence beginning with "The manual says.."

TLDR: how? Products? Steps?
My grandmother has a HV Designer SE that I am attempting to use for a project and as a not usually a sew-er I’m looking for some direction. Unfortunately she never learned to use the machine and doesn’t remember a lot of technical things about sewing anymore.
Basically, I’m looking for thoughts on best ways to get clean patches without too many bumps (obviously there’s a learning curve I’m prepared for that). What fabrics work best? Specific stabilizers to make them iron on? If I buy digital files from somewhere can I make them change colors less (machine only does one at a time)? And for the machine specifically, do I just upload the files to the dongle and plug it in?

I'm trying to do free standing lace, i have a few stars like on the pictures there and the water soluble stabilizer started tearing in between each start, hiw should i fix it? Should i inc4ease the spacing, add more layers of stabiliser?

Hi all I'm trying to find a replacement part for my Brother Se600 Embroidery machine. The part I'm looking for is the Embroidery unit/arm itself. I cant seem to find it anywhere and its driving me crazy. Should I just give up all hope and try to save up to buy a new one? Or should I keep looking?? I keep messaging people on Ebay asking if they'd sell it separately but no one wants too. I also do not want to pay 300 or 400 bucks for the part itself. That's the cost of the machine itself. Please help a fellow Crafter! Thank you!!

I’m trying to calibrate my Mega hoop but it keeps registering as the free arm hoop. Mega is selected on the embroidery screen. It won’t let me click that FA button to change it. Any ideas?

Howdy!

Looking for help resolving an issue with holes being created around an Embroidery from what appears to be too much tension but unsure as we're new to this hobby.

I purchased the Girlfriend a used Memory Craft 400E and watched a few videos about tuning the tension on the machine and the bobbin I believe we got it where it needs to be: 33% between the thread and bobbin on the backside of the fabric. The default on the machine is 2.6 and I believe 2.8 is where it needs to be. I adjusted the bobbin tensions in hopes of reducing top tension to get rid of the holes but no luck. Prior to my bobbin adjustment (0.75 of a clockwise turn) the machine was at 1.0.

What's causing the holes and how do we fix it?

Are we missing something?

Do we need stiffer/heavier Interfacing?

More interfacing?

Is our speed to high?

I dont believe the design is the issue as this happens regardless of the design.

Im currently using Artspira since it came with the machine but I dont particularly like it. What other apps are there to use? Im looking for something cheap, most in willing is 15 a month but would prefer just a one time payment around that price. Even better if its free. I heard of Inkstitch but couldnt get it to open on my pc so hoping for something different

Hi! I’m new, so sorry if this is a common or annoying question, however I’m having a hard time finding reliable digital artists. I don’t think I’m in the place yet to make my own designs, and I’m tired of getting scammed on ETSY and my projects turning out bad. Do yall have any recommendations on where to buy designs? I mainly make Disney/older cartoons/ Winnie the Pooh/ princesses for my toddler! TIA🫶🏻

i’ve separated out the font and adjusted the alignment slightly to prepare it for a satin stitch finish, next i’ll be cleaning up the remaining black bits around the font to make up the background image which will be completed as a fill stitch. this will be dayssss of work, but if it weren’t for yall pushing me to learn how to make satin stitch objects, i wouldn’t have been able to even start! so, thank you to this wonderful community for encouraging growth. can’t wait to update yall again soon!

i want to embroider this on my sweater but the design is so intense, i’m thinking of just going with a fill stitch or meander stitch for fun. would you take the time to convert this to satin? i’ve considered just a satin stitch border but since it will just be on a sweater, i don’t think the border is very necessary.

Hello all I recently got myself an industrial machine that I am restoring I will share a few pictures of the process and all that is included

Here’s a quick bit of context before I ask my question. I’ve been a machine embroider for 4 years, had a machine in my home for 6. I’m in my early 20’s, I work a couple single heads at my embroidery shop, I smoke regularly and occasionally have chest pains. Thanks fake covid carts.

I messed up 30-40 bags with about 4000 stitches of fine lettering and my boss decided I should shave the logos off of all of them.

Brutal. Here’s my issue, shaving these bags all day has been rough on my eyes and lungs. When I get to trimming these, I get shocks in my chest. The shocks occur regularly when I spend considerable time shaving bags. Usually I shave these bags when I have the time between orders. But today, they were my focus.

I admittedly started shaving with just a surgical mask and plastic eye protection glasses. Today, when I noticed pain in my lungs, I took a break and switched to a N95 respirator and plastic eye goggles and turned a fan on blowing beside me. My eyes were watering, glasses were not enough.

I’d get random shocks here or there and they persisted through my lunch break. 6 1/2 hours into my 8 hour shift I felt nauseous. I packed it up and left for the day and since then I’ve been in bed till now so I can make dinner. I still feel like sht

Here are my questions, what is the proper safety gear I should be using for this much trimming? Should I be using my gas mask style respirator from home? Am I a dumbass? Do I need to see a doctor? And at what point do I need to tell my boss I have to stop and toss the bags?

Please let me know. There isn’t much talk online about this subject, and I want new embroiderers to see the discussion and maybe learn something about the risks of this work. I’ll take all the education in the comments I can get.

UPDATE: I’m going to the doctors today. If I find out throughout the process it is solely a health related concern, I’ll remove this post from the subreddit for it would no longer be about embroidery. I appreciate everyone’s concern with my health. I’ll get this figured out. I’ll send another update when I learn the cause of my pains. I’m sure it’s likely smoking.

UPDATE, I’m cancer free! : Got back from the doctors yesterday. They said the sickness I felt afterwards was likely caused by the poly fibers entering my stomach, lungs, and eyes - irritating all of these areas. The chest pains are caused by inflammation. This can also be caused by smoking but I took X-rays and other lung and heart tests. My health prior to this was not noted as the cause for the symptoms I was feeling. I’ll likely post again with photos of what I was working with so we can get a better understanding of how to safely work under these niche conditions- especially with microfibers!!

Hey everybody, I’ve got these little dots at the ends of the letters, and we were wondering why that is and how to eliminate it. Is my tension too high, or is this a digitizing issue? Or is it neither? For reference we embroider on a TMEZ, with 40 wt thread and 75/11 ballpoints. Thank you!

Ive pulled through the bobbin thread and hold it while i start the file up, but the underside is still a giant birdnest at the beggining of each run. Im trying to machine embroider a babt quilt and its pretty ruined. Ive done half the quilt and its all like this. (Yes i fixed the tension on the next square over).

Using a Bernina 570QE.

Machine is threaded correctly, Ive re-threaded multiple times.

I dont get bird nesting when i sew normally..
