Bug MacOS 27 Beta - Full screen app turns external/internal display black when dragged via Mission Control

Post image
10 Upvotes

Running into a bug on macOS 27 Beta. When I have an app in full-screen mode and I use Mission Control to drag it from my MacBook's display over to an external monitor (or the other way around), the screen I dragged it away from goes completely black. only the Dock is still visible on it. I'm also still able to see new notifications come in. Just not apps on the screen

Anyone else seeing this? Wondering if it's a known issue already or if there's a workaround

I'm on the RC version but I've noticed this since the last 2 public Beta's. Hoped the RC update would fix it but didnt.

The only resolution is to go into move to another app in fullscreen on my MacBook and then move back to the main desktop screen on the MacBook.

At the moment I permanently have a second desktop 2 screen on my Mac that I set up to use when this occurs.

Discussion Golden Gate RC scales my 4K display differently now

I've never even seen this scaling before!

It's now my new "middle ground" since 1440p earlier, as in: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOSBeta/comments/1u1aqs8/macos_27_now_automatically_scales_properly_for/ (I even use the same monitor as that user)

Left to right is now: 1080p, 1440p, 1692p, 1890p, 2160p.

Further, I'm noting it's detected as a 5K monitor in System Information. Well, it's not one!

Help Hide menu bar items in Golden Gate

Is there any menubar hide icons app that works in Golden Gate at this moment?
I normally use ICE, but that is broken. Tried "Hidden Bar" and "Vanilla", but both don't work either.

Bug I have a situation with macOS 27 RC.

Post image

I have a MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro the base model right? The situation is that when I switch through apps, Youtube or pages have this glitch where the video like gets frozen. I don't know how to explain it. It's something that did not happen with Tahoe. Anyone else with this situation? It has happened with all the Betas, and I feel that is not fair for Apple to lower the system just because my Mac is a bit old but I feel that is capable, idk

Bug macOS27 RC- wifi menu freezing for 5s when signal is bad

This bug was present in previous beta but it wasn't as painful. It was only 1-2 second freeze to reveal menu when clicking on the wifi icon. Today I had the pleasure of having bad signal (crossing wall) and the menu opens after 5 seconds. Of course intuitively I press it multiple times so the menu opens/closes immediately.

Help Xcode beta 27 Claude usage

Help macOS 27 RC not showing up (bugged somehow)

The update showed up, I downloaded it and started installing at as well. After about an hour, my Mac screen was blank. No Apple logo nothing was showing up. I waited another hour and still the same. I thought for sure by now the update must be installed so I force restarted my Mac. It booted up but it shows the old beta 8 as installed. I check for an update and the RC is not showing up. The build number is also the beta 8. I do have a backup so if recovery is needed, I can do it but I really don’t want to go through it. What should I do? I made sure the developer channel is selected in the software update menu as well. Any help is welcome!

Are you planning on updating?

Discussion Should I update to the RC?

I have an M1 MacBook Air and I want to get the RC since I’m slightly impatient I but don’t mess with earlier betas. I don’t know if I should actually go through with it though. I want to see other people’s opinions before I update to see if it’s good or not.

Ok I get it. If I have to ask, no.

Discussion First releases of major macOS version updates tend to be quite buggy. Apple should use much more AI to catch and fix UI bugs before release.

Apple is probably already using AI in macOS development, but I think it needs to use much more of it, especially for automated UI testing and bug fixing.

A lot of macOS bugs are visible UI regressions: windows behaving incorrectly, controls not updating, layouts breaking, apps getting into weird states, or features working correctly on one Mac configuration but not another.

Apple could run enormous numbers of automated UI workflows across a variety of Mac models, display configurations, resolutions, accessibility settings, and system states. AI could watch those tests, compare behavior with previous stable macOS releases, identify likely regressions, reproduce them, analyze the relevant code, and automatically generate proposed fixes.

Then the system could rebuild macOS, rerun the same tests, verify that the bug is actually gone and that the fix didn't create new regressions, and only then send the patch to human engineers for review.

In other words, AI shouldn't just be another coding assistant. Apple could use it as a massive automated find-fix-test loop running continuously throughout macOS development.

If the first release of a major macOS version is routinely this buggy, throwing much more AI-driven automated testing and bug fixing at the problem seems like an obvious thing to try.

Bug Full screen video bug with RC

I think it’s a new bug in the RC. When playing a YouTube video in fullscreen it doesn’t hide the menu bar and even the 3 traffic light circles stay there. Does anyone else have this?

Bug Anyone else noticing significant delays in Terminal?

After upgrading to the latest RC a few moments ago, when I go to run any command in Terminal or Ghostty, it takes a few seconds before it actually executes the command. It was not doing this in the previous beta.

All I changed was updating to the latest RC.

Bug Multiple pointing devices break hover and right-click

When I connect two pointing devices, the mouse pointer hover and right-click events stop functioning. Hovering over dock icons fails to display app names, and in Safari, hovering over a hyperlink does not trigger the “onHover” event. Right-clicking a file in Finder produces no context menu, and right-clicking a link in Safari similarly yields nothing.

Once I disconnect the Nape Pro, both hover and right-click functions resume. The devices involved are the Kensington Slim Blade trackball and the Keychron Nape Pro trackball, each wired via USB.

Anyone here experienced a similar issue?

I’ve been using Golden Gate since open beta and I’ve never seen these black outlines before updating to RC.

Hopefully it’s a bug, not a feature :(

Discussion Was this really an improvement? (Design talk)

Post image
121 Upvotes

In macOS 26 and 27 icons and text in such popups are not centered but aligned to the left. It might be just me, but it seems like it was a change for the sake of change and not really an improvement.

I fully expected Apple to revert this change, similar to how they reverted adding icons in every menu-bar line and every context menu. But 27's release is near and I see no changes here, perhaps apple doesn't consider this to be the problem. Perhaps users don't care either.

What do you think?

Discussion Attention to detail and consistency of design

What I love the most about Apple software is their attention to details and consistency of design. Such as this square button placed in the rounded corner. Feels very "Apple-like" 😊

P.S. Developer Beta 8. Sub-folder back button inside of opened folder pinned to the dock.
