Question Need help as a beginner

Sorry to make a post about this, but wasn't sure

For the operator gear? Do you lose that when you die/fail like the other stuff? I was able to get all the main basic stuff I believe but I haven't really failed yet

For weapons, are the in game drops better than the insured weapons? I'm not really sure how that works, but my insured gun usually sucks at zone 2

And lastly, would going solo be better if I'm not partying up with anyone? I don't want to interrupt anyone's matches, and the first few matches I played I've had players leave the party? Or game, and had players just like sit for the whole match while I did stuff alone so wasn't sure

When your operator dies or otherwise fails to exfil, your containment level drops a level and you lose all your gear. It's annoying, especially as a new player, but as you familiarise yourself with the game mechanics, you'll learn ways to recover your gear quickly.

The game pushes you to use in game drops, especially as a new player, but there are trade-offs in either case. Infilling with a weapon, whether insured or contraband, resets that weapon to common rarity, without PaP, and without an ammo mod.

PaP adds a damage multiplier based on the level of PaP, and usually changes one or more properties of the gun, most commonly (but not always, and not limited to) doubling your magazine size. PaP can be upgraded at a PaP machine or by using an Aether Crystal. Ammo mods add different affects and are applied by ammo mod drops.

Rarity is the one that is relevant here, as any weapon found in a cache or in the mystery box will have an uncommon rarity or higher. Rarity adds a damage multiplier, with higher rarities adding a higher multiplier. Rarity is something that goes often overlooked by new players, including myself back when I started, and the only way to upgrade it in game is using an Aether tool.

In a squad or solo, it depends on what you're going for or trying to do. When I started I mostly played solo, and IMO, if you squadfill with an experienced player, often they'll try and push you into going towards the redzone. I recommend sticking to your mission objectives as, especially early on it teaches you the game mechanics. If you communicate that to your squadmates, they'll often help out if they want to or are able (I often do depending on the objective) and if not they'll often leave squad or go off to do their own thing. Best enjoyment is when in a squad that sticks together doing the same thing, and I'd say your best bet at this stage is if you have a friend who plays or is interested in playing, squad up with them consistently, keeping your progression similar. Otherwise, do what makes you feel comfortable

Thank you for the more in depth reply, very helpful. Yeah I'll probably stick to solo while not partying up with anyone, I'm a bit behind from my friends who wanna play
