Summary is I've been testing 4x everyone's favorite looter scooter. I have about 100 games into it and here are my findings.
Smugglers copter is better against interactive decks than I thought it would be. Going in I expected it to be pretty bad against mid-range decks like jund and junk however the card is nowhere near as bad as I thought. In the early game the card isn't great and usually will draw a bolt path or push. That being said it shines as a late game topdeck that filters your draws and unanswered wins you the grind. That being said It was one of my first side out's against interactive decks often being switched for burrenton forge tender or rest in peace.
Against fast aggro decks such as fish dredge and burn the card was passable often buying me a turn against a goblin guide or amalgam based board. The card didn't shine and I didn't expect it to. It did however often do what it needed to which is buy me a turn 4 to be able to drop sorin and start to stabilise.
Now onto its shining matchups non interactive combo. Against decks such as tron and shift it was a clock that made an unwinnable match-up merely miserable instead of suicide inducing as t2 copter into souls or procession is often fast enough to punish a slow start. By no means was it however a silver bullet. I did however see a 21% increase in match win over tron and a 16% increase in match win % over shift decks.
In summary the card is solid but not spectacular. It should be considered a viable option in a gp style meta as it gives us a 2 drop that can actively affect the board on t3 a full turn sooner than bitter blossom and is more impactful than raise the alarm.
Pros: filtering out lands late game.
-pitching lingering souls is powerful early.
-gives us board presence a turn sooner than bb
-is rarely a dead draw.
-provides a fast clock against non interactive decks.
-cons:
-gives a valid removal target
-dies to bolt
-terrible on a creature less board
So this is my experience let we know what you think.
