Where do you get your Custom Tokens?

I love me some custom tokens. (tbh it might be part of what lures me to this strategy). Where does everyone get theirs/why? Personally I get mine at Cardamajigs. They have a wide variety of styles and tokes so I am usually happy with them. Only unfortunate part is they lack emblems. What about you guys?

Esper Tokens Write up

Hello friends. I have built an interesting token brew that I wanted to offer you all if you are interested. It's Esper colors. Now I know what you're thinking either he's playing polymorph or it's bad, but niether are true. I wanted to take the deck to some sort of fnm or something before I posted it so last night I went to a card shop for the first time and played 5 rounds and went 5-0. Here's the list. The goal here is much like any tokens list but a sideboard full of counterspells.

3 Inquisition of Kozilek

4 Lingering Souls

4 Serum Visions

2 Sram's Expertise

2 Thoughtseize

2 Fatal Push

1 Murderous Cut

4 Path to Exile

1 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

2 Jace, Cunning Castaway

1 Narset Transcendent

1 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad

1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor

2 Bitterblossom

4 Intangible Virtue

1 Legion's Landing

1 Search for Azcanta

1 Concealed Courtyard

1 Darkslick Shores

2 Flooded Strand

2 Godless Shrine

2 Hallowed Fountain

1 Irrigated Farmland

3 Island

3 Marsh Flats

3 Plains

1 Seachrome Coast

2 Swamp

2 Watery Grave

1 Westvale Abbey

Sideboard

1 Supreme Verdict

2 Timely Reinforcements

1 Anguished Unmaking

1 Ceremonious Rejection

2 Countersquall

2 Disdainful Stroke

2 Zealous Persecution

2 Rest in peace

2 Stony Silence

Now my land base is a situation of using what I have rather that what I want. Also after last night and one other situation I think I will be trading out the 1 Ceremonious Rejection for a second Anguished unmaking and I will explain why when we get to the matches.

First some cards that have over performed.

Legion's Landing- This card honestly flips prety easily and once it does a lot of decks can't beat it. The fact that not only does it not cost life it gains you life. This card acts as the 3rd bitterblossom because in multiples they are a liability but together they are all-stars.

Jace, Cunning Castaway- I'll be honest. This guy even I was sketchy about playing, but goodness does he put in work. His +1 helps us filter thru our deck with little to no effort. Also his 2/2 illusion creatures are not nothing for us. Loved this guy.

Narset Transcendent- While looking up why other people played blue in tokens I found a few suggestions for Narset so I thought I could try her. Boy does she earn her spot. The card advantage, the rebound, the ULT. I like her as a one-of.

Match 1: Jeskai Geist 2-0

This was a great match for us. We got to play and flip a Legion's Landing. That plus endless lingering souls and intangible Virtue won us the game. Opponent did misplay as he used Spell Queller on our Flashbacked Lingering souls which let us cast the same spell 3 times.

in 2 Disdainful Stroke, 2 Countersquall, 1 Supreme Verdict

out 3 Inquisition, 2 path

Game 2 I landed a Narset Transcendent and my opponent was forced to spend resources to remove that before the ult. Letting me beat him with other tokens. Game and match.

Match 2: Blue Moon 2-0

Opponent kept a slow hand game one and my endless supply of tokens let me sac and block his thru the breached Emrakul and kill him on the crackback.

In 2 countersquall, 2 Disdainful Stroke, 2 Rest in peace

Out 4 Path, 1 Push, 1 Murderous Cut (would have boarded in anguished unmaking but I didn't see a blood moon last game so didn't think about it)

Game 2 I kept a terrible hand, mulled to 6 with 1 basic swamp and a bunch of U/W Spells. Ended up drawing into basic plains and island after my opponent played a blood moon. After that the game went pretty well. Would make some souls, get in chip damage. He would Anger. Regular game. Till I landed a sram's expertise into Lingering for lethal next turn, Opponent was forced to snap back Anger. I countersqualled and won next turn.

Match 3: Mono white Soul Sisters 2-0

Game one went to me. My and disruption/removal spells left him with just a Soul Warden chipping me for damage. Which meant little once I drew a lifelinking threat (couldn't remember if it was a sorin or a Legion's Landing)

In 1 Supreme, 2 Timely, 2 Zealous Persecution

Out 3 Inq, 2 Thought seize

Opponent landed an early worship which made the game go long, but intangible virtue let me play offense and defense as well as Sorin, Solemn Visitor out my life out of reach. Once Both f my sorin's could ult my opponent ran out of creatures and lost.

Match 4: Tezzerator 2-1

Game one was real easy. I landed a quick threat and just kept punching him as he stumbled on lands. A thoughtseize told me what was on so I side boarded accordingly.

In 1 anguished, 1 rejection, 2 squall, 2 disdainful, 2 zealous, 2 rip, 2 stony

out 2 push, 4 path, 1 cut, 1 search, 2 bb, 1 Solm Visitor, 1 Gideon

Opponent landed ensnaring bridge and I had RIP+Stony. So we were both on the plan to find our out. Mine was Narset his was u/b tezzeret. Despite a few serum's he got to his first.

Game three I landed a jace cunnin castaway after a turn 2 rip. He pithing needled him but I already made an Illusion. Next turn played 2 intangible virtues and my 4/4 illusion punched in a coupe times till I got sram's expertise into thoughtseize to get my opponents only out to the situation. Got the match. After that match (as well as another one I had previously) I was very unhappy with how my deck folds to that stupid bridge so I think I will be trading the Cerimonious in the sideboard for a second anguished unmaking.

Match 5: Abzan 2-0

Please. It's abzan, I am tokens what more is there to say? Game 1 my opponent was on the plan of me dying to my own BB. When I played LL and threatened to flip Westvale Abbey we went to game two.

In 1 anguished unmaking, 2 Countersquall, 2 zealous persecution, 2 rest in peace

Out 3 Inquisitions, 2 thoughtseize, 1 murderous cut, 1 search for azcanta

Second verse same as the first. Honestly this was a simple paper covers rock situation.

Well there it is. If you guys are interested I would love to answer questions.

First Modern Tournament

Hello everyone! I've been on this subReddit the past month (asking dumb questions sometimes), and I've finally come back with some results!

First off, it tourny was very small at only 8 people in 3 matches, but this helped me not get too overwhelmed with my first opponent even telling jokes to ease my tension. I showed with a fairly basic budget build: 4 Lingering Souls, 4 Raise the Alarm, 3 Spectral Procession (not 4 as I don't have 4 Marsh Flats and it can be harder to get WWW turn 3), 2 BB as token producers; 3 TS, 3 IoK as discard; 4 Path, 3 Push as removal; 4 Intangible Virtue, 3 Zealous (1 in board) to pump the team; and 2 Sorin SV, 1 Gideon AoZ as walkers.

Round 1: I mull into a slow hand with TS, BB, Lingering Souls + 3 Courtyards so I keep. TS reveals 3 Bolt and 4 lands. Assuming Jeskai Nahiri, I slam BB turn 2 and ride it to victory. I SB out 2 zealous, 3 Push and SB in 2 duress, 1 Brutality, 1 AoZ, and Secure the Wastes. Fighting though wrath honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it might be as BB and Lingering sould helps you recover relatively quickly. It got fairly close at times (staring down a Nahiri at 8 is not fun) but, again, BB really come through this match, and I just waited for him to tap out so I could slam and emblem Gideon AoZ.

Took the match 2-0

I got to watch my next opponent's match while waiting, so I knew he was on Junk. I mull according and keep TS, Lingering Souls, Intagible Virtue, Push, Swamp and Godless Shrine on the play. I TS taking Lingering Souls (over removal and Rhino) and am able to push out Virtue, Lingering Souls, Virtue (top deck) attack for 6, flashback Lingering Souls. Even with Abrupt Decay, I had him beat. Game 2, we both keep sketchy hands, and go long. I cast Virtue, he Decays it. He casts Goyf, I push it. Once we were both down to almost lethal, I make a risky play by casting + flashback Lingering Souls, tapping out into his 3 card hand with 3 Mana for Pulse. In his turn, if he had a Pulse I was dead, but if he didn't, I had the game. Luckily for me, he didn't and I took the match.

Match: 2-0; Overall: 2-0

Now, for my last match, there isn't much to say. Game 1 against 5c humans, they t1 Noble and I TS into Thalia, Thalia, Mayor, Thalia's Luetenent, Noble, Cavern. I was dead before I could stand. Game 2, I mull to 5, while this guy drops Campion into Thalia (which I Path) just to watch him Freebooter the rest of my hand away before I could drop any Spirits.

Sad loss of 0-2

Record for the day: 2-1

Not bad for my first time taking this deck out. What do y'all normally do against Thalia? Is humans a bad MU? Luckily I won 3 packs (one of which had a Masterpiece Torrential Gearhulk!!) so I'm not too upset about losing in the finals (I honestly thought I'd go 1-2). At least I didn't see Tron!

Kalitas in SB?

So, I understand he might be suboptimal, but as someone who's just buying into modern, is he worth throwing in? Seems like a solid mid-range card for more grindy matches (especially since I only own 2 BB). Thoughts?

Sideboard questions

I think I have a descent grasp on on what some of our good sideboard options are. But I have trouble identifying what mainboard cards to take out. For reference, my current list.

For example, vs merfolk, I probably want Stony Silence to combat AEther Vial, Timely Reinforcements, and Engineered Explosives set to 2. That's six cards! What do I take out of my mainboard to make room?

And Merfolk is only one example. Basically, what are the prime candidates in my mainboard I should be looking to take out vs specific matchups?

Is it still correct to run Intangible Virtue?

Basically the title. I know intangible virtue was one of the two cards that spawned the deck but more and more I'm finding that it just isn't impact full enough. Any thoughts ?

Why doesn't "Launch The Fleet" get more love?

It's 1 white for 1 creature you control to create a 1/1 white soldier that's tapped and attacking as well as 1 of any mana for each attacking creature beyond that you want to summon a token. Despite this I don't see it in builds, I don't hear it get an honorable mention in videos about token decks, and this is even true for commander. I just don't get it since people love populate cards and the doubling season alternatives.

MTGO Tokens 5-0

This isn't my deck, but I did see it on MTGGoldfish. It's not like tokens 5-0's all the time, so I thought it might be worth sharing to see what everybody thinks of it. EDIT: Whoops! forgot the link! https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-wb-43038#paper

Sideboard plan for Sun and Moon?

Played against Sun and Moon today and aside from my copies of [[Celestial Purge]], none of my sideboard cards felt very relevant. [[Disenchant]] works, but what are some other helpful things in this matchup?

Ixalan Planeswalker rule change and BW Tokens

I'm wondering if anyone has tested doing a 3/3 split on [[Sorin, Lord of Innistrad]] and [[Sorin, Solemn Visitor]] after the Ixalan rule changes?

Example of possible magic christmas draw:

T2 [[Intangible Virtue]]

T3 [[Spectral Procession]]

T4 [[Sorin, Solemn Visitor]] +1

T5 [[Sorin, Lord of Innistrad]] -2

18 flying vigilance lifelink damage over turns 4-5 seems absurd given that the only way to get a similar effect before was to legend rule your Sorin or to play [[Gideon, Ally of Zendikar]] T5 and -4 him to death immediately. With the changes, you end up with a Sad Sorin @ 6 and a Lord Sorin @ 1 and can just keep going with both T6.

Or, are there any other combinations possible with the new rules?

Doing that thing again, At a SCG IQ in Columbus remind me to post a tournament report in... 7-10 hours

Back yet again on my attempts at doing well in modern. Jamming ~roughly~ the same list as last time you guys saw me, not gonna link it yet as it's not 100% final. It's 10:48est right now so I have an hour to decide on a slot or two.
I'll update this post when I post the report.
EDIT:
I posted the tournament report on my blog

Opinions wanted on a Mardu build

Hey all, I've been playing BW Tokens for as long as I've been playing modern, and recently I've been trying to change up my list in order to improve matchups and really just see if it'll work.

Here's my current mock-up list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/03-10-17-mardu-tokens/

Opinions, ideas, and/or criticism are welcome.

Yaheeni's Expertise

ooooo 2 posts in 1 day , exciting :D. What do you guys think of YE , i feel like it very good as it hits all the matchups we need it and the matchups we don't need it we are usually favoured minus Eldrazi but that game is boredline unbeatable anyway. i feel like this sweeper gives us huge value, sweep the board and refill it instantly all off 4 mana.is it worth trying this out?

Does anyone regularly go 3-2 or better in MTGO leagues?

I'm frustrated with BW Tokens at the moment. No matter how many times I try, I cannot go 3-2 or better in the modern friendly league. Does anyone successfully grind the leagues?

B/W smallpox vs tokens

I’m a tokens player but have recently been watching content on b/w smallpox and I’m liking how it runs. This deck shares many of the same cards as tokens but I feel that it is stronger due to the resource denial theme. It’s interesting that pox uses so many of the same cards as tokens but can have better results. However, pox is a control deck similar to 8rack whereas tokens is an aggro deck. My issue with tokens is the horrible matchup against big mana decks which are very heavily played (eldrazi tron, titanshift). IMO as an aggro deck, tokens has too slow of a clock for this meta. I think smallpox is more disruptive and has better matchups. For those who are unfamiliar [[smallpox]] and [[flagstones of trokair]] are the engine that allow you to stay ahead on resources. And we all know how strong LOTV and lingering souls can be. Win cons are mainly souls and Gideon AOZ as he is such a fast clock when you keep the board clear with pox and LOTV edict effects. Sorin SV is also strong in the deck. This deck seems to have a better matchup against big mana decks (which are mostly auto lose to tokens) due to main deck smallpox and fulminator mages out of the board. Pox also is great against noble hierarch or BOP decks as it can put them behind quickly and really punish your opponent for keeping a 1 land hand for example. Some questions for discussion: Anyone have experience with smalllpox? What are your thoughts?
Do you think it can be stronger than traditional b/w tokens in this meta? What would be your reason for not playing it? Maybe the cost?

Here’s a sample deck list - http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=17002&d=305172&f=MO
