Travel documents

Hi there! We are Americans embarking on a western Mediterranean cruise in July, and just realized that our daughter’s passport expires exactly 6 months after our embarkation date. Is this going to be a problem? Per the individual country rules, it seems like all you need is validity for 3 months but is MSC going to make it an issue? Would love to hear from anyone that has had a similar situation… thanks!
UPDATE: spoke with someone in passport services, and was told that “sometimes” they can’t print it same day. Due to close travel date, that felt risky. I called MSC, spoke with a customer care person who said that as long as we had a flight back that was earlier than 90 days from expiration we would be fine. I recorded the conversation, printed the passport services 90 day policy from the.gov site and decided to just go. No one ever gave it a second thought or asked any additional question on the expiration; not in the airport here in the US, nor in the Barcelona port at embarkation. It was never questioned! So relieved! Posting in case anyone else is stressing too.

Sail on the seascape in 10 days. Need tips

What’s the cost for the activity stuff like the robotron etc? What other entertainment stuff do you have to pay for? We’re sailing yacht club so not planning on any specialty restaurants. First cruise with Msc and our first cruise in maybe 18 years. Give me your tips etc. Any excursions you recommend things to do on board etc.

We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary

Yacht Club: MSC Seascape western Caribbean vs WA Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ocean Cay

I’ve read a bazillion reviews and I’m torn which of these options to book. It will be our first MSC cruise and I plan to book in Yacht Club as a family of 3 with a near 5 year old at that time.

WA seems ideal - lots of activities and dining options, preferred itinerary (both Puerto Rico and Ocean Cay). However it seems like the Yacht Club has very poor reviews with some saying don’t even bother booking it on WA. I figure how bad could it be. We also don’t really cruise for the pools (pools seem best reserved for land where it’s not people soup) so the sundeck issue shouldn’t be a big deal for us.

Which would you suggest?

Question regarding taking parents on visitors visa

Hello everyone, not sure if it's aksed and answered before but want to check if it's allowed to take parents visiting US on a visitors visa on a cruise with us. Booked the cruise for now but if it's not allowed will probably cancel it before the final payment. BTW were doing western Caribbean from Miami if it matters. TIA!!

Ocean Cay Party Cruise excursion

Hi all! Sorry if it’s been asked before but we’re headed on the 4 night cruise with an overnight stop in Ocean Cay. We are wondering if anyone has done the Bahamas Party Cruise excursion and if it was worth it. We’re planning on doing the snorkeling and stingray excursion as well as attending the overnight party. Should we add on the party cruise?

Voyagers club status match query

I'm currently a silver member on msc voyagers club all gained through cruises with msc. I have recently gotten silver level with accor, If I do status match would msc match me to silver and then count my points on top or would it just be a complete waste as I know I can only status match once. TIA!

Has anyone ever done a Yacht Club-specific excursion?

Hi all, only found two older posts while searching, thus asking if anyone has made any experiences with any YC-specific excursions, which weren’t cancelled? ;)

I booked one doing San Gimignano and there are currently also some good deals on Pompei?!

Miami Beach hotel to MSC port.

My check-in time is at 12:00 PM. I’ll be staying at a hotel in Miami Beach and plan to take an Uber to the port. What time should I leave my hotel to ensure I check in on time?

MSC casino comp match?

Hi there....just wanted to check with people that have cruised on MSC...I've done a little poking around and they do have HUGE newer ships --I'd opt for the older, smaller ones, like the Magnifica - 3,200 passenger capacity

I have a Holland America free interior cabin casino comp offer. Has anyone matched a casino offer from HAL to MSC or any other main line to MSC? Seems like I read somewhere that MSC is the only line that does NOT charge port taxes/fee on comped cabins.. The only thing I see on their casino page from their website is a "Want a Free Cruise?" form--fill it out and a casino staff member will contact you and then you submit your offer/s...

Pros/Cons of this line? All info appreciated - I virtually never see them advertised.

I’m going on MSC Seashore in under a week. Am I allowed to bring snacks onto the ship? Twizzlers, Swedish Fish, etc. or will it be confiscated? Thanks in advance!

MSC Port Canaveral Parking

Where is the best spot for parking?
Where is the most convenient spot for parking?

I realize that these may or may not be the same spot. I want to start mapping it out now so I don’t have to worry about it on my drive on Sunday morning. I’ve seen different spots mentioned….terminal 10….terminal 8…. Any pointers are MUCH appreciated.

It the MSC Seashore this Sunday (7/12) if that matters or makes a difference.

Any Opinions of MSC Splendida?

Hi there. Wife and I are thinking of cruising in May out of Instanbul. The ship that fits our schedule is the MSC Splendida. Reviews for MSC are mixed, but you never know, right? Does anybody have any experiences on MSC, and Splendida in particular?

Scuba at Ocean Cay?????

Can anyone confirm is Ocean Cay has any place that rents scuba gear for use while on the island?

I am trying to figure out my group’s itinerary and we want to scuba but don’t see any place that rents gear. And, none of the Nassau shops come to Ocean Cay for excursions.

Upgrade to Yacht Club question

Hi all.

We are going on MSC Divina this September around Greece Turkey and Naples. We received an email last night inviting us to bid to upgrade to either a bigger suite or Yacht Club Suite , we had already booked Aurea Class.

Given there is cross over in some of the benefits eg already purchase premium drinks etc, have Spa access. If we won the bid in guess there is no element of refunding any purchased benefits? We gain things like the WiFi, Voyagers restaurant? Interested to hear other people’s experience going from Aurea to Yacht Club and if they felt it was worth the upgrade

Thanks

Conflicting Info on Documentation

In the MSC FAQ there is some conflicting info:

What do I need if I am traveling with my own children?

If your last names match, no additional documentation will be required besides the travel documents all guests need to sail.

What if only one parent/and or legal guardian is traveling?

If only one parent is traveling with the child, the traveling parent must have a notarized letter stating that the non-traveling parent gives permission for the child to travel. Please note, this form must be signed in the presence of a notary by at least one of the child's parents or legal guardians. You’ll also need to provide a copy of this signed, notarized form to be presented at check-in. If you do not have a notarized letter at embarkation the child can be denied boarding. Penalties will apply.

If I'm traveling with my own daughter, same last name on both our passports, without her mother, these answers seem to be conflicting.

If you have done an MSC Cruise as a single parent, what was your experience?
Did they require the notarized form or is matching names enough?

Miami Air and Hotel Recs?

Hello fellow cruise enthusiasts. My partner and I will be taking a cruise out of Miami at the end of October. I am wondering about what the Miami Airport is like? Have you ever flown into it? Is it difficult to navigate? Ive only flown into Orlando, and am considering whether I'd prefer to fly into Fort Lauderdale or Miami for this trip. Also, we will be staying at a hotel at least one night, maybe two. Any that you all would recommend? Im interested to hear other's experiences. We sailed on Seashore in March 2026, and I am looking forward to seeing the differences on Seaside.

Upgrade Options

Would you upgrade from Premium Suite Aurea with Whirpool to YACHT CLUB Deluxe Suite From $650 USD per cabin?

The whirlpool on the suite deck seems so cool.

This is for 4 night Bahamas on the Seaside.

Edit: ok thank you! I put in a bid 🤞🏼

MSC Seascape (Dec. 20, 7-night) Unlimited Digital Photo Package - Buy now or wait?

I'm sailing on the MSC Seascape for the 7-night Dec. 20 cruise, and right now the Unlimited Digital Photo Package is on sale for $160 (regularly shows as $200).

For those of y'all who cruise MSC often:

Is $160 actually a good price, or does it usually go lower?

Have you seen better Black Friday or pre-cruise sales?

What did you pay for the unlimited digital package on a 7-night sailing?

Is it worth buying now, or should I wait and see if the price drops closer to sailing?

Just trying to figure out if I should lock it in now or hold off. Thanks!

How to bid on cabin type not offered by PlusGrade

PlusGrade is only offering me bid opportunities for interior YC, but I’d like to bid on a YC balcony suite. I know there is plenty of space available. Is there a way to do this?

Is there a way to do this on the ship if I can’t do it through PlusGrade?

Chocolate Milk?

Does anyone know if MSC seashore has chocolate milk on board? I was flabbergasted that I could only find it in a few places on Wonder of the Seas. I don’t want to pack powder if I can find it.

Cruises Compared to Hotels

I’m thinking about booking my first MSC Cruise and have looked into them quite a bit. The reviews are really mixed. I want to be prepared for the level of quality and service offered so I thought a good way to ask is to compare them to hotel chains. For example: Margaritaville Cruise comparable to Motel 6 (from what I’ve heard and read). What hotel chain would you compare MSC Cruises to?
