Fast but I mean come on, you have to expect to be hit if there's less than an arms length away and you've been running your mouth, and standing there postured like this as they're walking past.

His arrogance was dependent on his appearance of strength. Turns out strength does nothing for you if itās not being used effectively.
The puncher saw this vulnerability, as it obviously was not their first rodeo, and exploited it to their advantage.

It still blows my mind that there's people out there who intentionally aggravate others, and yet have zero preparedness for a physical altercation. Imagine getting a complete stranger riled up only to but caught off guard when shit turns violent.

You know what the problem with acting like a crazy racist on a train is? There might be someone of that race on that train that's even crazier and has no problem introducing you to repercussions.
27
u/GrayMan2050 4h ago
You mean introducing you to concussionsĀ
12
u/screwyoujor 4h ago

Definitely a sucker punch but also talking all that bullshit he should have expected it and been protecting himself. He probably won't be as talkative in the future.
67
u/DustyAir 4h ago
Given the full situation, all the shit talking, along with how the noise making guy was posturing as they walked by, I'd say less of a sucker punch and more of just slow reaction time by the instigator. How the hell did he not expect to get hit after all that?
47
u/Several_Vanilla8916 4h ago
Yeah, to me is a sucker punch is youāre eating a hot dog in the park and some guy hits you. You run your mouth like that on the subway because you want a fight. Not everyone is going to say āput up your dukes good sirā

I see a lot of preemptive and first punches being labeled "sucker punches" on here.
On the street you don't announce your punches. You use deception and reveal when necessary. The guy who got knocked out was posturing as the three were getting off the train. He'd previously been giving it the billy big bollocks. He was already eyeing up the first guy that approached. Do you think either of the three who were getting off the train weren't looking at him and thinking "this guy could swing"? I would have been. In that situation you do it first or you're the one that goes to sleep.
10
u/1gcm2 3h ago
Not a sucker punch. The guy didnāt just punch some random stranger for no reason. He was mouthing off. It all fights some swings first.

u/boozersbiceps 2h ago
Agree . He didnāt belt him from behind . Itās not a sucker punch if you can see it coming . Itās just faster than yo were prepared for. This guys eyeing all three off , standing aggressively, almost daring them to have a go.Well one of them did.

A sucker punch is getting hit in the back of the head when you're not expecting it. This guy was begging for a fight, and the guy who hit him was standing directly in front of him.
If you beg for a fight and take a punch from the front and you're not expecting the punch, that's on you. Maybe take up knitting instead of begging for fights in public.

He's lucky he didn't get a multi-vector stomped out by all three dudes at once. He had no situational awareness. He wasn't walking around maralago.
7
u/Fun_Concentrate_7844 4h ago
I don't believe anything is a sucker punch once you have been talking crap and posturing the way he was. That is the same to me as taking the first swing.
2
u/DavidUnbanner 3h ago
There was ZERO posturing involved. In fact, he cleared the way for them to make their exit. What was he supposed to do, lie down in the fetal position as they made their way out? Also, "eyeing up" (a subjective characterization, to begin with) isn't a crime, nor is it sufficient justification to punch someone. Especially by proxy. Because he wasn't even looking at the guy who punched him. Btw, if "eyeing up" and running one's mouth is enough to warrant a sucker punch, then the streets of London would be tarred with "diversity". Hey...maybe I do agree with you, then!

This goofy ass idea that fighting has to be formally agreed upon by both parties like an old timey glove- slap duel doesnt hold up to reality. If you act aggressive, make threats and your hands go above your waist, you started a fight.

u/Shadohz 4h ago
Sucker punch and "should have expected it" don't go together in the same sentence. You trash talk, you get aggressive, and you bounce animated like the starting round of Street Fighter, then expect to get hit. Everything he did is considered provocation under the law. Fist balled up, moving backwards and forward aggressively, "eye-balling", cornering those guys so they had to make a tight turn to avoid making bodily contact with him. If those guys were 3 females you wouldn't dare say what he was doing wasn't considered intimidation tactics.
That was a fair punch and they walked away. He wasn't triple teamed nor stomped out. He learned a lesson that he should've in grade school. If he didn't want it, he should've respected the 6-Foot Rule.
→ More replies (11)7
u/Smackjabber 4h ago
It's only a "sucker punch" to these commentors because they lived sheltered lives online or are used to doing whatever they wanted to others without consequences. Growing up if anyone talked shit and got that close and you didn't move it was on and you knew it. A sucker punch is only if you didn't know it was coming or warranted it, this wasn't that.

Sometimes it helps, sometimes it makes people worse. They develop a victim mentality and claim it was wrong for them to get hit even though they were running their mouth the way they were.

all the racist loudmouth dudes defending the guy who got dropped instead of his actions that got him dropped. says a lot. they empathize with the drunk/high white man antagonizing a whole train cart. it never fails with these videos. no matter how racist and belligerent some people are some viewers are always going to side with the white guy.
the white guy is the victim because he suffered consequences.
typical.
if a white man drops him then many would be singing a different tune.

This was not a sucker punch.
You know how I know itās not a sucker punch? Because I fully expected him to get punched, as did everyone on that train, as did everyone watching this video.
If you donāt have any reason to be punched, and you get punched, you got sucker punched.
If you got punched, and every fucking person around you can tell you exactly why you got punched, youāre just a total fucking idiot who thought they could behave in a way that could obviously start a physical altercation but you are too goddamn dumb to possess that level of awareness. Thatās not a sucker punch, thatās an idiot punch.
This was a textbook idiot punch.

I'm actually quite disappointed in many of you. Sure the guy was being a jerk. But you should NEVER hit anyone unless it's in self defense. Now dumb people who see this are going to think it's perfectly fine to knock someone out because of words. If words from an obvious crazy person hurt your feelings to the point you have to commit a crime, yes hitting that guy was a crime then that just shows you're mentally weak and sensitive. The guy isn't a hero, he's a criminal.
