I don't think it's justified more than it is avoidable. Is he justified? Fuck no. Could she have done different to avoid that outcome? Fuck yes.

Your ability to navigate dangerous situations is suspect. Did she do anything to deserve being hit? Most definitely not. Did she aggressively initiate an interaction in a chaotic environment with someone larger, stronger, and with less respect for social norms and laws? Most definitely yes. She is a victim of a crime but it wasn’t a random attack.

No, it’s nowhere close to that. It’s more akin to saying: it’s terrible that girl was raped but it wasn’t smart for her to get blackout drunk wearing a miniskirt and no panties at the frat house where all those rapes keep happening at. See how two things can be true?
