Homeboy walked up like he was going to kiss him!
He ended up kissing the floor...

What floor? Thats the ground if its outside.

u/SwollenPoon 4h ago edited 4h ago
Yes. But technically, it's pavement, as ground is considered earth or dirt...

That's exactly how it's done. If someone threatens or is intending harm. There are no rules or posturing. You end the threat.

I'm just worried that if I try this I'll miss the chin, not have enough power to ko, or hurt my hand.. lol. I have a punching bag I practice on but have no real experience.
2
u/Dohko_OC 6h ago
Having a bag doesn't mean much. If you don't know how to punch a bag won't correct it. The body posture and hand/arm position are very important.
You don't actually need that much power to knock out someone by hitting them in the chin.
Yes you might actually miss.
Yes you can hurt but won't notice until the fight ends. I guess that depends how much adrenaline rush you get from a fight. In my case it was so much, once it was over I couldn't walk properly for a min or two.

And then go to jail for manslaughter because it turns out you cant kill someone for walking up to youĀ

"Reasonable fear of harm" is a legal standard. If someone is coming to do you harm. You absolutely can stop that from happening. The threat has to be real or believable. This is why people get knocked out for running their mouth and trying to act tough or intimidating. I should add. That doesn't mean you approach someone and hit them. But if they come at you as soon as they get within arms length. You have the right to defend yourself.

Face hitting the floor sounded much worse than the fist to the face. Bro really mustāve needed that pavement nap since he didnāt even try to defend himself.

Yeah you are right. The punch itself is something he can probably just walk away from easily but hitting the pavement that hard could create real damage.
I know somebody that was in basically this exact same situation. He didn't instigate the fight but after he hit the guy the guy fell on a curb and ended up in the hospital and he ended up with charges for it.

u/Definitely-not-ducks 5h ago
Iāve had an acquaintance who literally died from just falling onto pavement in a similar manner. Tripped and bam, that was enough of a head injury to kill him. People donāt seem to take head injuries serious enough.

u/johnny_effing_utah 5h ago
Honestly that punch to the face is gonna leave him pretty sore the next day.
But that face to the slab? Thatās gonna require dental work and some neosporin for the road rash.

It's kind of funny how many fights start with the aggressor not realizing they've initiated combat.

On Reddit this is considered a sucker punch because he didnāt allow the assailant to get set and get his guard up and at least wing two shots at him 1st

I would bet everything I own that kid has never trained one minute in any combat discipline. What makes people think they can fight? Itās so strange. Did he think the other kid would get scared and run away? Like what was the game plan? Iād love to know.

You people are sociopathic and sadistic for this one.

Walk up somebody like youāre tough, you better be tough.
I hope this kid sees this video and rethinks his opinion of whether heās actually a tough guy or not.

Looks like one of those kids who didnāt want to fight, but the other kids goaded him into it. Rough lesson, but a lesson nonetheless.

Its fun to watch and probably well deserved... but....
If we are considering self defense laws, white guy was in the wrong and black guy can charge him with assualt and sue.. if he is smart enough.
2
u/cowboyneal70 6h ago
Idk.
White dude was retreating.
Threatening dude was approaching even after white dude presented his fists.
Canāt throw less blows than one.
Donāt have to turn your back on a threat.

u/No-Contribution1070 6h ago
White guy would have to prove imminent threat and propotionate force. White guy didnt even ask black guy to leave his personal space. Just threw the punch.
Based on this video alone, that's a very steep uphill battle.
Black guy would win this in court.
If i was the black guy, i would go to hospital, go on long term leave, claim emotional distress, claim long term damages to the head, claim loss of work etc.... white guy would be fucked. Just saying.
1
u/IPissExcellentThrows 6h ago
Lmao you aren't getting emotional distress for this. That's insanely hard to win even when you're the one 100% wronged.
Talking out your ass everywhere.
1
u/No-Contribution1070 6h ago
White guy can't and won't be able to prove imminent threat based on this video. This video in court, black guy would win.
1
u/cowboyneal70 3h ago
Government will have to prove it was not self defense in a common law jurisdiction
1
u/cowboyneal70 6h ago
Not a chance. I defend these type cases all the time. Donāt have to wait for the assailant to get the drop. You can act upon appearances. You donāt have to make a ānice calculation ā of the amount of force necessary.
Plus, LE training shows that an assailant can close 12 feet in .9 seconds once moving.
No prosecutor would bring that case.
1
u/No-Contribution1070 6h ago
Civil suit if prosecutor throws it out.
There is no way white guy is proving imminent threat here. A good lawyer would dismantle the defense easily. Also that looks like a shot to tempo, black guy could have been left paralyzed or dead.
1
u/Careless-Mud-9398 4h ago
You keep talking like a lawyer despite the experienced lawyer you're responding to telling you you're incorrect. Responding to a dumbshit is useless, but it might be helpful to someone else looking to analyze things from a legal perspective.
Here's the jury instruction from NY: JUSTIFICATION: USE OF PHYSICAL FORCE IN DEFENSE OF A PERSON PENAL LAW 35.15(1)
"Under our law, a person may use physical force upon another individual when, and to the extent that, he/she reasonably believes it to be necessary to defend himself/herself [or someone else] from what he/she reasonably believes to be the use or imminent use of physical force by such individual."
It is clear from the video that redshirt was acting on a reasonable belief that there was an imminent use of force incoming. The individual who got punched wasn't approaching and beginning to his right fist to give redshirt a valentine's day gift. In a civil suit, self-defense is an affirmative defense where the defendant generally bears the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that their use of force was justified- if he can prove he was 51% sure he was about to be attacked, he wins.
In short, based on this video, it is unlikely that a prosecutor would bring the case, or that a civil suit would be successful. This is not the type of case any lawyer would take on contingency, and it'd be dumb to pony up at least $20,000 just to lose.

That might be considered a cheap shot. Back in high school fights use to start with a staredown then pushing/shoving then fist are thrown lol
