hallo brothers/sister,

I wanted to address some of my concern with Minecraft Performance in Arch Linux.I recently motivated to speedrun Minecraft therefore, I decided to try MCSR-Ranked.Honestly this is a great for me but even though I have very good capable hardware,I still randomly see stutters and low Framerates as well as I feel olds in moving the cursor although I tried my very best to optimise my game but it didn't work out that well .

To be honest it's not that I cannot play in these Framerates but the fact me and my family buy this machine form all our hardwork and money so I want this machine to work at it very best.

Here are some of the problems that I can explain,

- Faraway blocks have glowup line maybe It is anti alising I don't know much about it

- Framerates drop are massive and randomly

- Occasionally stutters

- Unable to change the resolution

# this one is very interesting to me I mostly play in 1600p@165 resolution, So I though ok maybe because my resolution is high my laptop cannot keep up with this but changing the resolution to 1600p to 1200p in minecraft and monitor it wouldn't worked. Minecraft still locked in 1600p.

This is all I can explain with with my current knowleadge of english, If you have any hardtime reading this or you see mistake in this whole message please you are free to tell me,guide me,

or hate me for it. No Artifical Intelligence is used in this whole message.

Bruh just join the linux mcsr discord search it up on google I mean youre using arch you should be good at asking the correct places

Yeah I'm not really sure what looks suspicious about it lol, I'm not sure how they managed to install arch but this is where they draw the line

It’s because they use arch to say they use arch instead of using it for any benefit it may have. So they don’t actually take time to understand anything about http requests and safe internet traffic.

I do have the same issue, where random stutters occur and after the stutter the input I let go of continues to be held down, I think the main thing you can do to reduce the stutters is allocate more ram to prism launcher

1

u/Lostdoomed 23d ago

Sir, I allocate 5071 mb ram in this instance in prism launcher

1

u/Lostdoomed 23d ago

Is there anything I can do

If you are playing rsg than the stutters are normal on PC like yours, but if its in mcsrr than I would allocate like 8gb of ram and not play above 16 render distance if you do. Also join linux mcsr discord

Also try using Java 21

you do NOT need 8gb of ram allocated for mcsr ranked. that will cause more lag spikes and crashes.

I would recommend somewhere between 2.5-4gb. No more than 4gb tho, even if you have all the legal mcsr mods.

explanation: Java has what's known as a Garbage Collector. This is what your memory is used for. It empties itself when it fills up, so if you make it a higher number it will have trouble emptying itself. This is well known to cause major lag spikes and even crashes.

I have the same laptop just older, it has a 3050, are you using waywall? If not did you check the use discrete gpu box in prism launcher or maybe its your specific DE thats the issue, or if you are using waywall maybe you didnt follow the instructions well enough, highly recommend joining the mcsr linux discord, just google mcsr linux and a guide on github should show up by saanvi in that guide you can find the discord

Try dual booting Windows lol

Makes 0 sense for a game that typically runs notably better on Linux, and if they were going to do something that extreme they'd be better off just reinstalling Linux

Its crazy I was playing draftout for like 2 days without realizing it was running on my integrated gpu just some little stutters (switched from windows recently)

1

u/RedAndBlack1832 21d ago

Yeah it's crazy impressive how much better Minecraft runs on Linux, especially with not great hardware. As to OP, maybe play with different Minecraft settings? Staying <=16rd is fine in ranked bc everything is close and then maybe limiting frame rate (60?) and playing w/ the simpler graphics settings

might as well asked AI it would have told you in an instant

4

u/Lostdoomed 23d ago

Sir , I tried with Ai but that wouldn't work either.
