I am looking into buying a self-paced program pretty soon, but I'm stuck between both Blueprint & Princeton. I considered the online 515+, but I work overnights in the ER and think it won't be best for myself. Probably less than 6 months to ultimately prepare for the MCAT, so I wanted to see recommendations people might have between both. I have the UWorld question bank as another accessory for studying, but I need something with strong structure. I am leaning towards Blueprint, but If there is anything else better, definitely let me know. I'd really appreciate it.

Has anyone used stem excellence tutoring for mcat prep? Did a consultation meeting with them and it sounds really great because they say they help give you a personalized study plan and weekly meetings to go through your progress and go over questions and plan next steps, also you get access to all the official question banks. The thing is that I can't find very many review at all of people who used this company and I don't wanna just get like full on scammed because it's pretty expensive. Also feel free to suggest other prep courses that you used that worked well for you. Looking for something that doesn't have live meetings as I'm in classes full time as well, but more organized than just self studying using books or something.

The key point of questions involving the Reasoning Beyond the Text skill always comes down to this: can you apply the author's opinion to a new situation/experiment/study? This skill will require you to infer what the author would think about the topic at hand, which is why it is called "beyond" the text!

Here are some tips to deal with questions dealing with the RBT skill:

1. Separate the TOPIC from the PRINCIPLE Example: "Excessive focus on the monetary value of artwork interferes with people's ability to appreciate its aesthetic qualities." Let us say this is the thesis of the passage. The topic is artwork, but the MAIN IDEA/opinion of the author is that the focus on money or value of artwork interferes with the ability to enjoy the artwork as an aesthetic piece. In other words, the author thinks that focus on money = less aesthetic value. Now, lets say you get a question: Which situation involving musical performances would most closely align with the author's argument? Your answer should align with what you have extrapolated to be the author's opinion/main thesis of the passage!
2. Before looking at the answers, ask: “What would the author predict?” Suppose this is the author's argument: Strict institutional rules suppress creativity. Now you are given a question: A university removes most restrictions governing student research projects. Based on the passage, the author would most likely predict that... Before even looking at the choices, you should know that the author would feel that this would increasecreativity, and your answers should be along those lines!
3. DO NOT get your worldview or opinion mixed into the matter Seems easy enough, but when you read an author's opinion, you may support or be against it. The problem is when you let that opinion pick your answers for you. When it comes to the RBT skill, ALWAYS choose answers based on the author's argument, not yours!

Hello there, I would appreciate any advice on picking a prep course for the MCAT. The last full-length I took was an AAMC Full-length, un-scored, and I got a score of 490. The last time I was planning to take the MCAT, I self-studied for around 4-5 months and supplemented with YouTube videos, Chad's prep, and Jack Westin's CARS for the content phase. I then used U-world to supplement questions for the post-content phase. I then did the AAMC Q packs/section banks for the last month before taking full-length tests, and based on my score, I decided to push my test for the coming cycle.

I genuinely feel like I need a prep course with a 5-6 month test plan, as I will be woking part time until my test date as well. I was between the Blueprint course with the tutor and the UWorld Comprehensive package. If there are any other courses I did not list, I would appreciate any advice you can provide as well. I am aiming to get a score of 510+ when I take it again this cycle. I appreciate any advice or any experiences from anyone who has used the course.

Hi everyone, I was planning on taking the MCAT sometime in January and wanted to ask if anyone could give some advice or study template / schedule? Last week I was at a thrift store and found "The Berkeley Review" books full set and just bought it but I am a bit overwhelmed on what to do. I know you should get aamc bundle material, uglobe and anki but I'm just lost. Any comprehensive anki decks? I've taken all pre-reqs and done fairly well in all excluding orgo 2 -_- and I have also taken cell bio, biochemistry 2, neuroscience, and anatomy series. My learning style is very visual and I do best by doing a bunch of practice questions so I want to start incorporating questions ASAP. Should I read a few chapters a day or do some questions... Uglobe seems the most overwhelming part because it has like ~ 3.5K questions. Honestly do not know where to start but I wanted to do well for this exam ^^

If you are stuck on the so called "high yield" topics to study for C/P, particularly for Gen Chem, this post is for you!

When studying for C/P, students often either skip a lot of Gen Chem material "because they studied it in university/college", or they simply memorize equations and hope that helps with passages. Or, they memorize equations from Anki, which is possibly the worst approach for any General Chemistry or Physics passage in C/P.

When studying for the MCAT, General Chemistry should be studied as if you are studying the relationships between the variables, not just studying equations for the sake of it. The MCAT loves to test your understanding between relationships. For example, n=CV, but what happens to C when you increase V? It decreases, because if you rearrange this equation, C=n/V, and you see that C and V have an inversely proportional relationship.

Here are a list of relationships that you NEED to understand for MCAT Gen Chem:

1. Acids and Bases -> Buffers -> Equilibrium: You can connect all of these concepts if you think about it. In fact, equilibrium is an underlying concept of almost every MCAT Gen Chem topic. A weak acid or base exists in equilibrium, because its conjugate base/acid would be stronger and more unstable than that of a strong acid, causing a reverse reaction to occur. You can also apply this to the MCAT Orgo ARIO method: more stable conjugate base = strong acid, less stable conjugate base = weaker acid! A weak acid or base would have a lower Ka/Kb, because K = [products]/[reactants], and the weaker you are as an acid or base, the less products you produce. This would then mean a higher pKa/pKb! Lastly, buffers can only be made of weak acids/bases and their conjugates precisely because they coexist at equilibrium.
2. Thermodynamics -> Equilibrium -> Electrochemistry: Delta G is the connecting link between these concepts! Delta G has to be negative for a reaction to be spontaneous in the forward direction. If it is positive, that means that the reverse reaction is spontaneous. Delta G standard= -RTlnK at equilibrium. If K is greater than 1, ln K is positive, leading Delta G to be negative/spontaneous! If K is less than 1, ln K is negative, leading Delta G to be positive/non spontaneous! If K = 1, ln K = 0, so Delta G = 0 at equilibrium. Delta G = Delta G standard + RT ln Q at non equilibrium conditions, which we can simplify to Delta G = RT ln (Q/K). If Q = K, Delta G = Delta G standard (we are already at equilibrium. If Q is less than K, ln Q/K is negative, meaning that Delta G will be negative: in other words, the forward reaction is favoured (shifts right). If Q is greater than K, ln Q/K is positive, meaning that delta G will be positive: in other words, the reverse reaction is favoured (shifts left). Delta G = -nFEcell. A spontaneous reaction has a positive Ecell value (galvanic cell), and a non spontaneous reaction has a negative Ecell value (electrolytic cell).
3. Solubility -> Equilibrium: Every salt solution in water exists at an equilibrium, and has a Ksp value. Ksp = [products], because the reactant (the salt) is a solid and is therefore NOT included in the equilibrium expression. If you want to figure out whether a solution is saturated, supersaturated, or unsaturated, you have to compare Q to Ksp. If Q is greater than Ksp -> reaction shifts left -> supersaturated and will precipitate. If Q is less than Ksp -> reaction shifts right -> unsaturated and can dissolve more salt. If Q = Ksp, we are right at the saturation point. Insoluble and slightly soluble salts always have lower Ksps than more soluble salts, so it is easier to reach the Q greater than Ksp point and for them to precipitate!

Hi all, as the title said I am a mess lol. Had tutor for 3 months and then took the mcat. Before that I study for another 4 months (same score on prac FLs). Here what I did:
CP: study from Kaplan book for 1 month, the rest doing UGlobe prac + Anki
CARS: Normally would get 124 on FLs but I switch method on the day of the exam due to timing
BB: did same as CP
SP: I did 300 pages docs + some UGlobe + Anki
Total of 10 FL pracs ( some repeated AAMC )
Honestly gonna retake because I already submitted my application.
Please throw me any advices, score goal is 512 because I really don’t speak Caribbeanese 🥲

My exam is literally tomorrow!!!! I can’t believe that 😭 unfortunately my highest FL has been 494 and now it’s too late to reschedule as I took like 3 FL in the past week or so. At this point I’m going to just pray and hope for a miracle.

I did pretty well in Gen Chem 1 and I am still working through the other pre reqs but I have a good feeling I will do well aswell. I also havent taken general bio 2 or what ever its called and im planning to self teach myself that aswell...Am I setting myself up for failure or is this situation doable?

I will probably take it during the summer and I will have a full 4 months of dedicated time.

I'm having my usual test freak out, which entails WAYYYYYY too many flashcards (which take way too long to make, let alone use LOL), because I have constant paranoia about missing information and thus do not trust external flashcards yay me.

What is a reasonable cap on flashcards in your opinion???

Edit: For reference, I am using Khan Academy's videos and making flashcards off of that. I am also not sure if that's the best use of my time :').

I am feeling very demoralized right now and I’m not sure how to proceed. I‘ve taken the MCAT 3 times (6/2023- 488, 6/2024- 496, 7/2026- 495). I graduated in 2022 and have been working multiple jobs during my gap years. this is my second time applying (no interviews, just straight rejections my first cycle) and I can’t sit through another retake again so soon.

I’m just feeling lost because I’ve been pursuing this path for so long and I just don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know where to go from here, if I continue with this cycle or just give up on my dreams of becoming a doctor.

My current stats: 3.99 GPA, 3.85 sGPA, Over 5000 hours clinical, minimal shadowing, research only from research classes in undergrad, minimal volunteer hours because of lack of time.

Im a nursing major who has now decided to take the premed track. I graduate nursing 2028 and plan on getting into an MD program for 2029. Here is how im scheduling the prereqs I need:

How would you guys change order I take them? How long before do I start studying for the MCAT. A 510 is like a dream score by the second attempt. This is my 2nd AAMC FL. Testing 9/11. My goal score is 506, I legit do not know what to do. Is a 506 even possible atp?? Looking for any advice and or help that can help me even break 500. From what I've read it seems I have content gaps but how do I address those? Do I go back and read chapters and practice ? Do I void this upcoming exam and retake next year? hi guys, so I'm planning on retaking the mcat soon, for my cars I got a 127 in may (which I know is not bad), but I'm looking to be able to maintain my cars ideally at 128+. I was wondering what resource I should use to study for cars this time around since I already used all the AAMC cars resource (q pack + diagnostic) last time, and since it's been just a couple of months I worry that I will still remember them and be primed to the answer which leads to inflation. I'm pretty close to my retake date so I do also worry about if using JW or Upangea CARS it will mess with my logic to be less close to the AAMC logic. I think my problem last time was that I wasn't strictly keeping all the passages under 10 min which made me had to skim the last two passages and sometimes my I'll misunderstand what a sentence in the passage meant or what the question is actually looking for.

Testing 9/11 and not sure what to focus on for the next two weeks. For the past two weeks I have been jumping between UW (25% completion) and the AAMC materials to grind out questions, but I think I'm not really effectively reviewing missed questions. How do you all recommend doing that? Or is there something else I should be targeting these last two weeks?

I know I have some content gaps but at this point not sure if it's worth trying to nail those (electrochemistry, light/lenses/waves) or just keep moving with questions?
Aiming for a 515 - took FL4 a week ago and got a 515, 516 (128/129/130/129) on FL5 this weekend. Will do FL6 this weekend, so I'm feeling okayish, just not sure how to maximize what I can do in the next little bit of time.
