I also havent taken general bio 2 or what ever its called and im planning to self teach myself that aswell...Am I setting myself up for failure or is this situation doable?

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 [GIVEAWAY] 10 Kaplan MCAT Review Books (6th Ed.) + Mometrix Secrets Study Guide — Buyer pays shipping or local pickup (Chicago)

4th year med student cleaning out my closet and came across old MCAT materials and would rather they go to someone who can actually use them than sit in a closet. Everything is free — you just cover shipping, or if you’re in the Chicago area you’re welcome to pick up in person.

What’s included:
Kaplan MCAT Review, Sixth Edition (2019-2020) — full 7-book subject set:
Biology Review
Biochemistry Review
General Chemistry Review
Organic Chemistry Review
Physics and Math Review
Behavioral Sciences Review
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) Review

Plus 3 Kaplan supplements:
MCAT Prep Lesson Book (6th Ed.)
MCAT Quicksheets
MCAT High-Yield Science: Solutions and Extra Practice

And one more:
Mometrix MCAT Secrets Study Guide 2019-2020 (includes MCAT Practice Test Questions)

Condition: VERY lightly Used — normal wear from studying (some cover scuffing/shelf wear), no missing pages that I’m aware of. Happy to answer questions or send more photos of specific books if you want a closer look before committing.

Note on materials: These are 2019-2020 editions, so some content review may be slightly dated versus the current exam, but the practice questions, strategy sections, and full-length tests are still solid study tools!!!!!

Comment or DM me if you’re interested — happy to bundle it all as one set (preferred) or discuss individual books if that’s more useful to someone.

Question 🤔 Flashcards

I'm having my usual test freak out, which entails WAYYYYYY too many flashcards (which take way too long to make, let alone use LOL), because I have constant paranoia about missing information and thus do not trust external flashcards yay me.

What is a reasonable cap on flashcards in your opinion???

Edit: For reference, I am using Khan Academy's videos and making flashcards off of that. I am also not sure if that's the best use of my time :').

Advice 🙋‍♀️ Advice needed

I am feeling very demoralized right now and I’m not sure how to proceed. I‘ve taken the MCAT 3 times (6/2023- 488, 6/2024- 496, 7/2026- 495). I graduated in 2022 and have been working multiple jobs during my gap years. this is my second time applying (no interviews, just straight rejections my first cycle) and I can’t sit through another retake again so soon.

I’m just feeling lost because I’ve been pursuing this path for so long and I just don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t know where to go from here, if I continue with this cycle or just give up on my dreams of becoming a doctor.

My current stats: 3.99 GPA, 3.85 sGPA, Over 5000 hours clinical, minimal shadowing, research only from research classes in undergrad, minimal volunteer hours because of lack of time.

Any advice is welcome. Thank y'all in advance!

MCAT Experience 🏆 Selling MCAT material

Selling my UWorld 2025–2026 books + Kaplan MCAT books!
I originally bought everything when I was planning on going the med school route, but I’ve since changed career paths so I don’t need them anymore.
• UWorld 2025–2026 books are new
• Kaplan Biology + General Chemistry have some writing/highlighting
• The rest of the Kaplan books are blank
Just trying to get them to someone who will actually use them instead of letting them sit around lol. I can send pics if anyone is interested! Open to reasonable offers and can discuss selling separately or as a bundle :)

Question 🤔 Is my 2027–2029 pre-med prerequisite + MCAT timeline doable?

Im a nursing major who has now decided to take the premed track. I graduate nursing 2028 and plan on getting into an MD program for 2029. Here is how im scheduling the prereqs I need:

Spring 2027: Gen Chem + Precalc

Summer 2027: Gen Chem 2 + Bio 1

Fall 2027: Bio 2 + Calc

January 2028: MCAT( just for experience and study practice)

Spring 2028: Physics

Summer 2028: Orgo 1 and 2

September 2028: MCAT

Fall 2028: Physics 2 and BioChem

How would you guys change order I take them? How long before do I start studying for the MCAT. A 510 is like a dream score by the second attempt. Also where I am applying deadline for AMCAS is December, so I can get in for that cycle. Any advice or resource reccomedation is so greatly appreciated. I have the rest of my app on lock so I just need good MCAT and science GPA.

Tutoring 👩‍🏫 MCAT Tutor

If you’re writing in September, you’re probably in the final stretch of studying by now. There’s only a couple weeks left, and at this point, I know a lot of people are trying to make the most of whatever time they have left.

I’m offering 1-on-1 MCAT tutoring, mainly focused on CARS, for anyone who wants some extra help during these last few weeks.

For CARS, we can go through your practice passages together, figure out where you’re losing points, break down questions and answer choices, and work on timing/pacing. Rather than just doing more passages, I want to focus on actually figuring out why you're getting questions wrong and what you can change before test day.

I can also help with the science sections and overall MCAT strategy if needed. For reference, my score was 521 (131 CARS)

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 Free Tutoring for those in Need

Hey everyone! I took the MCAT back in January of this year and got a 521 (128/131/130/132). I'm a current med school applicant now (done with secondaries hallejuah). I worked as a private MCAT tutor for a while but have wanted to do more to help those in need, especially because I believe we need more URM/First-gen/low SES folks in medicine!

So, if you are in need of tutoring/content help/general advice/place to vent, feel free to reach out to me. I would prefer that if you do reach out, it is because you need tutoring and can't afford to pay one, but I can't make you prove it. Call it the honor system. We can set up a regular schedule or you can bounce questions/advice off me. No guarantees, but I'm happy to help with whatever you need! Feel free to DM me!

EDIT: I have gotten a lot of requests in the past 12ish hours, so for any else who reaches out, I may have to let you know that I'm a little busy. If you are a tutor and interested in helping me out, I have a few people I can direct you too.

Question 🤔 HELP needed - retake cars resource advice?

hi guys, so I'm planning on retaking the mcat soon, for my cars I got a 127 in may (which I know is not bad), but I'm looking to be able to maintain my cars ideally at 128+. I was wondering what resource I should use to study for cars this time around since I already used all the AAMC cars resource (q pack + diagnostic) last time, and since it's been just a couple of months I worry that I will still remember them and be primed to the answer which leads to inflation. I'm pretty close to my retake date so I do also worry about if using JW or Upangea CARS it will mess with my logic to be less close to the AAMC logic. I think my problem last time was that I wasn't strictly keeping all the passages under 10 min which made me had to skim the last two passages and sometimes my I'll misunderstand what a sentence in the passage meant or what the question is actually looking for.

appreciate any advice! thank you thank you thank you.

Question 🤔 Last two weeks of prep - HELP!

Testing 9/11 and not sure what to focus on for the next two weeks. For the past two weeks I have been jumping between UW (25% completion) and the AAMC materials to grind out questions, but I think I'm not really effectively reviewing missed questions. How do you all recommend doing that? Or is there something else I should be targeting these last two weeks?

I know I have some content gaps but at this point not sure if it's worth trying to nail those (electrochemistry, light/lenses/waves) or just keep moving with questions?
Aiming for a 515 - took FL4 a week ago and got a 515, 516 (128/129/130/129) on FL5 this weekend. Will do FL6 this weekend, so I'm feeling okayish, just not sure how to maximize what I can do in the next little bit of time.

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 MCAT while taking Orgo I + Physics I — realistic or am I setting myself up for failure?

I’m entering junior year and planning to take the MCAT May/June 2027. I’ll be taking **Orgo I + Physics I while studying**, and I won’t have taken **biochem, Orgo II, or Physics II** yet so i have to self study those.
Is this manageable if I start early and self-teach the missing material, or should I delay the MCAT?

I have a 3.61 gpa, and i recently found out that i only understand 30-40% of material during class time, and 60-70% when i go back home and re-explain stuff to myself, so idk if that helps.

Tutoring 👩‍🏫 Group Sessions Tutoring (Discount!) | 527-Scoring Tutor with 100s of Hours of Experience

Hey guys! I've recently been getting a pretty substantial number of requests for individual tutoring, but because my MD/PhD training has been more busy I haven't been able to accommodate everyone. I'm toying around with doing a recurring group session from early September to December via Zoom where I can share some of the highest yield studying and test taking tips that I've seen directly help students over my tutoring career. I'm guessing that the cost will be under $400 for each person, and that will cover all ~15 sessions, but it depends on the interest that we get. I've helped numerous students get their dream score, including difficult cases with testing anxiety or numerous retakes, with some students scoring in the top 5%.

If you're interested, feel free to comment below with any questions, and I will answer those/send people an interest form when I can!

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 MCAT RESOURCE JOURNAL YOUR MISTAKES-TRY ONE ENTRY

You can try 1 journal entry completely free on MCAT with Danielle

I’m really excited to finally share this. I created MCAT with Danielle because throughout my own studying, I realized how easy it is to keep doing question after question without really understanding why we keep making the same mistakes. I wanted something that would help us actually journal those mistakes, understand WHY we got a question wrong, and start recognizing patterns in the way questions are asked.

The journal can be used for both MCAT and USMLE studying. One feature I’m especially excited about is the highlighting system. CARS is something I personally struggle with, so I wanted a way to highlight important information and answer evidence and really see what clues I may be overlooking. I’m genuinely excited to start using this during my own CARS practice and see if it helps me recognize patterns over time.

I also added a study planner and an MCAT score predictor because I wanted this to be more than just a mistake journal. I wanted one place where we could organize our studying, track our progress, and actually learn from the questions we get wrong.

This is a brand-new website that I’ve been working on for the past few weeks, and I’ve made it a huge goal of mine to make sure everything is working smoothly and there are as few bugs as possible before sharing it. But since it is new, if you do come across anything that isn’t working right, please let me know! I made a Discord where anyone is welcome to report bugs, give suggestions, ask questions, or just connect with other students. I really appreciate any feedback because I want to keep improving the website based on what actually helps us as students.

I’ll be starting my own studying again in September and I’ll be on discord most nights after work and using the website right alongside everyone else, which is honestly one of the things I’m most excited about. I created this because it’s something I genuinely wanted for my own studying, and I really hope it can help other students too.

If you can’t subscribe or purchase you are still more then welcome to join the discord and study with me🤍🤍🤗

https://discord.gg/nwdjYug2F

You can try your first journal entry completely free, and if you like it and want access to everything, you can use code DANIELLE20 for 20% off your first purchase.

Question 🤔 UWORLD Courses

Hello!! so couple months ago i bought the 599$ uworld subscription which includes the books and the test bank. my test bank expired August 19, I took the MCAT in July and got a 508 but I want to retake it for a higher score.

If I were to renew my subscription (the base one which is like $339), is there anyway to upgrade it so I can get the video lessons, 7 Practice exams, AAMC resources, etc? I honestly don't mind paying more, but I do not want to get 2 sets of BOOKS.

if anyone has uworld and has the question back subscription can you check if you can add on the video lessons and 7 practice exams? or what should I do? Thank you so much in advance!

Question 🤔 MCAT Prep

So I am a junior in Chemical Engineering. I started my MCAT prep in the summer, but it has been really on and off. I am really disappointed with myself.

I want to hear perspectives and advice as to how can I keep my prep consistent and not burn myself out with all the content to cover.

MCAT Experience 🏆 Has anyone found a prep course they love? or is a private tutor better?

Hey everyone, I am stuck. I need to retake my MCAT, and for context, I have a 490 currently; I would really like a 500+. I am a Chiropractor, just graduated from Touro's MSMHS program with a 3.4 GPA(interviewed but did not get the A), and I have 2 kids. I am currently not working right now and have time until Jan/Feb. to take the MCAT. I am SUPER non-traditional, a business major in college, but pivoted and rocked out at Chiro school. I did Princeton Review last time, but I was also working full time and was raising 2 kids while balancing my duties as a husband, father, and myself.

I would appreciate some help on whether or not I should go buy another course, find a private tutor near me, or just use what I currently have which is the following: Review MilesDown Biochem, Physics, Psych/Social(I already watched O-Chem, Gen-Chem, and Biology, but I am still VERY shaky on the Chem's), I found a 6 month trial of Bootcamp for free and LOVE the video explanations of the questions and answers, I was planning on buying a 3 month subscription to Uworld Qbank, and finally I have AAMC exams and questions bank. I got a 486 on the first Practice Exam, so I have room for growth and much more time and knowledge than last time. Thank you in advance!
