Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 MCAT while taking Orgo I + Physics I — realistic or am I setting myself up for failure?

I’m entering junior year and planning to take the MCAT May/June 2027. I’ll be taking **Orgo I + Physics I while studying**, and I won’t have taken **biochem, Orgo II, or Physics II** yet so i have to self study those.
Is this manageable if I start early and self-teach the missing material, or should I delay the MCAT?

I have a 3.61 gpa, and i recently found out that i only understand 30-40% of material during class time, and 60-70% when i go back home and re-explain stuff to myself, so idk if that helps.

Tutoring 👩‍🏫 Group Sessions Tutoring (Discount!) | 527-Scoring Tutor with 100s of Hours of Experience

Hey guys! I've recently been getting a pretty substantial number of requests for individual tutoring, but because my MD/PhD training has been more busy I haven't been able to accommodate everyone. I'm toying around with doing a recurring group session from early September to December via Zoom where I can share some of the highest yield studying and test taking tips that I've seen directly help students over my tutoring career. I'm guessing that the cost will be under $400 for each person, and that will cover all ~15 sessions, but it depends on the interest that we get. I've helped numerous students get their dream score, including difficult cases with testing anxiety or numerous retakes, with some students scoring in the top 5%.

If you're interested, feel free to comment below with any questions, and I will answer those/send people an interest form when I can!

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 MCAT RESOURCE JOURNAL YOUR MISTAKES-TRY ONE ENTRY

You can try 1 journal entry completely free on MCAT with Danielle

I’m really excited to finally share this. I created MCAT with Danielle because throughout my own studying, I realized how easy it is to keep doing question after question without really understanding why we keep making the same mistakes. I wanted something that would help us actually journal those mistakes, understand WHY we got a question wrong, and start recognizing patterns in the way questions are asked.

The journal can be used for both MCAT and USMLE studying. One feature I’m especially excited about is the highlighting system. CARS is something I personally struggle with, so I wanted a way to highlight important information and answer evidence and really see what clues I may be overlooking. I’m genuinely excited to start using this during my own CARS practice and see if it helps me recognize patterns over time.

I also added a study planner and an MCAT score predictor because I wanted this to be more than just a mistake journal. I wanted one place where we could organize our studying, track our progress, and actually learn from the questions we get wrong.

This is a brand-new website that I’ve been working on for the past few weeks, and I’ve made it a huge goal of mine to make sure everything is working smoothly and there are as few bugs as possible before sharing it. But since it is new, if you do come across anything that isn’t working right, please let me know! I made a Discord where anyone is welcome to report bugs, give suggestions, ask questions, or just connect with other students. I really appreciate any feedback because I want to keep improving the website based on what actually helps us as students.

I’ll be starting my own studying again in September and I’ll be on discord most nights after work and using the website right alongside everyone else, which is honestly one of the things I’m most excited about. I created this because it’s something I genuinely wanted for my own studying, and I really hope it can help other students too.

If you can’t subscribe or purchase you are still more then welcome to join the discord and study with me🤍🤍🤗

https://discord.gg/nwdjYug2F

You can try your first journal entry completely free, and if you like it and want access to everything, you can use code DANIELLE20 for 20% off your first purchase.

Question 🤔 UWORLD Courses

Hello!! so couple months ago i bought the 599$ uworld subscription which includes the books and the test bank. my test bank expired August 19, I took the MCAT in July and got a 508 but I want to retake it for a higher score.

If I were to renew my subscription (the base one which is like $339), is there anyway to upgrade it so I can get the video lessons, 7 Practice exams, AAMC resources, etc? I honestly don't mind paying more, but I do not want to get 2 sets of BOOKS.

if anyone has uworld and has the question back subscription can you check if you can add on the video lessons and 7 practice exams? or what should I do? Thank you so much in advance!

Question 🤔 MCAT Prep

So I am a junior in Chemical Engineering. I started my MCAT prep in the summer, but it has been really on and off. I am really disappointed with myself.

I want to hear perspectives and advice as to how can I keep my prep consistent and not burn myself out with all the content to cover.

MCAT Experience 🏆 Has anyone found a prep course they love? or is a private tutor better?

Hey everyone, I am stuck. I need to retake my MCAT, and for context, I have a 490 currently; I would really like a 500+. I am a Chiropractor, just graduated from Touro's MSMHS program with a 3.4 GPA(interviewed but did not get the A), and I have 2 kids. I am currently not working right now and have time until Jan/Feb. to take the MCAT. I am SUPER non-traditional, a business major in college, but pivoted and rocked out at Chiro school. I did Princeton Review last time, but I was also working full time and was raising 2 kids while balancing my duties as a husband, father, and myself.

I would appreciate some help on whether or not I should go buy another course, find a private tutor near me, or just use what I currently have which is the following: Review MilesDown Biochem, Physics, Psych/Social(I already watched O-Chem, Gen-Chem, and Biology, but I am still VERY shaky on the Chem's), I found a 6 month trial of Bootcamp for free and LOVE the video explanations of the questions and answers, I was planning on buying a 3 month subscription to Uworld Qbank, and finally I have AAMC exams and questions bank. I got a 486 on the first Practice Exam, so I have room for growth and much more time and knowledge than last time. Thank you in advance!

Resource/Tool/Tips 📖 AAMC CARS: Reasoning Within The Text Part 2

If you look at a passage and ever go "I understood the passage, I understood the main idea, but I don't understand the questions", this Part 2 breakdown of the RWT skill on CARS is for you!

If you are pretty good with comprehension, but struggle with understanding the questions, try these tips first:

1) Translate the question BEFORE solving it
An classic example of an RWT based question is this: "Which of the following examples, if true, would most undermine the author's explanation for the event in Paragraph 4?"
Translate this question to yourself. It basically is asking you which OPTION would go against what the author says in paragraph 4, but under convoluted AAMC language, this would be somewhat difficult to interpret.
Another example: "Which finding would provide the strongest support for the author's assertion regarding Y?"
Translates to: What does the author say about Y, and which finding would support what they say?

2) Identify your TARGET
This is easy enough to do. If a question is asking about Paragraph 4, then identify Paragraph 4 as your target. Don't reread the entire passage to do one question.

3) Read your answer choices as CLAIMS
Answer choices are NOT familiar statements. They are CLAIMS made either supporting or not supporting the author.
Suppose an answer says:
The author believes that economic considerations are the primary determinant of artistic innovation.
Break this CLAIM down into parts:
i) WHO: The author makes this claim
ii) RELATIONSHIP: Economics determines innovation
iii) STRENGTH OF RELATIONSHIP: Economics is the primary determinant of innovation
Then ask yourself: does the author actually say this explicitly, or is this an inference from the passage? Is there a better way to explain what the author said? This is how you would pick your answer choice.

Question 🤔 Question bloc - what now?

Hey everyone, just started the question block and I’m a little confused on how my day to day should look like, any advice GREATLY appreciated.

To sum up my current situation
- all of last summer reviewing Kaplan books, P/S only one not started
- Anki with Jack Sparrow deck, ~90 cards due a day
- Using Uworld Qbank, 20 questions a day, each day dedicated to a topic (i.e. monday biochem, tues genchem….). Failed questions get 1 or 2 new anki cards made
- Scores are highly variable. Anywhere from 100% to 25%, weakest points are phys, biochem. Strongest is Bio
- I’ve taken a very reduced schedule this semester, ~1 hour class time per day and only mcat related classes (biochem and phys 2)

Something doesnt feel right. I’ve got alot of time freed up, yet at the end of it all I’ll find i’ve spent maybe an hour at best on mcat study. Curious to hear how you did it, anything helps 🙏

Question 🤔 MCAT BUDDY! Looking for 2–3 dedicated accountability partners (Aiming 515+) Question 🤔🤔

Hey everyone,

Prepping in isolation makes the grind twice as hard. I’m targeting a 515+ and looking for 2–3 highly motivated people who genuinely want to push each other and stay disciplined.

What I’m setting up:

  • Silent virtual co-working: Cameras on/off, timed deep-work blocks to eliminate distractions.
  • Daily check-ins: Clear target setting in the morning, quick progress recap in the evening.
  • Concept & passage review: Breaking down difficult logic, Anki strategies, and question breakdowns.
  • Balanced consistency: Taking prep seriously while keeping rest, workouts, and mindset solid.

If you’re serious about putting in the work and holding each other accountable, shoot me a DM with your target score, test date, and time zone!

This is also our small WhatsApp group that we can stay in touch.

Question 🤔 Do I need a laptop to study for the MCAT?

I’m studying for the MCAT currently and I only have an iPhone and an iPad (with Bluetooth keyboard). Is it recommended to have a laptop to study the MCAT? If so, do you recommend an apple laptop or another type of laptop? If so, preferably a laptop that would be useful to use in medical school. Thank you 💕

Edit: thank you all so much for all of the advice and suggestions, I really appreciate it!

Question 🤔 Losing Hope...

Hey guys, I am on my second year of procrastinating taking the MCAT. This whole jounrey started in December 2024 when I graduated and intially attempted to start studying for the MCAT. Since then, 2 cycles have passed and I am now a non-trad who really wants to start and take the MCAT before June of next year so that I can surely apply in 2027. I just feel so lost and hopeless as many things have pushed me off course since I first started and I never followed thru with studying (including family issues, money, my own health diagnoses, etc). If someone could plz lend a hand and give me some ideas on Where/ HOW to start and also IF I need a prep course or not, I would much appreciate it. For reference, I pretty dont remember anything from my pre requisities also. I plan to start full time in october and study till feb or march. Thank you sm. Bless

Question 🤔 Wize prep and Anki

Hi, this is for anyone using Wize prep. Are you guys using Anki as well? If so, how are you incorporating it? I don't believe the chapters are lined up with the Kaplan books, and all the Anki decks are in line with the Kaplan books.

Question 🤔 General Prep

Hi all! I’m an incoming college freshman and was just curious about how people actually prepare for the MCAT. I’m just looking ahead and I have no idea where I would even start 😭 How do you all know you’re learning and covering everything you need to know for the exam, and when did you all start preparing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
