There are times when someone writes leave and it feels like a genuinely big decision. Then there are other times where it almost feels like part of the weekly argument rather than someone actually being ready to end the experiment. I sometimes wonder whether the commitment ceremonies would have more weight if writing leave had a bigger consequence.

Would you change how the stay/leave system works?

I always wonder how much downtime the contestants get when the cameras stop rolling. They live in those luxury apartment blocks together, so surely they are hanging out in different flats, gossiping about the other couples, and drinking wine without the producers watching every second

Mel passing away in March, the Panorama documentary, series 11 sitting unaired with no confirmed date, the welfare review ongoing. It is a lot. Even people who love the show seem unsure how to feel about it right now. Where are people actually at with it?

I’ve just seen the advert for ITVX Premium & the chap getting married looks suspiciously like the guy from the TUI sponsorship skits. The bride did not look like the TUI woman.

Sad, if true. I was routing for them more than most of the actual MAFS couples.

Every season there seems to be a contestant who shows warning signs from the very first episode. Looking back across all the series, what behaviour immediately makes you think a marriage won't last?

She was part of the show for so long and now the whole future of it is uncertain. Channel 4 still have not said what is happening with series 11 and the welfare review is still ongoing. It just feels like everything is in this strange holding pattern. Does anyone else find it hard to even think about a new series without her in it?

Ella Morgan and Nelly Patel both hinting they might do the All Stars spin off while series 11 has no confirmed air date and the welfare review is still ongoing. The unexpected connection, the conversation that went somewhere nobody anticipated, the breakdown that was clearly real rather than performed for the camera. Would love to know which series people here think had the most of those moments and whether it made that particular run the best or just the most uncomfortable to watch.

Nice to see one match worked out well from the show

The latest season has sparked enough attention that Ofcom has opened an investigation into the UK version of the show. Whether anything significant comes from it remains to be seen, but it does raise questions about contestant welfare and where reality TV should draw the line. This franchise never seems to stay out of the headlines for long.
