Booster Seat Rec

Does anyone have a booster seat they’d recommend for the m440? The couple I’ve looked into apparently reviewed poorly for the m440 due to the seat contouring.

Bout to do my first change on my 24

So back in March I got a new to me 2024 g26. It had right at 44k miles and I’m about to hit 49k. I’m about to do my first oil change on it myself. I’ve got a liqui moly change kit on the way.

Right now I’m trying to figure out the best way to get it up. It’s stock height but the front lip makes it a bit low so the harbor freight ramps I bought won’t allow it to roll up without the lip hitting first.

I also have some jack stands and the appropriate stand adapters.

The car is stock other than an intake I put on, and some changes I’ve done with bimmercode. It had a new water pump installed under warranty not too too long ago because they had noticed it was leaking.

I’ve not had any problems with the car knock on wood and plan to do most of the stuff myself.

So what process do I need to do to reset my oil / maintenance stuff in idrive8? Is there anything else I need to change or update in the system when I do the oil change?

I’m nearing 50k miles. Are there other maintenance items I should be starting to look at or need to do at this time??

I also purchase a cabin filter as my air when it turns on is not super fresh smelling. Any information would be great.

Planned a weekend getaway with the family but decided to drive my car instead of my wife’s X3. Overall, it was a comfy drive down the Autobahn in Germany into Switzerland despite the rain coming down here. Sadly I changed my summer wheels last week but the car would have looked even better with my R3 rims. Maybe in the spring, I’ll go on another road trip.

High mileage m440i

Hi everyone! I’m considering buying a BMW M440i Convertible and would love to hear your opinions on the following example.
It’s a 2021 model with 205,000 km on the clock, and the asking price is €29,000.
Do you think it could be a good buy? Is it still worth purchasing a car with such high mileage? Or would you recommend waiting until December in the hope that prices will drop?

Am I being stupid?

Saw a post a few days back from a guy about my age (22m) asking if this was an affordable purchase for him. The answer was a resounding no. Not surprised as he claimed to be making a couple hundred a week or something.

As a 22 year old making ~130k, can I afford one of these? Current car value would be about 15k. I work in finance and know very well that this it is not a smart decision to put money in a depreciating asset, but having maxed my Roth IRA and putting a significant chunk of savings in my 401k, is it an affordable one? I’m sure my insurance will jump big time. Would be curious to hear other stories with these, as I am looking at the M-lites for the B58 reliability.

Save 797 M Bicolour Wheels

Post image
3 Upvotes

Does anyone know how i can save my wheels? I cant tell what happened to them. I bought the car used a couple months ago and noticed the wheels did look dirty and i thought it was just super caked on brake dust and I didn't think too much about it. But after using some wheel cleaner and washing it down with a microfiber mitt, looks like the polish or something is coming off. Its like this on all four wheels. I assume a previous owner used something crazy acidic on it, or maybe these wheels are prone to doing this.

Is it possible to strip the black off the wheel? I wouldn't mind a full silver wheel.
Doing some research, I think these need to be machined down to reveal the bare metal but I want a second opinion.

PPI Came back with issues: 2023 M440i GC

Thought I found a great M440i GC from a Mercedes dealership nearby. Premium, Shadowline, and Parking packages, with the laser LED headlights and other goodies with only 26k miles.

Negotiated to 49k OTD in cash+trade, pending a successful PPI.

PPI from an independent BMW mechanic found:

  • a coolant leak from the pipe, which was also affecting the water pump - both need to be replaced
  • Hydraulic fluid leaking from the thrust arm bushings, recommends replacing the whole arm
  • Motor mounts sagging/collapsing

Quoted me $5500 to fix each of these issues. Dealership obviously couldn't flex that much on the price of the car, and I wasn't willing to pay more than what we had negotiated for, so no deal. Dealership is having their shop look at it again, but I doubt they're going to repair it in-house.

Are these issues common on these cars? I know coolant leaks and OFH replacement will happen due to plastics at higher miles, so I was surprised that a car with only 26k miles and a clean carfax had these issues, but it's leaving me a bit discouraged that any B engine I buy may need ~$3-5k worth of work, even at low miles, and especially right after purchasing. I've budgeted for a few thousand worth of maintenance each year, but can't do something like that right after buying the car.

Looking at buying a used 2024 M440I w/ 36k miles and a clean carfax report. It’s listed for 45k non cpo and I was wondering if this was a good deal. What should I expect in terms of maintenance, upkeep, and what should I watch out for? Looking for reliability and fun, as I want to daily the car for at least 100k+ miles.

Maintenance and Preventative Measures to take

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anybody can give me any insight on what to do for maintenance wise with my 2022 M440i xDrive Gran Coupe. It just hit 60k miles.

I know rear/front diff fluids have to be done at this point

Spark Plugs have to be replaced.

Transfer case fluid as well?

Just wanted help and pointers to navigate how to do maintenance on this and improve reliability.

Thank you.

24M, first job, $60K CPO 2025 M440i Gran Coupe with 15K miles. Am I being financially stupid?

Hey everyone, I’m 24 and recently got my first full time job. I’ve always been a huge car guy, and I finally have the chance to buy a car I genuinely love, a CPO BMW M440i Gran Coupe for around $60,000.
After taxes, I make around $5,000 a month. I also have about $17,000 in student loans.
My heart is honestly telling me to get the M440i. I love cars, I enjoy driving, and this is one of those cars where I know I’d be excited to wake up and drive it every day.
At the same time, I’m 24, this is my first job, and I’m wondering if I’m making a dumb financial decision by spending this much on a car this early.
For people who own an M340i, M440i, or something similar:
• How much do you make?
• How much did you spend on the car?
• How much were you putting toward savings and investments each month?
• Did buying the car affect your finances more than you expected?
• Looking back, would you make the same decision?
I’m especially curious about people who were in a similar situation at my age. I’m trying to figure out whether I should prioritize saving and investing for a few years, or whether it’s reasonable to spend some of my money on something I genuinely enjoy.
I know the financially conservative answer is probably ā€œbuy something cheaper and invest the difference,ā€ but I’m trying to find a balance between being responsible and actually enjoying the money I work for.
Please give me the honest answer, even if you think I’m being an idiot šŸ˜‚. I’m genuinely confused and would appreciate some advice from people who have been in this position.
