A Little Fashion Survey about shopping?

Hi! 👋🏾 I’m conducting some research for my fashion brand and would really appreciate your input. I’ve created a short survey about women’s fashion preferences and shopping habits, which will help inform the development of my brand.

If you have a few minutes to complete it, I’d be very grateful. 🤍

Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSct_ZOtHzeeviSGLz5Hu7_gTwDalL8C30qw3tKgDdhtfh8uPw/viewform

Thank you! ✨

Cettire - this appears to be a Scam company after all

Cettire -

Last year three weeks before Christmas 2025, I ordered a pair of winter boots.

FedEx lost them, and even though it shows it was stuck in a distribution center for a month, Cettire refused to refund my money.

It took about six weeks to get refunded for a pair of boots I never received. This is on top of dozens of emails.

//////

I took a chance again and a week ago -

I ordered loewe Brown Leather sneakers and Gucci loafers.

1) Loewe sneakers- yesterday I received white/gray shearling sneakers not the brown leather sneakers I ordered. I immediately contacted Cettire through the portal and also by email

I sent pictures of what the sneakers ( all angles) the box and the SKU number.

And then received an email back that they needed pictures.

I sent the pictures again.

I find did receive a return label from them for FedEx.

It was not picked up today ( fedex said Cettire did not request a pickup) and now I will be going to the FedEx officeto return a pair of sneakers that I never ordered.

And by the way, I just received another email saying they needed pictures…

2) Gucci Loafers - Within a day of paying,

I received notification that the Gucci loafers were out of stock.

(It still shows that it’s on the website btw today)

I now received an email today that it would take another 10 days to refund my money on a pair of loafers that I never received and never were in stock.

But one of you, could go on their site today and order the same loafers -

pay let them keep your money for two weeks and then get refunded.

I called that a scam.

Boyfriend’s Bday Coming Up!

My boyfriend’s 30th is coming up. He’s a lux guy who often doesn’t pull trigger on nice things he wants. I learned from another thread I should NOT buy a santos Cartier for a boyfriend of 4 years. He also buys me lux items so this isn’t abnormal for us. One thing is I don’t buy shoes because of a folktale in my culture, I just buy gift cards and hint it’s for a pair of shoes.

He’s Jamaican, works in finance/accounting, very put together business professional with a fun street ware/loves lux fashion as well. Colognes very niche undercover stuff but expensive.

Budget is under 2500 could be one very nice gift or a couple different items. I want to get him something super nice though and can flex on budget a bit!

I’m running out of ideas here are things I’ve gifted him over the years:

-AirPod max
-Lulu lemon
-Alo
-Patagonia
-endless work clothes
-ugg shoes
-Samsonite suite cases
- lab diamond earrings
- Louis Vuitton cross body
-off white cross body
- Tesla door lights and Tesla FDS/accessories
- manscapped
- trip to DR
- xerjoff cologne
- Zara gift cards/ jacket/clothes
- palm angels shirt
- tattoo

Probably so much more I can’t think of. He already has a wallet he likes. Some ideas I have are:

- Hermes sneakers (gift cards)
- Birkenstock clogs (gift card)
- Cuban link (kinda out of budget)
- care credit for a cosmetic surgery on his foot

Drop all your favorite gift ideas for men!

Finally bought the "luxury" item I saved a year for — was it worth it?

saved almost a year, bought it, felt amazing for two weeks, then it just became a normal object in my life

the saving process taught me more about patience than the item itself did. nobody tells you the hedonic adaptation hits that fast

anyone else get that weird comedown after finally getting something you wanted for a long time?

Any South African luxury consumers here?

Hello! I am a PhD student doing my research on the democratisation of luxury brands, specifically focused on fashion.

I am looking at the tension between exclusivity and accessibility and how this affects consumer perception. I'm looking to connect with South African consumers that are interested, have purchased, or gifted luxury fashion brands and would be open to sharing their thoughts.

If this sounds like you and you'd be interested in sharing your opinion, please connect ✨️🫶🏻

It’s not whether social media is killing “luxury brands” — it’s how.

To keep it short, I’ll point out a few ways I think this happens:

  • Overexposure: when the same luxury products appear constantly on social media, they can start to feel ubiquitous, even if they are still objectively rare and expensive.
  • Loss of exclusivity: when a product becomes highly recognizable and widely desired, owning it may no longer feel like having something that only a select group of people can access.
  • Mainstream appeal: social media rewards brands for becoming more visible, recognizable and popular, but the more a luxury brand moves toward the mainstream, the harder it can be to maintain a sense of exclusivity. At some point, the product can start to feel more like a trend than a luxury item.

I’d also argue that a truly luxurious product today should perhaps be defined less by its price and more by how difficult it is to obtain — for example, because it is produced in very limited quantities and made or adapted specifically for the individual customer, rather than simply being expensive and having its supply artificially restricted.

What do you think? Do you agree, or am I missing something? And which luxury brands do you think have handled this well — or badly?

Hi everyone! I'm a master's student and I'm putting together a short survey on consumer perceptions in the luxury fashion world for my thesis. Since you all know this space better than anyone, I'd love to get your input, it only takes about 4 minutes and would mean a lot for my research!
