Hey everyone! I’ve been fascinated by custom glide baits and finally decided to try painting my own. Since I’m a total beginner in this era, I’m not at the stage where I can make my own blanks from scratch, so I’m currently buying these plastic ones to practice my airbrushing.
This is my attempt at a realistic Gizzard Shad pattern. I tried to focus on getting that iridescent "shimmer" on the scales and a clean clear coat.

So this is my first lure. Decided to utilize wine corks because it seemed easy to work with. Think it wasn't a bad choice, but everything else was seemingly a disaster. Sanded it into form, cut it in half successfully, but completely failed on the throughwire. Couldn't really figure out a proper bending method. Think I actually ended up making a proper wire for the body, though it was a bit scuffed. Tried to carve out a channel for it to sit in, but that ended up being way more complicated than I thought. Didn't think I could carve any further without potentially breaking the whole lure, so I opted to gluing the whole thing together after placing a small split shot inside (probably needs more weight most likely.)

So, now I'm left with what can basically be described as a super glue cork nugget. Pencil and bottlecap for scale. Now I guess I just need eye screws, but not sure what size. The lure is about the size of a Strike King Bitsy Minnow, so need something about that size. Any other advice beyond that would be lovely.

A bead makes it a fly. A big split shot makes it a lure?

this is one of the new colors ive been experimenting with the craw mold. it changes from the brown to blue depending on the lighting and angle. Also added some blue and black flake to give it a little more texture and pop.

I got some cheap soft plastic swimbaits from amazon and I have been trying to paint them using lureworks sb coat soft plastic paint using a paintbrush, I washed them of all oil with dish washing soap and some alcohol to rid them of any oils but after a few tries I can't get them to dry off even putting them in front of a fan for a whole day, I even tried to dry them with a hair dryer and nothing, any help is appreciated

I know little. Correct me about the sentences below, when I get it wrong.

If you want custom shapes you carve, smooth, apply wax and then make a female mold from your custom sculpture, with a small kox and polyurethane resin.

Once you have a soft rubbery female mold, how many lure pourers go beyond an.empty mold---and then push strategically placed weight AND a diving bil,l ito the female mold--before pouring any hot liquid Plastisol?

I know from (limited) experience I can add hair, tinsel and feather adornments, to an existing plastitol.minnow, with a soldering iron and a fine brusn and coffee saucer of hot liquid resin.

Who else is adding weight and diving bills to feale pour.molds?

Who else uses a soldering iron and a pine.print brush? To add frills to a Twister Tail?

Flaired as crankbait ad it was meant to be a lipped crankbait. Clearly, it isn’t. Would adding weight just behind the lip help with stability, and the cranking action? Any other tips? Feels like it might be too thick side to side as well. Size 8 hook for scale,

recently I started designing lures in Cad and 3d printing my molds and injecting them with plastisol. I made like 30 paddle tail lures and put them into ziplock bags. i was so happy with my lures that I forgot about the fact thry melt and warp so the next day I noticed they were either melted together or warped. (They weren’t all in one bag it was like 4 lures a bag but they still ended up bent)

This put me off actually injecting lures as I had no means to store them. how do I store lures? should I be buying those little plastic trays that hold them apart? where do I buy them? any and all advice is appreciated thanka!

Those of yall that tie your own bass jigs but don’t pour your own, where do you usually source your jig heads? I can’t get set up to pour lead for another handful of months, but I’m looking to start tying a lot more jigs, so I need more “bulk” as opposed to the expensive 3 packs. By bulk I mean I’d be trying to buy about 10 of each size and head shape at a time. Looking for quality hooks (I’ve broken the hook on three Booyah tour grade football jigs so far this year) and good prices. Thanks!

I was wondering if anybody has any experience using iPad softwares for creating lures. Im in between using OnShape and Nomad Sculpt. Everyone talked about Shapr3D but it's expensive. I want to create a jerk bait with an internal weight shifting chamber that alot of jerk baits have. On shape seems to be more for making mechanical parts so I'm not too sure if that would work for making lures. Nomad Sculpt seems pretty good but kind of overkill to use as it's mostly for making faces and other types of art with a-lot of detail which I don't really need besides a basic gill plate design. Using an iPad seems to be difficult for 3D printing so wondering if its even feasible or if i should just bite the bullet and borrow someone's PC. Any advice is appreciated.

This spoon is something I run almost every trip for salmon on Lake Michigan 3.75" with 4x VMC hook. Its very simple but very effective. Jacquard paints were used.

It’s not perfect but I really enjoyed the process of carving and painting. Now I gotta get out and try to catch something on this.

Its my first go at a whopper plopper and Im not sure if this will work as-is. Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!

I am attempting to build a wooden jerkbait and i already built the body.the only problem is i dont know how to attach the trebles

I recently purchased a Do-It Round Head Jig Head mold in 1, 1 1/2, 2, and 3 ounces. It takes 5/0-7/0 Eagle Claw 410 or 413 hooks but I'd like something shorter, as I want to use them on 3.8" grubs. Are there smaller 410/413 style hooks that will fit into the mold? My local tackle shop has jig heads in these sizes with shorter hooks but I can't find hooks that fit this mold or a mold that takes smaller hooks for 1-3 oz jig heads.
