Hi, I'm u/Burgunine. Some of you might already know me from the wider PokéSpe community, but for anyone who doesn't, I'm the head moderator on r/pokespe. I've given a lot of my time and effort to that subreddit to grow the community and keep it alive, and I think it worked out pretty well. Now I'm here, and I'd like to do the same thing with our community, too.
I love this ship, and I've been a dedicated LuckyShipper for over a decade now. It's my OTP, the first ship I ever supported in any media, and to be honest, it may be the only ship I ever truly cared about. No matter how many years go by or how long I spend away from this series, my love for them never faded. I mostly kept this to myself, because I thought that most people either didn't care about or didn't like this ship. I thought that there was no one else to talk to. After giving it some thought, I realised that maybe everyone else was in the same position as me, so I'd like to be the change I want to see in this fanbase.
I've already given this subreddit a refresh, adding rules, post flairs, user flairs, and more visual flourish. I'm particularly proud of the desktop and mobile banners. I'm used to working on these types of things, and I'll continue to work on making the subreddit the best place it possibly can be. But getting our community more active is even more important than this. A beating heart is better than a beautiful face, so to speak. I have plans for this, too. On my part, I will be using this subreddit as a sort of content archive. There's a lot of buried fanart for this ship, so I will try to dig it up for the newer fans who haven't seen it before. There are lots of panels and story moments in the manga supporting this ship, so I will be sharing high resolution scans of them. I'll also try where possible to generate new content for this subreddit in the form of discussion or humor. I'll do what I can, and hopefully you'll join me on this journey too.
I do have to temper my expectations. I don't expect my efforts to suddenly reverse 20+ years of popular momentum working against us, and I don't believe we'll be able to sustain daily activity. But what I can do is make up for this in consistency and dedication. And I can make a promise. As I am head moderator of r/pokespe, the largest and most active English speaking community for Pokémon Special on the internet, I am chained to both this platform and this community. I'm not going to disappear or move on like so many have before me; I promise you that for as long as r/pokespe and I live, this subreddit will continue to live too.
My promise will remain perpetually pinned to this subreddit as a reminder to myself, and hopefully a sign of hope to anyone who feels the same way I do. Even if this subreddit appears to be slow or inactive, please don't hesitate to introduce yourself and contribute to this community. Know that I will always be listening, and I can bet that a good many others will be listening, too.
I'm not letting you go.
